Here's my story. I would like some input and support as I am just about to give up on ever losing any more weight... I was banned in mid April with the Realize band. I have gone in 3 times for fills since - 4cc for the first fill, 2cc for the second fill and 2cc for this last fill. If my calculations are correct, that's 8cc in a 9cc band - RIGHT??? So, if I am already up to 8cc and not really feeling a whole lot of restriction and my weightloss is almost non existant, what's next for me? Am I at the end of the road and this is as good as it gets? I've only lost a total of 32 pounds since pre-op and I have another 50 to go. I asked the nurse while she was doing the fill to please check and make sure everything looks right on the screen and she says it does. I even saw the barium crap go thru the band and it looked OK to me. Realize bands only hold 9cc and I'm at 8 with barely any restriction. What's next? Have any of y'all gone to the max fill and finally felt restriction?

THANK YOU sooooooo very much for telling me that! I guess I need to be patient and see how this next fill goes. I'm just nervous that I only have 4cc left to fill before I'm at max. I'm afraid that I won't ever have the restriction I am looking for. Maybe 3rd time will be a charm for me. I do know that when I got my second fill of 2cc, the doctor watched in on x-ray and commented to the lab tech that he felt I could get more of a fill. She stopped him and told him NO. Said that 2ccs at a second fill is the norm (4cc for the first, 2cc for the second). I wanted to punch her right then and there. If the doc felt I could take a bit more, he should have been able to give that to me. Now I have to wait several more weeks to get that. But, you have given me hope that I will eventually get to a restriction fill!

I am at 6cc in a 10cc band. NO RESTRICTION... I go for a 3rd fill on June 23. It's taking tons of will power to not over eat. I'm also starting to wonder if there may be something wrong with my band. How can I be at 6cc and still not feel restriction or even getting a "stuck" feeling. I am down 29 pounds since my surgery (in April), so I guess that's a good thing. But I am having to really really work hard at that loss.

Be sure you are doing your breathing like you should be. They should have given you some kind of breathing thing that you are suppose to use every hour. Make sure you are doing it. After my surgery, I couldn't breathe hardly at all and a few days after, I ended up calling the Nurse because I started to get a low grade fever. I wasn't expanding my lower lungs like I should have been and Fluid was starting to collect. Once I really started with my breathing treatments, it got better day by day. Sure, it's going to hurt, but you NEED to do it!

Yesterday was my surgery. It was nerve racking, but I made it! I'm in pain today, but it's manageable for now. I'm finding it hard to take deep breaths and hard to find a comfortable position to be in, but overall, I'm doing good. Thanks to those who eased my full panic mode!

Tomorrow is band day! I'm excited, but scared crapless at the same time. For those who have gone thru the surgery, did y'all go thru all the "what if"s? What if something happens on the operating table, what if I don't like the band, what if I don't (god forbid) make it thru surgery.... I keep going from exciement to wanting to call it all off. I know I will be OK, right? I have had my gall bladder removed, so I have gone under anesthesia and they messed with my insides while doing that. I have 3 small kiddos and I had TONS of "what if"s about them... Scarey thoughts of things that could go wrong, kwim.... Please tell me I'm not the only one going thru this panic mode. Tell me this is all normal feelings!

Well, today is the day. I am suppose to be at the hospital in 30 minutes, but I can't drag my hubby out of bed. I hugged and kissed my kids all night last night. My youngest (he's 6) cried in my arms asking me to please not go have surgery. His little mind had him beleiving that they are going to leave the sleep medicine on and I will never wake up. :rolleyes2: As if I didn't have enough worry, right) I'll let y'all know how it goes! Thanks so much for your support.

1st fill today, confused on what happened
bling replied to eejaydiva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Could the hard area under the scar be scar tissue? I have had 3 c-sections and along the scar line, it's hard all the way across. -
My hubby had his band done this past Friday. The last time he had a BM was Thursday after drinking that yucky Magnizium Citrate.. Since the surgery, he hasn't had one single movement. Is this normal? When should he expect to have a BM?

Surgery on the 24th of April in Texas....anyone else
bling replied to Baggio's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have my surgery on the 25th here in Dallas, but my doc is Dr Davidson... I'm getting excited and nervous both. My hubby had his done on March 14, so I'm wanting to catch up to him, lol! (his first fill is on the day of my surgery) -
Should I try to gain a few?
bling replied to kaytiebugs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would check it out with the ins co first. Some companies require you to show a history of a BMI of 40+ -
GOOD LUCK!! Im sure you are there now and are excited beyond belief!

I'm a day after you on the 25th!

Sad - 3rd Fill - No Restriction - 0 LBS in 8 Wks!
bling replied to lindseyann2u's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Do you take your measurements? When I went for my pre-op class, the nurse told us about not losing weight for a while.... However, if you are still losing inches, you are still doing great. You can NOT lose weight but you CAN still lose inches. So, I say, if you aren't measuring , start! Then keep track of both the weight loss and the inches loss. When both of those stop, that's when you are at a true plateau and should consider changing up your diet. Hang in there! -
My date can't come soon enough!!!!! My hubby got banded on March 14 and loving it! He took about a week to recover from the pains of it, but is doing good now..

April 25th here! There is a section down lower on here for those banded in the different months. The April board is starting to pick up in posts!

Pre-surgery diets... what does YOUR doc require?
bling replied to cori in wa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc is requiring 2 protien shakes a day with one lean cuisine a day... He wants me to start this on April 1, however, my surgery date ins't until April 25.... He did tell me that the Slim Fast low carb is a good shake to drink. I don't really care for the taste of those premades, so I bought the powder kind and drink those instead.... -
Preparing for the pre-surgical liquid diet
bling replied to ColoradoChick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc (or rather his nurse) wants me to start a liquid modified diet on April 1. My surgery isn't until April 25... ACK! But, I have tried to do the modified now and am finding that as the days go by, it gets easier to stick with and I'm not as hungry as I thought I would be. What makes me nervous is I have lost quite a bit of weight since I started keeping track and now fall below the 35 BMI that is required. Surely the doc will still do this as I know if I don't get it, I'll just go right back up in weight adding many more to what I was before! -
My husband and I are going to have the lap band done. We just went to our first consult with Lap Band Solutions, but I'm not so sure my insurance will pay. We are going that route first. If insurance doesn't cover it, we will just go to self pay.... Question... What prices did y'all pay (for self payers) and where did y'all go. LBS wants $15K for it, but I know there has to be a cheaper doctor out there that's close by. Those who had it done in Texarkansas, how much did y'all pay (or how much did the dr charge)? TIA

Husband had Lapband surgery Friday - I have questions
bling posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My husband just had his lapband surgery a few days ago (on Friday). He woke up this morning and described a feeling to me that I wanted to ask y'all here if this sounds normal... He said he feels a "lump" down between his breast bone. I say lump but he says it's almost as if there is something there poking him from the inside. Is this just the band he is feeling? Did any of y'all feel this? He thinks it may just be the procedure (or band) that he is feeling, but today is the first time he is feeling this kind of feeling. Also, he has broken out in a red rash all around his belly - except for a box right around all the incisions. It's almost as if they had something draped over his entire front side (not down his legs) that he had an allergic reaction on the areas it touched. Does this sound normal? I may have to make him call the Dr today if this all persists, but I wanted to get y'alls opinions on it, too. Thanks in advance! bling -
I was told 40 grams a day for the first 2 weeks after surgery - then 60 per day thereafter...

^^ Looks good! I am sooooo hoping to move mine up by a week. I should have the $$ to do that, but won't know for sure until we get closer to that date. My hubby just had his on Friday and now I really really can't WAIT!
-
I am scheduled for April 25. I am hoping to maybe do it sooner in April, but I am self pay and need to actually have the money before the surgery.
-
My husband and I went for our 1st consultation yesterday and we both have to have testing done with different areas before getting the surgery. We are going to try going thru our insurance first, but I have a feeling they probably won't pay.... So, we are still going thru with the surgery even if we have to self pay. My questions are: * what were all the costs involved? Was the initial amount given to you the full amount or are there hidden costs that I need to be taking into consideration * if your BMI was between 35 to 40, does the center you went to still require you to have a comobidity to go along with your lower ranged BMI (I have a BMI of 36 or so and I'm not sure I have any comobidities - I will need to do a sleep apnea test and I know I have a higher range on blood pressure, but it's never been diagnosed (I have med records that show all my bp ranges, I'm sure). * is there anything esle I need to be researching as for as self pay people go? I feel like I have researched and researched, but could still be missing something.... Oh, I did find a doctor who normally charges $12,500 but is running a "special" (I know that sounds bad, huh) of $9,500 thru 2/29. I thought that was a great deal being as that's lower then anywhere I have researched yet! TIA
