When I went to my 2nd appointment with my new PCP I advise her that I would need a letter of recommendation and support for WLS. She seemed as if she had no idea as to why she would need to write it. So I sent her a message via the hospital's messaging system. She sent me a message back saying that she would include it in my paperwork. Here is the message I sent and please tell me if I should do an actual letter with more detail.

Consultation 1/21 Labwork 1/22 PCP 2/4 2/18 Nutrition Class 2/23 New Psych Evaluation So far this is what I have done and what is on the list. Consult went great and the Labwork was done. I now have Vitamins to take and I saw my PCP where I asked for letter of recommendation and support. I just left my therapist (whom I currently see)and she said she won't write me a letter of approval because that is Not her department. She seemed upset that I had asked her. She doesn't want me to use the Bariatric Center I am with. She would prefer that I switch. So now I will have an appointment with a different place for a psych evaluation 2/23. I would have made the appointment in January had I known it would have been a problem. That aggravates me.

Ok so the therapist is someone that I already see and for insurance purposes I have to have both from PCP and Psych Evaluation. I like the Center that I go to. She prefers the Center that is affiliated with the company she works for. I am just going to stay where I am currently and see the other place for psych evaluation.

@@Rainy Days it seems that every insurance company is different and some can have the same company but live in a different state which would make requirements different as well. Lol

CONGRATS CONGRATS CONGRATS!!!! I'm so Happy for you

I did tell her that I would need another letter for clearing me for surgery. It just seems like this PCP is not familiar with the WLS process
-
My insurance and the Bariatric office requires the letter. I really hope that she can get the letter done and the right way as soon as possible. I still have to complete the 6 months which I started on 1/21.

This was my 2nd visit to this PCP but my actual 1st visit with just her. The initial visit she had a resident take my history information. I did tell her about weightloss attempts and that I was considering Bariatric surgery however I don't think that the resident put any of that information in my chart. But I'm confused about the PCP being confused on how to write the letter etc. She seemed to be on the same page and agreeing how WLS can help me all until I said Letter.

To tell or not to tell? WLS
MsB7 replied to RLH7882's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
5 years ago my sis didn't tell many people. She told our dad, her husband and myself. She told our mom the day of surgery by voicemail. Of course mom told grandma and by the time my sister came home everyone knew. So I learned not to say much and Please keep It Private is something I am serious about. -

Thanks.. I'm glad to hear of little to No issues after surgery. I am aware of some things that I eat now which cause me trouble but not everything.
