langloi3 started following Surgery today. Miserable...any advice?, Sleeved on 1/18, 4 weeks post op and diarrhea and and 4 others
-
So i hit the 4 week mark and I was doing great, no nausea ever, no vomiting or diarrhea. Eating regular food (limited amounts ofcourse ) getting majority of my water and protien in, things were really looking great. Then monday morning came and i started with severe diarrhea. I mean in 12 hours o went over 30 times. Spent most of the day on the toilet because it was running out of me. I ended up in the hospital admitted due to severe dehydration. But my doc and other docs think it is due to dietary non compliance. I work night shift and I am a nurse so when I work i normally supplement with protien shakes because it is easier and quicker. The night before I only had water and protien shakes so there is no way my diarrhea was from something i ate. Has this happend to anyone else?

I felt the same way. As soon as it came out i felt so much better. Most of the time the drain sits right by your diaphragm so it causes alot discomfort. As soon as it came out this pain i had in my upper middle stomach suddenly disappeared! Don't get discouraged its coming out tomorrow, soon you wont even remember a thing about it. Its all just part of the process! Good luck

YES! Sashimi is awesome, sits so well in my stomach. Everytime my friends want to go out to eat i suggest a sushi restraunt because its something i can eat easily and there is such a wide variety, today was salmon and yellowtail! Makes me feel normal when going to a restaurant lol glad you have found the something you can eat and more importantly love to eat that is healthy as well! -
Just looking for some words of wisdom from anyone who experienced the flu or getting sick not realted to the surgery shortly after having it. I am 3 weeks post op and woke up today with a sore throat, body aches, nausea, fever. This is horrible. 10x worse than anything related to the surgery. Cant swallow, cant take ibprohen. Tylenol is just not cutting it. I am struggling to get fluids in just eating popcicles. Protien is not happening today. Anyone else go thru this? Any advice?

So you were on full liquids for 3 weeks before pureed food? Wow thats will power! Great job! My doctor said i can start eating regular food this Thursday as long as it is soft and not dry. I have already been on pureed for one week, it was a very slow go, mostly full liquids anyways. Surgery was on the 18th. Its been great. Good luck tomorrow!

Yes gatorade zero is a life saver glad your doing well!

You're allowed to eat that?? I'm on full liquids until February 1st Yah jan 28th i started pureed diet. I have a magic bullet so i practically made it all into baby food. The squash i made very liquidy so its almost like Soup it goes down better. But the egg puree i made like devil eggs and whipped it. Its really good and easy on my stomach and high protien. I used cottage cheese and 1 teaspoon of fat free mayo and 12 egg yolks. The avocado the same i whipped it in my bullet and its great. I even had some cream of wheat with cinnamon and the stevia brown sugar, that was good too on my stomch. Keep in mind im only eating a few small teaspoons and im full. But my surgeon said i was good to go. One week from now i start regular soft moist foods.

Sooo today im 10 days post op and I finally feel like a normal person again. I ate some egg and tuna and butternut squash and avocado for breakfast. Only about 2 or 3 teaspoons of each and it took me about an hour and a half to finish it but hey its real food and i was able to tolerate it. There is hope ! Lol now onto my protien shake and water

I havent had even one day where i was able to get in my water or protien. But im trying! Its so crazy how I went from feeling bad abotut how much I was eating to feeling bad about how much I am not eating!

Surgery today. Miserable...any advice?

I had my surgery last monday. The first day I felt the same, literally just sat at the side of the bed and got nauseated. But the second morning was a little bit better and i was able to walk. Later on the second day was terrible. The worst day so far. Lots of pain and dry heaves. But i took the nausea meds and kept walking regarless. By Wednesday ( my 3rd day) i felt so much better. Just remember it does get better. Every single day you will feel a little bit better. They say the second day is the worst. And i believe that. Stay focused and you will make it thru. I am a 9 days post op and feel great! You will get there! Stay strong -

Hi guys. I am one week post op today. Day 2 was the worst. I had alot of pain but my situation was a little differnt than most people. I ended up with an arterial line in my wrist and central line in my neck and drain on my right side of my abdomen. The first full day I couldnt move because of the arterial line taking blood pressures internally. So by the second day I was full of air. Thankfully the 3rd day was great and since then I have no pain and forget I even had surgery last week. Im using isopure drinks (for protien) since it is easier to drink clear liquids than the creamed stuff. I am so excitrd to start my pureed diet on Thursday!
