I was banded on Nov. 8th and my first fill is scheduled for December 21st. Your fill does seem early but I'm new at all of this. Maybe it depends on what size band you have. Mine holds 4cc and I currently have no fill. I have heard people on the board with the VG mention that they were given some fill during surgery. It never hurts to call your doctor's office and ask them for clarification. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

An absolutely spoiled rotten Siamese named Niele allows me to live in the house with her. Niele's name is Hawaiian and means inquisitive. She is definitely that. When I got her she weighed 3/4 of a pound. I've owned Siamese all my life and they are incredible creatures. I had my last one for 20 years.

Congratulations on your band. The shoulder pain is from gas. I was banded two weeks ago and mine is rare now. Gas X and a heating pad helped me. It also helps to walk around a lot. Take it easy and welcome to the board.

I use the Body Fortress whey Protein powder-vanilla. It doesn't taste bad at all especially if you mix it with low sugar orange juice. It has 20grams of protein in one scoop. I buy mine at Walmart and the best part is the price. Also I love the Natures Plus, Source of Life liguid Vitamins. Someone on the board recommended them and I got some. I have my Mom who is 66 taking them and she also swears she has more energy. I used to take lots of vitamins in pill form and these are definitely better. I found mine at Drug Emporium's Health food store but I've heard that they are also available at the Vitamin Shop and online. Good luck on your surgery and keep us updated on your progress. Kendra

My doctor said that the longer they stayed on the better.

My OB and surgeon said the the surgery should not effect my birthcontrol. My OB did say that I might have some breakthrough bleeding which often occurs when your body is going through major changes.

Today is my first day on soft foods so I can definitely relate. Are you drinking enough protein shakes? That seemed to help me. My doctor recommends 60 grams a day so I tried to get in 3 shakes a day. Good luck and hang in there!

I want to live and enjoy a healthy life. My ankles hurt when I got out of bed. I found myself not wanting to go places that I used to love because I knew that within 20 minutes I would be in terrible pain. Except for Sleep Apnea and joint pain, I don't have any other co-morbidities. I had lap band to help me control my weight so that hopefully I won't develop any more.

I was banded on the 7th and have had the same thing happen to me. I had my one week post-op today and I asked the nurse about it. She said that it is gas. She said that the gas is being released through a much smaller opening than before and that your body is still adjusting. Mine is happening at times when I'm not eating so this made sense to me. I guess we just have to remember, "This too shall pass."

Well, I made it! Tuesday evening and Wednesday were pretty rough days. Today, however, was soooooooo much better. I think that a huge part of my pain was the gas which seem to be much better now. I'm walking quite a bit which seems to help. I worry that maybe I'm drinking too much Water. I know that they say to take sips and I'm trying to do that. Did any of you drink a lot after surgery and did you have any problems with it? How much is too much? Kendra

Hang in there. I was banded on Tuesday and it does get better. Try sucking on ice chips in addition to drinking water. This helped me a lot.

Thank you so much for the comments. I think that I'm okay on the Water. I'm feeling more comfortable with the band each day. If I could just get this gas/heartburn thing under control, I'd be home free. Regarding time off of work, I'm going back on Monday. I'll go back and teach for a week and then be off a week for Thanksgiving break. Since I teach first grade, I am going to have to let my little know not to hug too tightly. They are very affectionate which is wonderful but could be a bit painful.

I know I won't have time to say thanks in the morning since I have to leave so early. Tomorrow I will join the ranks of the banded. Ya'll have been a tremendous support for me. I truly feel at peace with my decision and know that God will take care of me. Thanks for everything! Kendra
