New Study: Vitamin D Levels Linked to Weight-loss Surgery Outcomes
CanadaLoser replied to butterfly23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is really interesting....I have been low on Vit D for over a year. My Dr hasn't been too worried but I will definitely be upping my intake for the next while as I prepare for surgery! -
If you are self paying I'd recommend at least looking into Mexico

What Are Some Things You Can't Wait for POST OP?
CanadaLoser replied to Denise73's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
To not be embarrassed all the freaking time. To not spend half my time in public worrying about getting up from the chair/couch/floor without making a scene. To shop in "regular stores" To take the stairs and not feel like I'm going to pass out after a single flight. To fly without a seatbelt extender. To save a ton on groceries and eating out (and put that towards new clothes ????) To be happier! -
Pre-op Liquid Diet Question
CanadaLoser replied to lastmemory318's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your nut or dr should have given you a list of what you could have. I'd ask them as everyone is different -
I haven't told a soul other than my husband! It's not that I want it to be a secret forever but at this point I don't feel anyone needs to know about my health. Down the road I am sure questions will start coming and at that point I will assess the situation and person and determine how I want to move forward at that point.

Protien shake recommendation
CanadaLoser replied to sheavens's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love the Premier Protein pre-made shakes from costco. They are great straight up or mixed with some ice and fruit. I'm also waiting on my shipment of unjury which I have seen talked about on here many times...I ordered the chicken flavour (to have as a broth), the unflavored (to mix when I make Jello and such) and the chocolate. It has really great reviews but takes a few weeks to get here. -
I am trying to make a list of things I will need the first few weeks post op. What did you find you needed most?

Anyone scheduled for March?
CanadaLoser replied to AmyQwith2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Id love to join the FB page. I'll message my email -
I was really worried about having the conversation with my PCP but he was great about my plans to go to Mexico. He gave me a standing order for the lab so that I can go in every month for blood work and he will call me if there are any issues. I will need to go regularly for blood work as I already have low Iron and B12 levels....so I'm incredibly happy that he was completely on board and supportive. That's another thing off the list! Dr selected. Date picked. Flights booked. PCP on board. Now it's time to mentally prepare myself and prepare the house with everything I need for pre-op and post-op. Hurry up March 18th!

CanadaLoser replied to CanadaLoser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You guys are fantastic! Thank you!! We are taking a trip soon and as soon as we get home I start my 3 week pre-op diet and then off to Mexico for my surgery so I want to ensure I have everything listed and am prepared for pre-op and post-op -

I feel like I've done too much research now...
CanadaLoser posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I feel like I have done too much research already - read too many reviews, visited too many websites, sent too many emails. And now I'm confused! What I know for sure: - I will be going to Mexico for the surgery - I'm looking to have the surgery in mid March - My spouse will be coming with me - I would prefer recovery at a hotel and not a "recovery house" - Cost is not the huge factor as they are all similarly priced Now I'm wondering if anyone used the following Dr's and can provide any raving reviews or "don't do it's!" - Dr Ramos Kelly - Dr alejandro lopez - Dr Ponce de leon Thanks in advance! -

What I'm doing to prepare is obsessing over it. Lol. But seriously, I'm trying to do some shopping for pre and post op needs now as I'm soon off to Hawaii for 2 weeks and then start my pre op dirt as soon as I get home. I'm nervous but excited! -

Travel a few months following surgery
CanadaLoser posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello everyone, I am seriously considering moving forward with a surgery this spring. I am wondering if anyone has traveled a few months after their surgery and how it went? I'd consider scheduling a surgery for late March/early April but am concerned about a 10 day trip my husband and I have planned to London (from Canada) in mid June. Would this be a concern? I should be back to eating "regular" foods by this point (although seriously less of them).
