  1. I am soooo excited. I am down 5 lbs. this week. I weighed in at 251. One more week to go. The last weigh-in is on my b-day. I hope I get my last two pounds off.
  2. Hey Dee...I love Barry Manilow. I also love REO Speedwagon. I saw them four times in concert. Anyone else have trouble eating salmon? I PB'd twice today because of it. That is very painful!!!!!
  3. Well said guys. I guess I am thinking of my mom. She was widowed at an early age also (I was only 2 when my dad died) and did not EVER put herself out there again. She raised us kids alone and I know that she was lonely. I don't want to be in that same boat. We can blink an eye and we are old and life has passed us by. My husband loved me no matter what and he was a good-looking, well-built guy. I don't know if I will ever find that again. Munchkin, I am so sorry for your run of bad luck. How does you neighbors know that the fence is on their property? Are they getting ready to sell? I know, wishful thinking! Did they already have it surveyed? Hey....I'm Italian and you could tell them that you know someone who "is in the mob" and knows how to make people back-off:wink2: Well...I don't really know someone....but I do have lots of "Uncles" lol
  4. Ok guys I need to vent. I guess I took a leap of faith and started a profile at match.com a while ago. I have winked, emailed and im'd. Nothing:cursing: Most guys want fit and slender women. No one even gives me a chance to get to know one another. What's the harm in talking. My profile picture is not too bad either. My daughter thinks it looks nice. I am feeling better about myself since I have started losing weight and I think I am ready to pursue a companion. I am not looking for a long-term relationship at this time but I would like to have someone to talk to and have the occasional date. Why are men so shallow. Should I take my picture off and let them get to know me first before they see me? Do men even look if there is no picture. Has anyone been on this site?
  5. Thanks so much for the advice. I have only bought one pack and I still have some after a week. I think it will be a little easier to put them down this time.

    Hungry

I was banded on 7/17 and went through the same things. I had my first fill on 8/13 and it helped for awhile but I am going for my second fill on 8/28. I am not going to suffer through this hunger thing when I have a tool inside me. I am going to be aggressive with the fills. As far as eating the wrong foods during the liquid stage...don't do it. It might go down easy but it is making your stomach work to digest it and that is dangerous as far as healing. The liquid phase gives your stomach time to heal while the stitches are in place. Be careful!
  7. Hi everyone: Dee, I hope that talking to someone helps you....you deserve to be happy. Will you be seeing him again? I wish I can talk to someone about how much food controls my life. I eat with every emotion. I have come to the conclusion that I have an addictive personality and whatever I do in life...I have to be addicted. I even started smoking again. If I can't eat...... Lifesaver: I pray for you for a speedy recovery and hope you can get back to your exercise. I admire you on your stamina. I wish I had it. I am having a hard time getting started on exercise. Lotza: I had my first fill last Wednesday. He put in 3cc's in my 10cc band. I felt good for a couple of days and now I am STARVING even more than before. What's weird is that I can't eat fast or it wants to come back up and it HURTS:eek:....but I can still eat too much food in one sitting as long as I chew good. I am being good about not drinking while eating and I am trying to eat protein first, but I am soo darn hungry. I wasn't supposed to go in for another fill until 9/17 but I called today and I am going back on 8/27 (Wed) for my second fill. I do not want to gain. Adork: glad you are feeling better and thanks for keeping track of our challenge.

S: 1 sugarfree chocolate pudding snack I see some of you eating only 1/4 cup of this or that. Are you really full with this or are you being really good about dieting, because I don't seem to get full easy. I called to get another fill next wednesday.

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

Hi Lotza! I just found this thread so I thought I would share. I lost 6 pounds pre-op and have lost a total of 31 pounds as of today. I have slowed up now and had my first fill on 8/13/08. I feel restriction....I find that I can't eat fast or like today I had a Smart Ones chicken Parmesean and the chicken was tooooo dry and made me PB and it hurt really bad. I really have to watch how fast I eat and take small bits. What is really weird is that I have to watch how I eat but not HOW MUCH I eat. As long as I eat slow, I can still eat alot. I guess I will have to wait until my next fill.
  10. Monday morning weigh-in...256, down 1 pound. :lost1lbs:I was hoping for more. I have been weighing myself everyday (bad) and it has been up and down all week. I need to start exercising. I have been more active but not true exercise. Took my daughter to college this weekend. I miss her! Adorkable: I agree with everyone about the pain of this surgery. I also had three c-sections and I thought I would breeze through this surgery....but it was more painful.
  11. I have heard to drink pineapple juice.

B: 1/2 cup cereal with 1/4 cup skim milk S: small plum; 1 thin slice deli ham L: soup at hand (tomato) D: 1 cup (or so) lowfat chicken salad
  13. Dee, I am sooo sorry to hear you are feeling that way. You are one of the nicest people I know. I am not sure what has happened to make you feel so down but if you would like to talk, please call me (you do still have my cell phone number, don't you). I don't know why you can't see for yourself what an amazing person you are....no matter what size...you are beautiful inside and out. Does this have anything to do with the new man in your life? If you do not want to talk about it, OK, but we are all hear for you, just like you are there for us when we are down. Prayers and hugs to you!!!

Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

I am having a bad day. This is what I ate today: B: Smart Ones breakfast sandwich L: Soup at hand (Tomato) L: 1 slice of turkey with a slice of lowfat cheese wrapped up S: Peach D: Lean Cuisine Ckn and Rice Now that wasn't bad but I was still hungry after dinner so I ate some leftover potatoes (1 cup). I went outside and did yard work until dark and came in and ate again:cursing: I ate another slice of turkey and cheese rolled up and then I ate at least 10 lowfat club crackers. Thank God that I get my first fill tomorrow. I feel myself falling into bad habits again. Please tell me that someone else has broke down and ate too much so I don't feel alone. Am I stretching my band:confused:

    Caffeine after LB surgery?

My doctor said it is ok but in moderation. I have heard that it might cause stomach irritation. I drink two cups per day with no problem.

    new bander two weeks post-op

I made tunafish salad and chicken salad but I pureed everything first. Scrambled eggs are allowed during the mushy phase. I made scrambled eggs with a spoonful of salsa and cheese melted on top. Yummy! I also bought Healthy Request Chunky soup and pureed it.
  17. Adorkable: put me down for 2lbs. down this week. I weighed in at 257:thumbup:. I haven't been walking because I have been busy but I did what you did this weekend and spent 3 or 4 hours doing lawnwork...cutting grass, weedeating, trimming shrubs, pulling weeds. That has to be more of a workout than just walking. Wednesday is my first fill....I can't wait:biggrin: I am going to tell him to be generous because I can't afford to go in twice a month.

I would like the recipe for the parmesean meatballs? I am not new to the site but I am new to this thread.
  19. That is hilarious. That sounds like an episode from "the office"

    Does anybody NOT throw up?

I did not throw up after surgery. I did, however, throw up on the plane en route to Denver to have my surgery. I was really worried about the flight home but I did ok. I had alot of medication for nausea that the surgeon gives you. He put a patch on the back of my ear that is good for 72 hours. He also gives you a perscription for anti-nausea medication. The only thing was the night before surgery I had chicken and salsa for dinner and the heartburn after the surgery was bad, but he also fixed my hiatal hernia.
  21. I have always wondered what tofu tastes like. Do you eat it plain? I can't wait until my fill. I did go all day without eating today because I was out and didn't have time to try to find something I can eat. I then overdid it when I came home and ate dinner. I had some pureed pot roast and mashed potatoes. I did not measure and I probably ate more than 2 cups total food. I didn't even feel full:confused: Did most of you get a fill at about 4 weeks out? That is when I will get mine. Do you think it is too early?
  22. Please remember, you might not feel restriction, but at only 9 days out, you are still healing. You need to be on full liquids for at least another week and then to mushies. Your stomach is not healing if it has to digest that food. I wanted to eat also but I keep telling myself that I paid alot of money for this and I HAVE to change my habits. You have to work with the band. The band can't do all the work for you. Go back to full liquids and give your stomach more time to heal. Good luck.

    First day after my op

You should have discussed the "rules" before your surgery. I received alot of information before the surgery and I had went shopping to have the drinks, popsicles, jello....etc. ready for when I came home from surgery. You should definitely call the office and have them give you some information.
  24. I am with you guys about being hungry. TOM is visiting me today and I feel hungry. I am 3 weeks post op and pretty much eating soft foods but some days I feel I can keep eating. Everything goes down good. It takes alot to keep myself on track. Question??? What are you guys eating at 3 or 4 weeks out (before first fill)? Are you giving in to the hunger?
