I'm here...FINALLY! I am penciled in for the 12th. They said it may be moved to the 19th when I come in for my preop appointment based on the surgeon's schedule. For now I am going to plan for the 19th and will just be pleasantly surprised if it happens earlier.
-
Me too! I'm not exactly official, but very close!! I should be official tomorrow or Tuesday(with insurance). Once that comes through, I will meet with my surgeon and have my date finalized, it's one of two days at this point.
-
Are you guys just crazy excited or what? I'm damn near obsessed! I ordered a bunch of protein shakes/puddings from New Lifestyle and am getting ready for my liquid diet. I'll be doing it for 10 days. Do you guys have to do the liquid diet as well? For how long?

Blund - In response to "No wonder everyone talks about the terrible gas pains during recovery! I'll be sure and ask my surgeon to suck out as much of that air as possible!! Sheeeeesh!" I am LMAO!!!! You're too funny!

Oh dear God! There are two threads for the 19th...I seriously thought I was going crazy. Hmm, mystery solved!

I'm even more excited now, my paperwork was sent to insurance on the 15th. I called today to check in and got GREAT news. She said "Well, everything looks good they're just waiting on one more thing" Uh-oh, I thought something hadn't been received but they are actually just waiting for verification that the hospital was in network. Well, I know it is because our insurance comes through that hospital...my hubby is an MD AT Alegent!!!!! I think this means approval will be final on Monday or Tuesday!!! YIPEE!!!!! -
Okay, I must be delirious with happiness because I SWORE I posted this just a few minutes ago...I'm penciled in for surgery on the 12th but she said based on how my surgeon's schedule looks this week, they'll likely have to do it on the 19th. I'm going to plan it for that and if they do it sooner, GREAT!!!! My insurance has mostly approved me. They said they're just waiting to make sure the hospital is in network. That's plain crazy because my insurance is through that hospital....SO it looks like I'm finally in!!! I'm so happy I could scream.

Woohoo!!!!!! They just penciled me in for surgery on the 12th of March! Holy cow, how fast is that?? I was hoping for late March/early April. They did say that after my appointment at the beginning of March and depending upon the surgeons schedule for that week they may hve to move it back to the 19th which would still be amazing. I'm just delighted!!!!!! -
Yay!! I can't wait to feel the same way!

Aqua - I have Lumenos. They don't require MD assisted, just well documented.

Height and weight before surgery??
pearlygirl replied to jacobsmomma02's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to the BMI calculator you are at 36.2. Most insurance companies require a BMI of 40 OR a BMI of 35 with 2 comorbidities. If you are self pay there would obviously be no problems. -
My insurance does accapt weight watchers, jenny craig etc. Call your Ins company and see what they say, it's worth a shot.

Getting Ready For An Appeal 08/30/07

Good luck with your upcoming surgery. -
I think it's a non-adjutable band - no fills or anything so it wasn't incredibly effective. I watch Big Medicine too and looked it up after I saw that.
-
This is hysterical!! I would so sign up for it!! Hahahahahaha!!!!
-
Me too!!! I am so hopeful. I just got everything submitted to my insurance company on Thursday...now I wait!!

Is your doc familiar with the lap band? I would try for a 2nd opinion. GB has more complications and higher mortality, it changes your anatomy and is causes malabsorption as well. If YOU are comfortable with it and feel it's good for you...go for it. Many people get GB and do very, very well. Having said that, statistics show that after two years weightloss is about the same with both and with lab band peolpe tend to keep the weight off easier than GB. It's worth looking into and finding info on both but don't be pressured by your doc. Do what YOU are comfortable with and You think is best. Good luck!!

I didn't think I'd EVER be able to say that everything was complete and ready to turn over to my insurance company, but it IS!!!!! I just got a call from the surgeon's office and it was officially submitted yesterday!! Now I just wait. The coordinator believes that I will be approved and hopefully should hear something in the next couple of weeks! I could be banded as soon as 4-5 weeks! I am just so excited to have gotten over the appointments/paperwork/pulling it all together hump!! Yay!!

I'm SOOOOOOOOO excited!!!
pearlygirl replied to pearlygirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Great news! I hope mine is that quick and easy. I'm not scheduled yet, but they told me they are about a month out. I'm assuming that I'll be scheduled when approved so a month from then. Maybe mid to late March?? -
I'm SOOOOOOOOO excited!!!

Thanks. I am super excited. I really felt like we'd never be ready to turn it over to insurance. I just noticed that the only punctuation I used throughout that entire post were exclamations!! LOL!! -
I believe it is within reach. I'm 5'9" and 277. I think to officially be a BMI of 25 I need to weigh 169. I'd be thrilled in the 185-190 range. I'm not looking to be skinny. I just REALLY want to be healthy and have more energy. I do not want my one year old to remember me as a fat mommy. I hope to be banded late March.

Thinking about lapband and expense
pearlygirl replied to Chelsie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That isn't exactly true. I've been overweight for 10ish years and only been with this insurance company for 6-7 months. They are going through my paperwork now to see if I qualify by their standards and length of obesity is only HELPING me prove my case. -
Okay, so my surgeon said that I will need to continue drinking 64oz of water after the band. I've also read in the material he gave me that you cannot drink for 30 minutes before or 60 minutes after meals. He prefers that I eat 4-5 small meals daily. So four meals means no drinking for 8 hours during the day. Here are my questions...how and when do you get your fluids in? How much can you drink at one time? I know you can't gulp your fluids, it says to sip...can you continually sip so that you're actually just drink a glass of water very slowly, how slow do you have to go? Thanks in advance!

One of my favorites from the South beach diet(that just happens to be mushy) was cottage cheese with some sugar free jello thrown in. Just chop up the jello and stir it together...it was almost like cottage cheese with fruit, but no carbs!!
