Information overload! So many questions
CanadaLoser posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello, I am brand new to this forum and have so many questions. I feel like there is so much information, I don't even know where to start. I am approximately 380 pounds and have anemia which leaves me constantly exhausted. I have wanted WLS forever but the wait in SK is over 10 years (sick, isn't it?!). I think Mexico is my only option. I have been doing some research for the last few weeks (various forums, YouTube videos, etc) and I feel like it's information overload right now. Every time I think I have found a great surgeon that I'd like to get in touch with I stumble upon some negative information about them. How did you select a surgeon? Who did your surgery? How did you find your aftercare in Canada? Did you have any complications? Were you charged any extra fees after your surgery? How did you find your travel home? Any information you can share would be a HUGE help! Thanks everyone.- 7 replies

CanadaLoser replied to cindyw41's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so with you!!! I am currently on a shopping trip and don't even want to shop. I don't know where to go, what style to buy, and don't feel good spending money on things that I hope won't ft soon anyway. I'm down 90 pounds with about another 100ish to go so I need new clothing but also still have a ton to lose. I actually hate shopping now. And I sued to love it. -

Severe back pain after weight loss?
CanadaLoser replied to stephenmarksarro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally makes sense. I'm also experiencing it after losing 90 pounds. My body shape has changed so much and I'm carrying weight very differently. -

anemia with iron deficiency
CanadaLoser replied to finally on my way's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have suffered with anemia for years. Do you have heavy periods? That can be a major cause. Try to find an Iron supplement that works for you - it took me a long time to find one that didn't give me side effects that made me not want to take it. Also, take B12 as mentioned above Yes, you might be getting lots of iron rich foods, but probably just can't eat enough of them with your tiny tummy now. And is women have it worse as we lose each month. Good luck! -
How often do you weigh yourself?
CanadaLoser replied to spunkyheather's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here! I don't let myself sweat over small gains but daily keeps me accountable and let's me know about a stall quicker so I can bust it. -
What's your experience been with alcohol after surgery?
CanadaLoser replied to LisaAdams50's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had a few drinks a few separate times. I was a cheap drunk....2-3 over the course of about 6 hours. -
Vegas, regrets and a NSV
CanadaLoser replied to MarieLouise's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are likely stalled because you ar not eating enough food. Your body is in starvation mode and holding on to every calorie it gets to help you survive. Same thing happened to me. I had to push myself to get 1000 calories a day on a regular basis in order to start losing regularly again. -
Who else got sleeved on the 28th of march?
CanadaLoser replied to elaina831's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm down just about 90 pounds (about another 100 to go) and feeling great. Weight loss is substantially slow now. Maybe 2 pounds a week instead of what used to be 5-7....but at least it's going in the right direction. Also still constipated at times but less frequently then a few months ago thankfully!! -
Almost identical situation here. Started falling out a few weeks post op and at 5 months is still coming out like crazy but o can see some new growth coming in now. I take Biotin religiously! It's super thin. Used to wrap my elastic band around twice, now I need to do 5 times.

Hand on your heart - how bad were the first few days after getting sleeved?
CanadaLoser replied to skinnyjeansatlast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I seriously questioned my Dr as to if he had done anything. I caught a cab and went shopping ;8 hours post op! Lol -
Hey vets question about stalling
CanadaLoser replied to LxA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stay the course. A stall about 3 weeks post op is totally normal! [emoji3] -
That's so smart! Thanks!

My wedding ring is too big and I won't be able to wear it for much longer. It's a good thing cause I'm getting smaller but also a bad thing as I don't want to have it sized multiple times so I will have to go without it for a quite a while until I get to goal

CanadaLoser replied to elaina831's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been struggling the last two weeks. Lose a bit, gain a bit. But basically stalked for 2 weeks. It's so frustrating. I know it's part of the process and I'm trying not to let it get to me but it's starting to. The only thing my tummy doesn't like right now is almonds. Shrimp is iffy so I've been avoiding it for a few weeks. I'm down just over 60 pounds since Mar 30 and lots of clothes are too big so I've bought a few smaller sizes. My wedding ring is almost too big to wear now too...so not sure what I'm going to do about that! I'm also grumpy at times - the hormones are no joke! From fine to almost crying over nothing. So annoying! -
Cost of gastric sleeve without insurane
CanadaLoser replied to Yazan Masa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That seems crazy high for TJ, why so much? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I was about to say the same thing! Who in the world is the surgeon in TJ charging $17k?!?!?! It is because i am high risk because my BMI is almost 60 so it costs me more as they have to have extra medical staff during the operation for me. The cost also includes flights, my companion's expenses and ongoing support. The $17k i didnt mention is in Canadian dollars too. With the current exchange it works out to about $13k US That is still insane high. Which Dr? I had a high BMI and was about $6000 US for everything you listed above. Including the flights from Canada, follow up care, etc. -
She's jealous. Plain and simple. She is taking out her jealousy by putting doubts in your head. Ignore her and give her even more to be jealous about

I have been feeling similar to you but it seem like mine was because of too much acid. I take my meds but have also added Malox and Tums regularly and it seems to help a lot.

32 pounds is 6 weeks is a huge accomplishment! I hope you are celebrating those milestones!! For me I have found that Water and Protein is key. More so then exercise. One day at a time. Just follow the program and it will happen!

How many nights in hospital?
CanadaLoser replied to Clarevoyant's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on the Dr and how surgery went. My Drs norm is 2 nights. I know someone who didn't spend any nights. Surgery at 8 am, home by supper.
