Anyone getting VGS Feb 29th?
JenLyn81 replied to Paula'sVSGLife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like some of the women, I struggled with "to have surgery or to not have surgery." I have been contemplating surgery for over 10 years, probably close to. Do I think this will be a magical cure to my obesity? No. Do I think that my food cravings will go away? Possibly. Is this going to be an easy fix? Heck no it's not! I know that I didn't gain all this weight over night and it sure isn't going to come off over night. I truly believe that through God, prayer, and an amazing support system, I will be able to do great at this. Do I think I will be a size 2? No. Heck, I'd be happy at a size 14/16. If you go into this thinking you will be able to eat everything as before, just smaller portions, you are potentially setting yourself up for failure. I know that I won't be able to eat 1/2 of the food I currently fix. Not all the food I fix is unhealthy, my problem is portion control. I agree it is all how you set your mind to it. Yes, I may have a set back here or there, but you know what? I'm human. The next day is a new day and I will try again. We will all do great. We can't allow ourselves to think anything less. -

Well, I got a call yesterday that my surgery date needs to change. They moved it to the next day, March 1. That really just makes it seem like it's further away, especially since we aren't even in Feb yet! Did anyone watch the All of me video? It wasn't entirely what I was expecting. But it did show the down side of not trying and the good side of if you do what you are suppose to do and work at it, how this is just a tool to put you on the right path. -

I get it from http://unjury.com Right now I am trying samples I purchased through Syntrex and keeping a log of what I like and don't like. As well as how I tried it and what I liked about it. -
Good luck!!!! Dr. Eagon is my surgeon too and my surgery is 1 day before yours...have you had your refresher nurse visit yet? Mine is Weds and I was wondering what to expect. Will you be in west county or the city?My appt with the nurse is Wednesday, too. I'll be having my surgery at Barnes West. Where are you having yours? My appointment is at 9:30 with Ashley and I am also having my surgery at Barnes West. What made you choose the sleeve over the bypass? I was told to arrive by 7 and that I would be the 2nd case at 9am.Same here. I believe my appt on 1/27 is at 9. I'm told to be there at 7am for check in and they will take me to the OR at 9. Too excited! I chose the sleeve over the bypass because I didn't want the extensive malabsorption issues. I was also afraid of the dumping that is more common with gastric bypass. The sleeve seems to be the happy medium. What about you?

Agreed! It is a very strange name, but their products are good. I just got my (paid) sample pack from Syntrex (sp?) I tried the lemon tea, it's ok...but has that Protein after taste. -

It isn't the most appealing of packaging. My Dr. office gave me a sample of the chicken soup and I loved it. I went to their website and bought ($22, maybe) a sample kit which included 2 of all their flavors PLUS a food thermometer PLUS a small shaker container. I have the chocolate splendor for Breakfast every day with soy milk and sometimes drink it hot or mix it in my coffee. The chicken soup mix, I've mixed in with my canned soup I have for lunch for the Protein. -

Have either of you tried any Protein powders yet? I found http://unjury.com, I really like their chocolate splendor and chicken Soup. Neither of them have a bad after taste either. -

Same here! I have been considering weight loss surgery for over 10 years, It just never felt like the right time or that I had the support I needed. Now that my daughter is 10, and I have an extremely supportive boyfriend, it feels very right. I think I'm most excited about being able to fly comfortably in an airplane next year. Lol -

I am so glad I found this page! I am waiting for my surgery to be scheduled. I received my approval letter from insurance on Jan 11th. I too am a single mom of a 10 yr old. I'm trying to figure out meals for her after my surgery, as well as trying to figure out what I will and won't be able to do once I'm home. Being able to read what has and hasn't worked for some people is very enlightening. I look forward to sharing more and reading about all the ups and downs everyone experiences while being able to help and encourage others. Jen
