    Check in Febsters!

I'm glad to hear most are doing great! I had my first fill on Tuesday and it was 1.6 and i was thinking 1.6, everyone else gets a bunch? i have a 10cc band also. I paid $150 for 1st fill and consultation then it would be $125. they said if i wanted more with in 10 days it would only be $50 and they would be there there on Saturday (today). i did the liquids and then mushies and then regular/mushie. that day i took one bite at lunch and had an "episode". had to go to the bathroom and just be in so much pain! it hurt so bad, i couldn't burp, or throw-up, just waves of pain. lasted 10 minutes. went back to the cafeteria and thought i just took too big of bite. rest went down fine. next meal it happened again and it felt like someone was stabbing me in the chest...that hurts. l0l that one lasted 15 to 20 minutes and then the food went down ok. so i'm thinking it must be not the fill because the rest goes down, my i took too big or bite, didn't chew enough or something like that. Decided to go today for more. thinking i'll be on liquids again i'll have a good meal for Breakfast, egg beaters scramble and sprinkled some cheese on top...under 200 calories. i took one bite and bam it does it again. this time it lasted for 1 hour 15 minutes. the pain on the scale of 1-10 would go from 5 to 10 and wave up and down, 10 lasting about 20 seconds at least and then 5 pain for about 30 seconds. :smile2: couldn't burb but once in a while heard a little gurgling. it was awful and i was yelling in pain...i live alone so no one has to listen to me. i didn't know if it was just clogged or what to do, i even tried a heating pad. finally i leaned way back in my chair with my face toward the ceiling, i finally subsided, don't know if it was time to stop or if that helped. so i called and asked if i can come in for more, lol, because i was just sure i was miss eating because then i could eat more...i didn't though, but yesterday i could. she said, we could try. so she was going to put just .6 in there and "what?" i'm thinking, but go along. they have me drink Water and the pain starts in again so she takes out .4 and i drink again and it still does it! so she took it all out all .6 out. it was closing up. dang! i'm just sensitive they said, my stomach just swells easily and i could try again in 2 week or more and i still had to pay the $50 of course because they did it and next time they would also let me for $50. They are really a nice fill center. so now it's swelled again and i'm on liquids for two days and she said mushys for 3 days since i'm so sensitive. i'm hungry right now. well this should be some more weight loss i'm thinking. lol now i know why they start small, some of us can't take it. she had a son get the lapband and lost almost 200 lbs and never once needed a fill....now that is amazing and lucky. i've averaged 3.5 lbs per week loss. and NOW i know when i need an unfill or to drink warm water before i eat for a while (i don't drink tea or coffee). some people have to all the time, hope that isn't going to be me. sorry i went on but i thought i should share this awful experience with you all. i'm ok now just hungry.

First month of life with the band

Hi, I felt some restriction right away and wasn't hungry for a few weeks. i'm sure it was from the trauma of a the surgery. The stoma swells from it as it might after a fill and that will feel like you can't eat much. that's my experience anyway. i have lost averaging out to be 3.5 a week, not much but as fast as i want to lose it because of the sag factor.

    First Fill!

welcome aboard Lisa! just jump in anywhere or make a new thread with a question. you were banded just a few days after me. i was banded on 2/21/08. drink a lot of water. i know that sounds dumb and i hate it when people say it to me, but it works when i do it. as long as it isn't within an hour or two after you ate. if you need to snack make it something low cal I guess...that is what i do. welcome again, glad to meet you.

    Houston we have restriction!

you're almost half way to your goal, you lucky girl! that is how i feel too, i want to stay on top of my fills so i can't over eat even if i wanted too. i could be trusted before so the fill is all that is going to keep me on track now.

And, just like that it's gone!

glad she is home and maybe with time her parents will accept her the way she is. they don't really have choice, i like her honesty. I'm sure it is shock for them and time to think about will help out...hopefully. you choose good foods to cheat with so i'm sure that is ok, especially working out in the middle of it. lol you are doing great!

    Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!

i bought new shoes today because the other ones my feet were sliding around in. why did i have to lose it there first? lol:lol: lost 19 pounds as of today!

    My first fill Thursday!

I got my first fill a few hours ago. mine was empty and they put 1.6cc's. they want to go slow and cause no problems, i appreciate that. if there is no restriction and no problems i can go back with in 10 days for another fill for only $50 instead of $125. i'll go back saturady. have to be on liquids today and mushy tomorrow and then regular food. did hurt at all! This is a fill center not a regular doctor because my doctor is in Mexico. i can get them free there if i want to buy an airfplane ticket. lol

    Support groups?

i go to one at a hospital one town away (10 miles), last tuesday of each month. very interesting. the last one they had a dr. in psycology there and talked an hour on the different emotional eating. i was inspired. also so there are some local people that are starting one this thursday. 4 of them will be banded in May and then there are just a few of us that are already banded. i've heard most support groups here fizzle out, hope this one lasts, not far at all. and this group. i'm alway reading and I post when i can.

    Funny Fat Stories

These stories are pretty good, good thing we can write these down and go back and look at them in a year...just think how small we will be then!

    List your lapband confessions here.

I keep in my freezer a box of sugar free fudgcicles, skinny ones, 40 calories so when i feel like binging i have 2 or 3 of those and i'm still under my 1200 for the day. they are really really good. i also have sugar free popcicles by dreyers, 30 calories ea. when i have three i feel like i'm pigging out but i'm ok. the sugar free stuff that uses splenda is so good so my sweet tooth is safely satisfied. if i can't beat it, i don't think i can go with out something sweet so now i do it with control... for how long though...hoping for ever, this band wasn't cheap and i'm a self paid bander, i just can't see throwing that money in the garbage can. lol if we go off what we are suppose to be doing then let's just confess and get back on the mission we started on. Jeanie

I just really wanted to share

Tara that is absolutely wonderful news, i'm very happy for you! i know the bit of not knowing when to stop, that is so hard, i'm hoping with a fill it will be easy to know before it's too late when i'm full. I keep a food journal on my kitchen table and have only missed 2 days of not fillling it out. i have not done that this long either, i'm afraid if i quit writing down what i eat then i'll start justifying too much. Keep up the good work! Jeanie

I accidently ate a tad little piece of potato skin and it hurt so bad for ten minutes. I am afraid to eat anything i've been told not to from fear of the bands punishment. Nothing may happen but then again with my luck i'd end up in the hospital! lol i have a friend that tried to eat a donut and on the second bite they had to call 911 and she had to go to the hospital and have it removed. i'm going to learn from her lesson. I'm a chicken. my 1st fill is next week. you were very lucky! Jeanie

    Port FLIPPED :(

i'm sorry to hear this setback, glad you have a possitive attitude on it. seems weird they can flip over if they are stitched in place? never heard of that one. i can't believe he put a needle in without numbing the place in the first place! ow! my port area is still a little tender and i get my first fill this tuesday. i'm making sure they use something. Good luck and keep us posted on what happens now. keep that working out. Jeanie Dr. Kuri Mexico 2-21-08

    Video Blog... I'm an Advertisement!

Becca that was great. i was very impressed, you looked very natural and happy to be able to do this. i even showed a friend and she was impressed also. as far as tilting your head to the right....in body language, people who tilt their head to the right have an open mind and have more positive attitudes. people who tilt to the left have closed minds, reject ideas and are just set in their own way. so keep tilting to the right. you go girl! jeanei

    Funny Fat Stories

LMBO, funny stories! glad we can laugh at them now. my big problem i always felt was my butt got so big and sticking out and i never got used to it. seems like i'd go in stores and turn around and things would fall off the shelves behind me, surprised and i turn around to see who knocked the stuff off and i'm the only one around! lol i stayed out of skinny places after that. but i have knocked a lot off with my weapon, the butt! lol my fear was of breaking chairs. jeanie
  23. how funny! at least yours paid for your, whether it was an accident or not. hehehehe, mine sent me to Mexico and said good luck! jeanie

    Too Much Information

Jeannie, i too get a pain and heard it is because i etiher ate too much or too fast. my happens on the top of my left shoulder by my neck and a little down my back. it happens about 20 minutes after i eat. wish it would happen right when i'm suppose to stop so i would have that for Pre sign not a punishment sign. lol also if it is in the middle of your back let you doctor know if it continues. it isn't uncommon for banders to have gall bladder problems. i know 3 banders that have the gall bladders removed. i used to years ago get pain in the middle of my back and it was gall bladder attacks. haven't had any in about 3 years. it is hard for me to slow down, i'm eating i'm sure 1/2 as fast but maybe that is still too fast. till i get a fill i might be eating too much also  but i'm not too down about that until i've had 3 fills! lol jeanie
