I have a few good books as well. Can I ask what books you have?

I don't buy that for a minute! I've lost over 100 lbs with the lapband. Seems like most of the time people that have gone a different route want to bash lapband. I know just as many people who have had trouble with the sleeve, or bypass. It's a personal thing. That being said, I'd contact the surgeon. You possibly need a fill or some advice as to what you can do.

What does your doctor say? Are you following the guidelines you are supposed to be following? I would think by now your physician would be concerned.

NEWBIE NEEDS SUPPORT....

If you still, after a day or two, have a hard time with water, definitely call your surgeon. Mine has me drink water before I leave his office. -
Lap band surgery since November 23,2016 and not losing enough weight
grammy4 replied to PatriciaBe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't lose quickly at first, either, but now, 2 years in, I'm down 100 lbs. Hang in there. Get more active! -
I'm always crazy scared about slippage as well, but my dr. told me that only about 2-3% of bands ever slip. I keep trying to remind myself of that. Your band could be too tight. I was having a lot of acid reflux at night and that was my problem.

Hey need some friends that can relate
grammy4 replied to sharktank's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've had my band for 2 years and I've lost almost 110 lbs. Sometimes I fluxuate, but my weight has steadily, and most of the time slowly, come off. I'd re-evaluate what you are eating and if you are able to eat a full plate of food, you need it tightened. -
@bayougirlmrsc You are an inspiration! I have had my band for a little over 2 years and have lost almost 100 lbs.

That happened to a friend. She had some liquid taken out due to some acid reflux and gained some that month, but after the fill she's back on track. Good luck!!
-
I don't know! I wish you luck however. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this board---hopefully someone will have an answer for you!
-
I agree with everything she said. Only thing is, there are a lot of GB and sleevers that seem to seek out only to bash banders. Wonder why this is??

Haha...I never experienced that! You'll do great. To be honest, I know 6 people with bands and none have had any serious issues. Good luck and keep us posted!

I agree!!!

I got my band 2 years and one month ago. I've had a steady weight loss--some months better than others, but I've lost 93 lbs. I've had a few bumps along the way--I mean there have been times that I've thrown up--and I've had a struggle with reflux the past month or so, but I'm happy with my loss. I have a friend who got the gastric sleeve about 8 years ago and lost some weight, but she's put almost all of it back on. The band is a tool....not a miracle weight loss machine. It sounds like you're doing great. Losing slowly is the best way!

What is a Z Line?
-
Well, I've lost 90 lbs with the band, so I don't agree that it does not work. I've had a few issues with reflux, but I'm pretty good if I don't eat after 7 p.m. One thing I hear from people who have the sleeve is some wish they had the band so they could have some control over it (with fills). I live in a small town and I know 2 people who have the sleeve and have lost weight only to regain it. I think a lot of success is based on how you eat and how much and how often.

No, but I have noticed I get random bruises in places on my stomach--not around the port. Right now, my stomach is a little swollen--I can feel a 'bump' and I have 2 bruises right beside it.
-
Yes, I take a generic Prilosec each evening (because I take an NSAID for arthritis), and I try not to eat after 7 pm. That's tough for me sometimes. It does help. Yes, I think it'll be interesting to see the test results. Let us know!
-
Well, not sure! I was experiencing reflux, but after a little Fluid was removed, I am fine. What does your dr. say?
-
I usually can't eat bread--sometimes I can eat toast. Try eating the meat only. Eating slowly makes more of a difference for me than anything. After I swallow, sometimes I just wait a minute before I take another bite. I also take small bites. I also think that what I might be able to eat one day, I can't eat another.

I had my surgery almost 2 years ago and have just lost 70 lbs---you are doing ok! I know some have more to lose than others. Just keep working at it---
-
Two years after my surgery, I have started having it as well. My dr. said not to eat 3 hours before bedtime--also said they sometimes take a little Fluid out. I didn't want that done, so I continue with my previcid and keep Rolaids by my bed! Not eating close to bedtime does help!

A friend said she had this problem. She said what she did was about 30 minutes before dinner, she'd take a bite or two of something, and then by dinner, she was able to eat. I'm sorry--hope this helps!

Great!
