Chubbychoco, Yes, if you are trying to go through insurance approval, seeing a nutritionist is just one of a long list of things you will have to do in order to meet their requirements. They want to make sure you have "tried" everything and failed before approving you. My insurance sent my doctor and I a letter of two more things they needed to see before they would approve me. It is lots of paperwork and testing, but definietly worth it all. Good luck to you.

Quality over Quantity: The Struggle With Brain Hunger
jojo30family replied to NanaRenan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think this is the exact struggle I am having right now. When I get to the end of a meal, I think ok I really want more, but literally can't eat any more. My brain still wants it even though my stomache can't handle it. Does anyone else still struggle with wanting to eat just to eat, and not eating because your hungry? for me, this is still a downfall for me. -

I lived off of Campbell's Creamy tomato soup. It is thicker and seems to stay with you longer. You might try that, if you like tomato soup. -

mindyemt08, You are probably still healing internally from surgery still. I know for me, my pouch and band was swollen for several weeks after surgery. During that time I was not hungry. I was also on a restricted liquid diet. It took me four fills to hit my sweet spot and feel that my pouch is full. It will be a different type of fullness that you have to adjust to. Remember, eat slowly and chew, chew, chew!!! For me I haven't felt the belt-busting fullness since before my surgery because I can't eat that much. I do have to be aware of how much I am eating. Don't worry, you will get there. Keep it up! -
dreamer1068, PB's are productive burps! I just recently learned this myself. Sliming is what can come up with a productive burp. Speaking for myself, sometimes when something doesn't go down well, I will keep burping and a slimy substance that doesn't quite count as throw up will come up.

Good luck to you, let me know when you hear about your surgery! Joy in his office is EXCELLENT at getting paperwork and appointments lined up. She is really on top of contacting you and everything. -
Bent needles? Gosh that scares me. I have had 4 fills, and each time my doctor has me raise my legs. I guess that helps him find the port. Does anyone elses doctor do this? For my out of shape abs, it can be hard for me to hold my legs up. He teases me about it. Lol

Yes, stick to the diet the doctor gives you religiously. It is crucial for your healing. I also lost my most weight then! Good luck to you! Where are you having your surgery?

Dr. Ganta is very patient, and takes his time with you. He is also very encouraging. I really appreciate that. I have never, throughout this whole process, felt disappointed with him or his staff. I was sitting in his office one day waiting to see him before my surgery, and was looking through a magazine. I came upon an article about Dr. Ganta. It talked about him and his credentials. It also stated that he is one of the best lap band surgeons in the area. I think he was a "Top Gun" surgeon in medical school or residency. Made me feel more comfortable than I already was. -

Hi, I had my surgery in Austin with Dr. Ganta. However, a friend of mine had her surgery with Dr. Patel. She loves him, said he is very professional. I think surgeons have several hospitals they can be affiliated with. For instance, with Dr. Ganta I could choose from 4 different hospitals in Austin I could have my surgery at. Good luck to you! -
 Hello everyone! I am new to this site and was wondering, what is PBing? I am sure I do this, because when I read different posts I can relate to conversations that use the PBing. Can anyone enlighten me as to what it means?

Oh my gosh, you poor thing!!!!! If you are that concerned you need to tell your doctor. He can then do a flouro and take a look! I can't believe he doesn't at least use lido. The size of the fill needle is huge. Do you have a high pain tolerance?
