Hey! What was your surgery date and how much weight have you loss since that day? Me: Surgery date: 1-22 Down: 19 lbs
-
Hi! I had my sleeve done on 1-22-16. I am 5 days post op and this has been one heck of a rollercoaster ride! I weighed 208 going in surgery and today (5 days later) I'm down to 197. Yay! ???? I'm very happy the weight is dropping but overall this entire experience has been pretty bad. Especially my time in the hospital. The pain I experienced (like shoulder pain) was unlike any pain I read about before the procedure. ???? I was in a state of regret for 2 days crying and trying to figure out what I did to my body and wondering if I would ever be okay. I made the decision to come home the next day. We were having a winter storm and my house was 4 hours away from the hospital. But I knew I could no longer stay in that hospital. Since I've been home I have been feeling like a new person. I'm getting my fluids in, I'm walking, and no longer feeling regret. I'm excited about this new journey in my life and really anxious to see if my new sleeve helps with some health problems I've been dealing with in the past few years! ????

I was sleeved on 1/22/16 so I'm 5 weeks out. Pre Op Weight: 223 My surgery weight: 208.4 Current weight: 185

I had surgery the same day. I'm down 26. I saw my doctor today and they said I am on track. I thought it'd be more as well. I've been in a stall for almost two weeks, for the weight on the scale. When I take my measurements I have still been losing. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App I wish I started out doing my measurements. I reached my stall at 3 weeks but I can tell I'm losing inches. Surgery: 1-22-16 Down: 21 pounds

January 22nd sleevers?
storibrown replied to storibrown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear everyone is doing well! I am still on full liquids and I'm ready for a piece of meat. Lol my NUT only emailed me a list of 3 things to eat. Oatmeal, grits, and mashed potatoes. She has told me this for 2 and 3 weeks post op diet. I really feel like I'm out here on my own trying to figure out what to eat, how much to eat and how many times a day I should be eating. ???? -
I have reached my one week post op mark and it's crazy how much my life has changed. My weight on the day of surgery (1-22) was 208 I am now 207. A total of 11 lbs down in one week. ???? My body: *I am still very exhausted from surgery. I do walk a lot but I have to coach myself a great deal before I get up and move. *Pain is still a issue however I stopped taking my pain pills three days ago. I don't like how strong the pills are so I either just take some OTC Tylenol or just deal with it. The shoulder pain is the worse and I'm still having pain when Fluid reaches my stomach. *Cold feet is now a new issue. Never had cold feet before but every single day and night since surgery my feet are freezing. Yesterday I started using a heating pad on my feet to keep them warm. *My arms seem to go numb after laying on them for a few minutes. I am constantly adjusting myself when laying down. *Lastly, the feeling that I'm hungry is becoming stronger every day. Today was really bad. I was almost at the point of crying because I felt so hungry but a few ounces of my Protein shake and I was better. Every day that I am successful with this life long diet is such a inspiration. It proves that my desire to be healthy is greater than my need for food. If I can do it you can do it too!! Good luck everyone!! ????

ChavezMommy the cravings are bad. I've found that I can crave something so bad but once confronted face to face with that food I don't want it anymore. I took my mom and daughter out for hibachi. I wanted the rice & steak dinner soooo bad but once everyones food came and I just ordered onion Soup. Once I started sipping I no longer wanted what they were eating. I was satisfied and proud of myself for sticking with my diet. My mom is not a big supporter of anything I do so its a very good feeling to go out and not get swayed to eating the bad stuff.

Oh my I'm glad you commented! I now know someone I can come to for advice (if that's okay). Thanks for letting us know this will be better soon. My nightmare days were day 1 & 2 in the hospital. Once I came home every day has been better than the one before. ????

Anyone having surgery in Durham, NC?
storibrown replied to KnKmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last Friday the 22nd. And thank you -
Wow sorry to hear that you had some difficulties. Fortunately my doctor doesn't do drains. But it seems like the people who do get them progress faster through their diet plans. I was sleeved on the 22nd and will be on clear liquids until at least Feb. 9th. ????

Anyone having surgery in Durham, NC?

I had my procedure done at Duke. My doctor was great the staff on the other hand were terrible. I would rate this hospitals care as the worst hospital I've ever been treated at... Well I would narrow it down to this particular department. It was so bad I asked if I could be moved to another floor with better care or if I could just go home. They sent me home! I was throwing up blood, not getting any fluids in and in a terrible amount of pain. It was in the middle of a winter storm and I lived 4 hours away and they let me go home. I don't wish to ever go back there again for another procedure -
Congrats! Keep us updated on your new journey!!

I'm sending you all my support! It seems bad right now but your days will get better. Now that you are home I bet you will be feeling completely different in a day or two. Stay encouraged and remember your goals! ????

I'm scheduled to be at the hospital 6:00 this morning. I'm really nervous scared and having second thoughts. I pray this procedure will be the extra help I need to finally get back healthy again! Wish me luck! ????

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! My procedure went well but my time in the hospital was terrible. My pain was through the roof and the hospital staff made everything worse. The treatment was so bad there I asked to come home the next night during a winter storm and I had a 4 hour drive to my house. Once I got home I started feeling much better. I'm getting my fluids in better and even walking more. I'm down 10lbs since my surgery date (1-22) and I'm excited to see where this new journey of my life will take me! Good luck everyone!!! We will make it and we will be successful! ????

Why risk it? Food getting caught in your staple line is a serious problem. It can cause leaks, ulcers, and abscesses. So not worth it, in my opinion! If you watch some youtube videos of the sleeve surgery being performed and see how brutalized your stomach really is, you will understand how important it is to be gentle to it and let it fully heal. Thanks for all the advice JamieLogic! You are wonderful!!!

Your stomach doesn't want to test the waters it's your brain! Lol when you get those thoughts try getting a pen and pad and write down all the reason you did this procedure and then list some goals. I found it helpful to start writing daily, weekly, monthly, 3 month goals. Give yourself something to work towards everyday. Sometimes we have to be our own cheerleaders. And have rewards for yourself!! Gosh who doesn't like a reward even if it comes from ourselves! ????
