    Coming out of lurk mode

Welcome to the board. After noticing that you are from Texas, I looked at your profile. I am a teacher also. I teach 1st grade. In fact there are several of us around here. We have learned what is easier to eat during that very short 30 minutes that we get so holler if you have any questions and good luck.

Anxious to get it behind me!!!

Welcome. It sounds like you have a good attitude. Admitting that you have to change your ways is the first step. You also came to this board which is a great start. There are so many wonderful people here. Remember the the pre-op diet will help you change your mindset. It also helps shrink your liver which makes the surgery easier for the surgeon which means easier on you. At the end of my two weeks on liquids, I stepped on the scale and was thrilled. Talk about a boost right before surgery. I promise it is worth it! Hang in there and good luck.

    Introduction

Welcome to Bandland as Jack likes to say. You are right about not being alone. The great thing about this board is that there are so many people with a variety of experiences that someone is bound to relate to your problem. Hang in there and remember that your body needs time to heal so you don't want to move to the next stage until your doctor says it is safe. When I was on the liquid stage, I had to make sure I drank enough Protein shakes. They helped with the hunger. Good luck and you may want to browse through the old post in the food section. There are some great suggestions for the liquid phase.

You are such a special person. I noticed on another thread that despite your own aches and pains, you are worrying about others. I'm sorry to hear that things were so tough for you. I'm sending prayers and a big HUG your way!

    Disappointed ....Sad

I'm so sorry you're feeling down. Please don't be too hard on yourself. The wonderful nurse at my doctor's office says that it is very common for people to gain a few pounds after surgery and before their first fill. They told me this when I went in 1 week post op so that I wouldn't worry if it happened to me. This will work for you because you will make it work. This is a wonderful place to be for support. Hang in there. I'm sending a big HUG your way!

    I did it!!!!

That's wonderful news. I can't wait to join you. Keep up the great work!!
  23. You've gotten some good advice from the others. I would definitely talk to a lap band surgeon before doing anything. I was on Optifast for two weeks before surgery. It was required by my surgeon but believe it or not I'm glad I did it. Knowing that I would be having surgery(and having an incredible family) helped me stick with it. I feel like that it was much easier for me after surgery because I had gotten used to liquids and had already gone through some mental battles and had the right mind set. Keep in mind that all doctors require different things before surgery. Good luck to you and keep us posted.
