The pureed and soft stages felt like they took forever. The first month or two after surgery were pretty rough and I found myself questioning my decision but I promise you it gets better and easier! My life is pretty normal now and has been for a couple months. I have never been to the support group

My surgery was 1/18/16 with Dr. Moon at St. Elizabeth. Where did you have yours? And where are you at in your diet stages?

Question for fellow nurses/hospital staff.
MayMarie replied to CardinalsGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My hospital has 3 locations. Only 1 location performs WLS (not the one I work at, but I do get pulled there on occasion). I didn't tell anyone and I worked in the float pool at the time so when they all said "I haven't worked with you in a while" they assumed I had been assigned to other units. I actually planned on telling people but I had a panic reaction and lied and now I regret it occasionally. People comment on my weight loss almost daily. One nurse supervisor that works at both locations I guess saw me in her admissions list and knew I had surgery. After my surgery I got pulled to the ICU at my sister location and she told people while I was there that I had surgery. I sent her an email telling her I don't discuss it at work and asked her to respect my privacy. Her response was "she didn't even think about it" which really kind of ticked me off that a nurse supervisor "didn't even think" about violating my HIPPA rights.. She also said "people are going to notice" I didn't even respond. -

For 3 days I have stepped on the scale and the first number was a ONE!! I waited 3 days to post because I was convinced my scale was pranking me! The last time I weighed <200 was 12+ years ago in elementary school or early junior high. I'm so unbelievably excited that this is real! I can't believe I weighed almost 100lbs more than I do right now just a year ago. Highest weight/SW: 297.6 lbs Surgery 1/18/16: 267.6 lbs GW: 150 lbs Current weight: 198.4 lbs!!!!!! Total loss: 99.2 lbs

Terrified at 23
MayMarie replied to lippyprincess93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on January 18, 2016. I was 23 at the time (turned 24 in Feb). I am a little less than 6 months out from surgery and I have had a total weight loss of 97lbs, 67lbs of those pounds since my surgery date! My life has changed in many ways all for the better. I feel like a new person. The first few weeks after surgery are difficult but once you get through them life is relatively normal. I do not regret my decision at all and it was worth every tear shed and spoonful of mush eaten in the beginning stage! -

Ladies: Bra Suggestions for Post-Op Recovery Period?
MayMarie replied to gina171's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I wore sports bras as much as possible for two months after surgery. They were just more comfortable. I only had one very small incision a few inches below my bra band -

Yesterday I had a bad diet day. I had people over for a game night and participated in the demolishing of a pack of m&m Cookies. I went to bed feeling guilty and upset with myself. I am SO close to reaching onederland and a 100lbs loss (currently 204.0, 197.6 will be -100lbs). Today I refocused, worked out with my trainer, it's only 12:30pm and I'm half way to my Water and Protein goals! If I can do it SO CAN YOU! If you had a bad day brush it off and start over. We can do this! -
My MIL-to-be took this picture at a family outing today. This is the first time I've really been able to see the progress. First picture was taken September 2015 about 280lbs. The second was taken today (I'll be 3 months post op 4/18) 215.0 lbs. Wearing the same shirt in both pictures... I'm speechless and so glad I did this.

Curious about how many surgical incisions you had?
MayMarie replied to KELLIEDN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had 6. But 4 of them are only one cm in length. They need places for the blades, suction, etc. to go through. -
I chose not to tell any of my coworkers because I didn't want to have the same conversation and answer the same 5 questions from 50 different people. Most people just say "you're looking good" or "good job". The occasional person will ask what I'm doing to which I say low carbs, high protein and working out. My medical history is no ones business but my own!

Women....painful sex after WLS?
MayMarie replied to ashleypriv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe your body is telling you it needs more time before that particular activity -
I'm 3 months out and it's rare that anything tastes good in the same way for me. I still crave things but even if I indulge I take a couple bites and am turned off by it. Everything your describing sounds completely normal though. It gets easier to eat enough volume and calories with time
