Coverup Procedure/Hiding the truth
hrmills84 replied to Jadane_dm's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Each person is different and handles it differently, but, my opinion is that I just don't understand the people that cover it up. Just be honest about what's going on and leave it at that. I'm an open book and honestly have not received any negative criticism for my life choices. Honestly, if I did I wouldn't care anyway. This is my life and my choice. Be who you are. It happened with me as well! No worries girl! The day will get here and it will fly! I remember having to wait an additional 2 months. I thought it would drive me nuts but it really flew by! Just relax and treat yourself before then Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I originally took 3 weeks but knew it wouldn't be enough so I had my dr write me a note for 6 weeks and filed for STD through work. So glad I did. Im still off for another week and feeling 90% better than I did in week 3! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

It really depends on your body and surgeon but for RNY it's typically 2 nights. I had some issues my surgeon was concerned with so I ended up staying 5 nights. It was brutal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

.....and why did you have an open versus laparoscopic? Just curious Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@carelabre It sounds like scar tissue? It's around the incision? When I had a c section with my daughter that happened around my incision. It was a very hard lump across but went down with time and healing. That's what it sounds like to me if you're not having any accompanying symptoms Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

4 months post op today and starting to feel almost normal again!
hrmills84 replied to Thecloude1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That's so awesome to hear Thecloude1! I can't wait to get there. Eating feels too much like a chore right now and zero energy. Definitely feeling the 'what the heck did I do to myself' lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I agree with lakegirlmn^ This gives me hope as well that I will feel normal once again Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
It definitely depends on your starting weight. My doctors office prefers to go by percentages for this reason. The heavier you are, the more weight you will lose. My sw at surgery was 260 and I'm now at 235. 25 lbs over 25 days. I've been losing a lb a day Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Who do you share the news with?
hrmills84 replied to TheDefiler54770's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm very open with my surgery. I'm not sure why some people choose to keep it private, but, every person is different. For me, this is part of who I am and is now forever who I am. I'm proud of my decisions. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hey guys, I just saw this May forum and thought I'd join in. My RNY was 5/23/16, so, I'm about 3.5 weeks out. Ran into a few complications after so I was in the hospital about a week versus 2 days. I'm on soft foods now and trying solids here or there. No dumping so far which has been awesome but I've had a few instances of food getting stuck. It's awful lol At surgery I weighed 260 and am now at 235. So, 25 lbs down which I'm happy with and no stall 'yet'. Mentally I'm exhausted. I have no desire to eat. The preparation and chewing up of my food is such a burden, especially when I don't feel hungry. It's become a chore more than anything. As far as energy it is up and down from day to day. I took 6 weeks off of work so I'm hoping to feel better by the time I go back. It's been such a long road! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi Subie, I am also 4 weeks out and feeling the exact same way. I'm to the point where I just don't want to eat. The preparation and the task of eating just a small bit is such a burden. Especially when the enjoyment we once had is gone. I've read it gets better. We just have to do the best we can getting in fluids, Vitamins and Protein. This too shall pass Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Had surgery on 5/26, still pain at site
hrmills84 replied to aschuyler's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had RNY on 5/23 and still have tenderness in my upper right belly. It gets better every day but definitely not something I'm super concerned with. We just had our insides scrambled. It's going to take some time to heal Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I'm the 23rd! Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi Bella, I'm also surprised you're not having more done but maybe it just comes down to a matter of preference for the surgeon or bariatric hospital? I too had a full work up: ekg, upper gi test, pulmonary function test, blood work, chest x ray etc. My surgery date is May 23! Let me know if you need anything or just want to chat Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Surgery Scheduled for March - no Pre-op Diet?
hrmills84 replied to twinkats's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having Bypass and my surgeon does not require a pre op diet. There are a couple Otc items he wants me to take leading up to surgery but nothing crazy like I've seen -
I'm sooooo relieved! They called me this morning to confirm they received an approval after the denial. I guess there was just missing paperwork! I was sooooo upset!

Hey guys, I'm new to the board but have been following threads for some time now. I started this process in October 2015 and completed the 3 months required diet, psych evaluation etc. to meet Cigna's requirements. I even pay extra through my insurance to include this coverage. I received my letter today that it is not 'medically necessary'. I've been crying all night and so upset. Did I just do all of this and spend all this money on co pays for nothing? Has anyone else encountered this with Cigna and if so, why was it deemed not necessary and what did you do?
