I know that this has probably been posted before but I always have a heck of a time searching/finding an answer. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p> Anyway, I’ll be traveling to Disney in September and I was wondering if anyone has encountered any issues at the airport? When I spoke to my doctor yesterday, he explained to me that there is titanium in the lap band and that when I go through the airport security it shouldn’t set anything off. Has anyone had this issue going through security if so what did you do? I also asked my doctor for a medical card stating that I had the procedure but for some reason they don’t give them out, kind of strange when you actually have a device in you. I mean what if something happened who would let them know that I have one????:confused2: Thanks, Jenn

YUMMM!!! I just had sausage and peppers for dinner last night and all I can say is YUMMMMY!! No problems, the crockpot makes it so moist. ENJOY!

I seldom get migraines but when I do, they pack a real mean punch. I get violently ill to the point were I can’t hold anything down. This is the first time I’ve had one since being banded and it really scares me to be so sick and to worry about if I might do any damage to the band. Does anyone else get migraines and if so what do you use for headaches and nausea? This is day three with a migraine but I have to say it’s not as bad as it was on Saturday.

Thanks for all the replies. Since I posted this, I again suffered another Migraine on Tuesday so I called the doctor and he prescribed some pain meds and nausea medication. I also scheduled an appt with him when I was feeling better and he now prescribed me Imitrex which should take the migraine away in 15 min (god I hope so).

Okay.. so I go and see my dr yesterday for my 4 wk post op and I asked about scheduling an appt for a fill and he told me that I didn’t need one. HUH? He told me that since I had lost 9 pounds in 3 wks that I already have restriction. I really don’t think that I do and I told him that..now I have to wait several more weeks to see how I feel. I’m already on stage 4 which is allowing me to eat ¾ cups at each meal, which I can put down easily. So now, I have to wait.. hopefully I won’t gain any of the weight that I lost. Has anyone else have this happen to them?

Thanks for the replies!!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Yes, the doctor did explain to me that I should lose 1-2 pounds a week...but I guess I'm just too anxious and I want to weight to be gone!!<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> I have also been able to eat anything (good healthy foods) I want without any issues.<o:p></o:p>

Name: Jenn Date you were banded: April 30th Weight loss to date: 22 pounds maybe more..have'nt weighed myself How are you feeling? I feel good most days however I still get pains in my shoulder and in my tummy.
-
I was banded on April 30th and my doctor required that I stayed overnight which was a good thing since I was having such a bad reaction to the anesthesia. Every 4hrs the nurses would stop by to give me the nausea medication and not to mention the pain meds.

Hi Gwenn!!! I thought that I was the only one that had taken several weeks off from work and at first I was feeling guilty but now I have no regrets. I really needed this time to recover... I feel good but I still continue to feel some pain...not sure if its gas or something else. I havent taken any pain meds since I was 5 days post op. I am tired of liquids and so ready to move to stage 3... need some real food intake here:crying: Hope everyone is doing well. Jenn

I had my f/u visit yesterday and the doc says everything is moving along smoothly and I can now move to stage 2. Still liquids but I can have cream of wheat Cereal, pudding, etc... Since I started my liquid diet (2wks prior to surgery) and including the week of the surgery I have lost a total of 22 lbs... woohooo I feel good a little crampy sometimes, but I'm moving around. Only thing now is that I have discovered a nasty rash which the doc did look at thinking that I might be having a allergic reation to the meds or something else but again he said that wasnt the case and sent me on to my PCP to look at...now I'm on more meds for this rash.. Take care.. Jenn

Glad to hear that everyone's surgery went well:thumbup:. Everything went well for me during the surgery it was the anesthesia that really kicked my butt:cursing:. I have never felt so sick and I was in the hospital longer than I thought I would be, I didnt get released until 5-5:30pm on Thursday which was a good thing since I was feeling so sick. At home now and moving at a slow pace and taking my time. Talk to everyone soon..Take Care, Jenn

I’ve been fine the entire time but now I’m getting butterflies in my tummy knowing that this time tomorrow I will be in the hospital being prepped for surgery. Woohoo!!! I wish you all the best and hope to speak to you all soon. BTW.. How long is everyone taking off from work? I was originally going to take two weeks but I extended it to three, since I never had surgery and I don’t know what to expect. Take care, Jenn

Woohoo... Its almost here!!! I live in NJ but I'm being banded in PA.

:rolleyes2: I have a twin!!! What time is your surgery? I have to be at the hospital at 5:45am and my surgery is scheduled for 7:30am. I'm excited and nervous but I cant wait to start my new life:thumbup:.
-
My surgery is also scheduled for April 30th. I've been on the pre-op diet for almost two weeks and although it's been tough at times I have been able to stick with it, I think my only saving grace was that I was allowed to have one sensible meal. Good Luck!:rolleyes2:
-
My date is also April 30th at 7:30 am. It seems like its taking forever to get here. I have a countdown calendar at my desk and everyday I'm checking off another day.
-
I finally got the call from my surgeon's office yesterday afternoon and I am APPROVED!!!! April 31st.. Here I come..

Does everyone that goes to a nurrionist get weighed in? When I had my first initial visist with the nutrionist, I was'nt weighed now I'm wondering if this is something that I should be concerned about as I havent been able to maintain my weight and I meet with them tomorrow afternoon.
-
I was wondering how long it has taken folks to receive a date for surgery. I started my journey on 1/18 with my consultation. I made all my Pre-op appointments (nutrionist, gastro, card, pulm and diagnostic testing) with the exception of the physiatrist, which I will be scheduling at the end of February and if all goes well I hope I can be scheduled for surgery in April. Does that seem realistic?

I need my PCP to complete a letter of medical necessity (taking forever) and I believe that if I have it all typed out for him it would make the process so much easier. I was wondering if anyone had a sample letter that they are willing to share?
