Mini, when did you start solids? I am three weeks out and I started trying some stuff but chewing very well. I am now getting scared that I may be doing some harm. How do I know if I have stretched the band or if has slipped? I have read on other posts that it is easy to have band slippage if you do not follow the post-op diet very carefully. Is there a way the fill doctor can check if everything is ok. -

Hi guys, I got my first fill scheduled for August 13. Yeah!!!!! Mini, how much fill did you get? I hope I feel like you do when I get mine. Weight loss has stopped. I even gained a pound but I feel so constipated. I took some Milk of Magnesia and it helped a little. Lotza: Congratulations on the job. Can someone send me a copy of the post-op diet. I can't find mine and I always like to refer back to it? THANKS! -

I was banded on the 17th also and I am soooo hungry in the evening. I do very well in the morning but I can't stop eating after dinner. You ate two crackers and pate' for dinner and that was it. I wish I had that kind of restriction. I had a cup of ckn noodle Soup and scrambled eggs for dinner. I still was only at 800 calories for the day but I feel like eating all the time. -

I guess when I entered everything into thedailyplate.com, it only came to 800 calories. I guess I am eating the right foods but it seems like I am eating more than I should. -

Hi everyone, I will start my weigh in at 259. I think that the challenge ends on my b-day which is on Sept. 1. Meeting my goal would be a good present to myself. I know I am in bandster hell but I think TOM will be coming soon and I am starving. All I want to to is eat. I am going to confess what I ate today and tell me if I am going to stretch my pouch. B: 2 scrambled eggs with a slice of cheese melted on top L: 1-1/2 cups of pureed soup S: cup of watermelon D: cup of soup; 2 scrambled eggs with a slice of cheese melted on top S: 5 club crackers Does that seem like way too much? I am still hungry!! I read posts on here where people only eat 1 cup TOTAL for their all dinner. How do most people eat while they are in "bandster hell"? -
I think I suck!

Going back to work will help. May I ask why you took one month off from work? I found the going back to work in a week helped me get my mind off of food. It doesn't sound like you are going to eat enough. You will end up eating too much after you get home. I would drink at least 3 protein drinks per day if you are going to eat light. -
Just remember....not all accomplishments are on the scale. You should be VERY proud of the exercise. You're body is just adjusting to the changes and after a while if you keep it up you will start seeing inches (not pounds) coming down and clothes fitting better. The pounds will come. I have heard that sometimes you need 2 or 3 fills before you feel restriction. I know that I am in "bandster hell" right now because I have not had my first fill yet and my appetite is coming back. All of this is normal from what I heard. I am trying my best to NOT eat as much as I did before because I am afraid of stretching my pouch. I find drinking more Protein drinks and lots of Water help with my appetite. Call for another fill and keep chugging along.

Mini, I am using thedailyplate.com also. Are you eating 1000 calories with or without counting the exercise. I usually eat the same but when I add cleaning the house or shopping all day (I haven't started real exercise yet) it gives me alot more calories to use. How do you do yours. -

am I slipping??
BellaPerdente replied to KayleighsMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are definitely right about it not being the easy road. The REASON I am so heavy is because food is an addiction...a friend...the devil!! I am sure most people who are heavy will agree that the reason they want to have the lapband is because they can't control the amount of food they eat. We are all hoping to beat this addiction, which is worse than being a drug addict or an alcoholic because we do need food to survive. It is not easy to say goodbye to our old lives. The head hunger (mind games) are hard to handle some times but I agree that we have to FIGHT the demons to make this work. We are going to slip up sometimes...that is normal because we are not perfect. I fight with myself everyday. -

I went to three different surgeons on my journey, but ended with Dr. K in Denver because I was self-pay and he has a HUGE following. The difference in post-op diets was sooooo different between the surgeons. The first wanted me on 4 weeks of liquids....yikes! Nothing that wouldnt pour. Not even a popsicle. The second was as extreme but still on full liquids for 2 weeks after the clear phase. The third (who has done hundreds and hundreds of patients) only has us on clear liquids for 2 days, then to full for nine more days, then to mushies for a week and then to solids. When on solids, he wants us to add foods slowly so that we can see how our body reacts. -

Hi everyone, I think I will try this challenge. Put me down for 10 lbs. I am also in "Bandster Hell" and have been eating much more. Am I stretching my pouch???????? I am still trying to eat healthy but all I want to to is eat, eat, eat  I NEED TO BREAK THAT HABIT. So my challenge will be to lose 10 lbs. and walk for 30 minutes per day. -
I don't want to sound stupid, but what does NSV stand for?

Hey everyone, Just catching up on the posts. Mal, I will say a prayer for your son's friend. That is terrible how long he had to stay before getting medical attention. How scared he must have been! Did the friends he was wrestling with not know he was hurt?? I am feeling pretty good. I am getting hungrier these days. It doesn't even feel like I have a band. Everything goes down pretty good and I can eat more than I thought I would be able to. I thought you would PB or slime or something if you ate too much????? Today was Kacie's birthday (Kacie said Happy B-day Dee!!) and we went to a restaurant. I ordered mashed potatoes. I was looking around and watching everyone eat steak, ckn wings, hugh burgers and ICE CREAM CAKE. Everything smelled soooo good. I felt a little sorry for myself but I am not going to let it bother me. If I am going to change my life, I am going to have to make sacrifices. -
13 days post-op and feeling desperate
BellaPerdente replied to lafrogura's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 12 days post-op and I feel hungry too. Some days are worst than others. Today, I had coffee for Breakfast and didn't feel hungry until about 2:00 p.m. I had a Protein shake. Around 3, I warmed up a can of Healthy Request Cream of chicken Soup and sipped that for about 2 hours. We all went to dinner for my daughter's b-day and I ordered a side of mashed potatoes (not many choices for mushies). I was feeling a little sorry for myself at the restaurant because the other ten people were ordering steak, chicken wings, giant burgers, etc. and I had an ice cream cake for my daughter. Every thing smelled sooooo good. How easy it would have been to just take a bite of this or that. Well, that was my old ways and I have GOT to make a permanent life style change. I really notice that if I drink at least two Protein shakes and lots of Water, it helps me fight off the hunger. I am usually not starving like my mind says I am. I JUST WANT TO EAT!! Like I said old habits die hard. I am trying so hard to listen to my body and not mindless eating. KTB224: Try drinking more Protein shakes in between meals. I know they are more calories but they are more filling than Jello cups (and you need the protein). -
13 days post-op and feeling desperate
BellaPerdente replied to lafrogura's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like you. I am 11 days out and I am needing more food to stay full. I hear of these people eating 1/2 cup of food spread over 30 minutes and I say...What!!! It only takes me 15 minutes and I am forcing myself to slow down. I am eating about 1-1/2 cup of soup and still feel hungry after and then eat a sf pudding. I know we are supposed to eat only until "satisfied" and I know that I could probably walk away without starving but in my mind I want more and the problem is I can eat more and not feel anything. Some people say when you eat too fast or too much, you will feel like PBing or sliming, but everything goes down good. I have even tried some solid food (chewed well) and it goes down good. What is my problem. I paid too much money and been through too much pain to let this fail. -
How much are you eating one week post-op??
BellaPerdente posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in my full liquids stage and I can have Soup as long as it is liquified (I use my blender until it is like broth...no pasta-usually something with vegetables). I am eating campells Soups (different kinds) and I can eat over a cup at a time and still feel hungry. My typical days menu: morning (11:00 a.m.) cup of soup (12:00) Protein shake sips of Water (4:00 p.m.) cup of soup (8:00 p.m.) cup of soup or sugar-free pudding sips of water Is this too much food? Why am I able to eat so much? Tonight I even had 1-1/2 cups of soup . I do feel full after that but I wasn't expecting to need so much all at once. Could I stretch my pouch from eating 1-1/2 cups of soup at one time? Please tell me how much some of you eat and drink in a day's time on the full liquid diet? I am so worried:confused: -
I felt the same way. I had surgery on the 17th and I am hungry. On the full liquid phase, you have more to chose from. I have been buying any kind of campbells soups and putting them in the blender to liquify and drinking that. soo good. I also have sugar-free chocolate pudding, yogurt, popsicles, sugar-free fudgesicles. Try some new stuff and maybe you won't feel deprived. I also wasn't getting enough protein and water and I think that is why I was feeling so hungry.

Did you say yogurt? Did you surgeon put you on a clear liquid diet for the first few days? I would call. I did not have anything come back up. they gave me a popsicle in the hospital and it was good. I did not force anything for a couple of days. Popsicle were my friend. -

Hi guys, just checking in. Had a bad day yesterday with head hunger. I guess I am still grieving my old life. I kinda had too much yesterday and was bummed about it. When I went to bed last night, I prayed for guidance and strength to fight the demons in my head and today was much better. I started to track my eating on mydailyplate.com and that is going to help. Deb: so sorry to hear about your dog. I hope that the vet can save him and he doesn't have to suffer. I emailed Natalie in Dr. K's office because I didn't even know what size band I had. I have a 10cc band. She said if I am getting hungry, I can try to slowly start the mushies phase. I am not sure if I should just stick it out another week of liquids. What do you guys think? I had two funerals in two days :smile2: First, a friend and co-worker of my late husband's fell from a roof at work and died. He was such a nice guy. When my husband was sick, he and a couple of guys came to my house and replaced by back steps (they were unsafe). The factory where they worked paid for everything. He even offered to paint my house. You gotta remember, I live in a small town and even the local factory is all home-town people and we are close-knit. I went to the funeral only to see all the guys my husband worked with and it brought back so many bad memories of my husband's funeral. Second, my uncle died. How sad that I only have two aunts on my mom's side of the family left. My brothers and I were talking and WE are now the old folks:( How fast time goes!! On a lighter note, a guy came into work today and said I was PRETTY!!!!! OMG....I said Thank You! Gee, and I only lost 20 lbs so far. My brother said he could tell in my face. I guess I am not so bloated like I was before the surgery. Too bad the guy was old!!! Oooh, I forgot, I am old too now. -
I am like you but I also like meat. My dinner plate always looked empty without a carb on it. My favorite dinner (lunch the next day) was grilled chicken breast with salsa and grated cheddar on top and a side dish of broccoli. YUM! I also made soup with chicken broth and grated cheddar (mock potato soup) and cauliflower. When the cauliflower was cooked good, I ran it through my ricer and it resembled rice in the soup. I know its a mind game but it was good and I had a cup at lunch.

Honesty... are you up for it?
BellaPerdente replied to themis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon would not let me go until someone was there to pick me up. It is very dangerous to drive with all the meds. Plus, believe me, you will not feel like it. Have you ever had major surgery before? I usually have a hard time staying awake the first day after surgery. The anesthesia makes me tired and nauseus (sp ?).
