Nervous is it normal
MayMarie replied to ambernicole22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Completely normal! I had never had any kind of anesthesia, surgery, or pain medicine of any kind before this! I am a nurse and I just kept telling myself, "You've sent patients to surgery a million times and they've all come back out" Find some way to reassure yourself that works for you! 24 years old Starting 6/12/15: 297.6lbs Surgery 1/18/16: 267.7lbs Today: 222.8lbs -
Congratulations, sister! As of yesterday I am over halfway to my goal as well! Such a great feeling. 74.8 lost from my highest weight, 44.8 since surgery 1/18/16. 72.8 more to go We can do it!

I have been feeling CRAZY since surgery. Okay, maybe crazy is a poor choice of word. More like restless. I've been craving change and adventure. Today I decided to embrace this new craving and followed the advice of Tom Haverford and Donna Meagle: TREAT YO SELF. Now instead of lavish and indulgent meals I will treat myself in more personal ways. Today I decided to go with a new look: silver fox. ???? How do you treat yourself now that food is no longer such an enticing treat?

Thank you so much! Its definitely not everyone's cup of tea but luckily people seem to be following the "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all" rule! Lol. I've gotten quite a few compliments though Loving all these posts guys and gals! We all deserve a great once and a while

Getaways are by far the BEST treat yo self treats! Somehow myself and one of my best nurse buddies at work got the same 5 days off at the end of the month... So we're going to Myrtle Beach! And we don't even have to use our PTO! Enjoy your trip.. Hope you bring something home to put on the grill

Great list! I have a bit of a candle addiction myself and starting to have a perfume one as well! Walk on Air by Kate Spade is my new fave.

I've never had a professional massage! I will have to add that to my idea least for future treat yo self days!

I signed up for a sign language class, which is something I've wanted to learn since I was a kid. The pre-surgery (and almost 300lb) me wouldn't have signed up for fear of being the heaviest person or just in general being self conscious of being in an unknown social situation. I would have told myself it was because the time or the money or the drive... But now 70lbs are gone and so is my inhibition!

Saturday my family is having a get together and the headline reads: BYOB, bring a snack or dessert and chip in for pizza. Obviously not sleeve friendly. The day of the get together I will be almost 5 weeks post op and in the soft food stage. Any suggestions on what I could bring to appear normal but also have something to eat? Or am I stuck being the weirdo eating out of my lunchbox? I'm okay with it if I am but I'd appreciate recipes or suggestions!

Help: 1st Family Gathering Post Op
MayMarie replied to MayMarie's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
This was my first time being around people I didn't discuss the surgery with beforehand. If not for one Facebook status immediately post-op no one would have known except my boyfriend and best friends. Vaguely regretting that but I'm only friends with two coworkers on Facebook who work different shifts or departments than I do. Hoping I can keep it somewhat under wraps at work? I guess we will see March 1st -
Help: 1st Family Gathering Post Op
MayMarie replied to MayMarie's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
It went really well. My dad had WLS surgery a few years ago so my family has been exposed to this before. When I first got there I got a couple "you look great" and "how are you feelings" from my aunts and a cousin, and one "how much have you lost". I answered and it was over within a few minutes and we all just went about our business. There was a veggie tray and cheese, cheeseball, and crackers in addition to my appetizer. Everyone else ate pizza later on and I just made two meals of the appetizers over the day. -

Old Navy used to have a "Diva" cut jean and those were my go to. Sadly I recently learned they were discontinued and I'm about to fall out of my last fitting pair :'( -

shaved from ankles to armpits!
MayMarie replied to pammycakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was January 18th. I just shaved my legs again for the first time today (a little over a month out). I probably could have done it comfortably a week ago but at that point I was just cold and lazy. I hiked my legs up on the sink to shave (I have a standing shower, no tub). -

I am no longer morbidly obese and would no longer qualify for bariatric surgery! This is totally a scale victory but I'm pretty happy with my one month follow up. Down 30lbs since surgery and 60lbs from my highest weight.

Following because I have the same problem -
As far as the payment for a date goes... Unless the guy is a total turd during the date I offer to go Dutch. They always insist they pay (most men see it as a statement of their manliness to pay for at least the first 3 dates it seems). I feel like the man should pay for the first date but after that it's very nice but unnecessary.

I think I'm going to make meatballs! I thought about deviled eggs but I need to get one of those fancy egg pans so they don't end up a mess. Lol. Thank you all for the suggestions! There are so many options but I just couldn't think of any.
