Day 3 of pre op diet

Hello! I just passed the half way point on my pre-op. Surgery on the 15th!. Two things really help me. One is finding things (on program!) to add to the shakes/broth. Two of my favorites are vanillia unjury with punkin spice added; and unflavored unjury mixed with heated skim milk and add cinnamon. Are you allowed decaffe coffee? Protein power with milk and decaf coffee makes a kinda latte. I've also tried (with nut's blessing) the sugar free Torani syrups. I just keep experiementing and pretending that I get to "cook" my meals. Only focus on today, if I think about how long I have to go I immediatly get hungry! I plan to spend this weekend cleaning, laundry, just staying busy to disctract myself! You CAN DO THIS!!!!!

    Is your surgery a secret?

i told everyone, but that is just my personality. I respond to stress by oversharing and refusing to shut up about it! I have a two-week pre-op diet and my goal is to not make every conversation about Protein shakes! There is not any one way to respond, every person needs different things. I'm lucky cause I work with a lot of nurses and they are mostly currious about the medical stuff whithout much judging. Sounds like your co-workers need a lesson boundries. Maybe find a good comeback for the jokes?
  5. Amazing job with the weight loss! I hesitate to give advice because this is such a personal descision. This is my story, maybe it will help. I started losing weight during the pre-op phase, about 10 pounds in the first three weeks! I got to the point of submitting for insurance approval when I started to seriously question the surgery. We refer to this as the "massive freak out" phase. I told the surgeon I changed my mind. I knew that I could say "no" to the surgery and later change my mind. But when you say "yes", you can't change your mind after the surgery. "No" is not a permenent decision. "Yes" is a permenent decision. That gave me serious pause. I said no to the surgery, and immediately started to gain weight. I literally stopped at TGI Fridays on my way home from the doctor’s office! I gained the weight back. Three months later, I was back at the doctor’s office. I am glad I had my massive freak out. It is part of my journey and gave me the reassurance that I was making the right choice for me. I am now 100% positive that this surgery is medically necessary. Only you can decide if this is the right path for you.

To tell or not to tell? WLS

I'm telling people, when I received insurance approval I even posted on Facebook "Insurance approval for weight loss surgery has arrived! Yippee! Starting to schedule pre-op testing. Btw: anyone with a snarky comment about surgery being the easy way out will fall victim to my evil death ray..." Mostly possitive responses. I have one cousin who is a nurse and expressed concerns and reminders about the importance of post op care. She was respectful, just worried. I work at a nursing home so my coworkers have seen what a lifetime of obesity will do to the human body. I'm gay and my coming out experience built up a tough skin. Compared to that, this is a walk in the park!
  7. I thought I was the only one who dreams of riding coasters! My niece and I are very close. Her birthday party is always at holiday world (southern Indiana). It is a very hilly park and I don't fit on the rides. I always made an excuse about having school finals, being "sick", or being too far to drive. I want to ride coasters and see my niece on her birthday! I also want to run a marathon and never again have a stranger ask me if I'm expecting twins.
