@Mysticpink74. Clear liquids for several days than liquids for two weeks You do not want any particle of food interfering with staple seams before they heal After Liquids two weeks soft or mushy foods. Then it's trial and error. You have to see what you can tolerate. It is not as terrible as it may seem to volumn eaters. There are no hunger pangs. Just watch your fluid intake

@Mysticpink74. I found that the best vitamins were OPURITY CHEWABLE gastric bypass vitamins. Approx $39 for 90 days. Also by calcium supplements and B12 (little pills). As far as protein drinks. PREMIER Protein was the best. vanilla chocolate. Strawberry or banana. Since you will be living with these two weeks before and two weeks after by a case of your favorite flavor and get use to them. They are 30 grams protein. You will need 60-90 grams a day For variety buy Ujury chicken soup (20 grams protein). And Ujury unflavored protein powder. This allows you to have homemade chicken soup broth and add 20 grams of tasteless protein to it Final tip. You need very little at hospital Toiletries under garment and nightgown. Everything you forget will be supplied. Just remember to drink walk and drink ASAP even if you are tired. Best of luck -

You wake up drugged. Over next two days you drink an once or two at a time and walk You may gain weight as I did from IV. This weight comes off in next week. as you did the pre op diet just another couple weeks of liquids and your new life begins. I hope this relieves some of your anxieties. Best of luck. s -

Any Sept. surgeries?
Steven1954 replied to SkinnyGalinFatPersonsBody's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My RNY bypass was sept 14. It was much less painful than anticipated Went to hospital for 100 surg . Surgery started 300 pm. Woke up totally drugged. Next morning there was little pain. Just a dry dry mouth. No ice chips or water for the past day and a half. Hardest thing was mustering the energy to get out of bed to walk First day after surgery 1 once water per hour Second day 2 ounces of water per hour Should have gone home Friday but was kept an extra day due to urinary retention from anesthesia. Foley and catheter must go back in Sat foley and catheter out and it's home I went. Plumbing working I made it despite all the skinny people telling me not to do it. Just eat less Good luck all -

I've had many due severe complications of lapband. The worst part is it comes out like cement

@gina171@shelbys mom. I'm in the same boat. Tremendous gerd for years. I was told by three separate surgeons that sleeve would make gerd worse. Rny would eliminate it. So. Second stage of band removal will be rny. Good luck with hour choice

Anyone get their surgery covered through a obamacare insurance?
Steven1954 replied to mswyatt1967's topic in Insurance & Financing
All plans must be ObamaCare (affordable care act) compliant. The exchange plans vary state by state Some have bigger deductibles and different co pays. Benefits vary but must include "minimun essential coverage " benefits -
You need to appeal to state insurance dept

Complications from surgery and self pay
Steven1954 replied to kingcake's topic in Insurance & Financing
Why don't you appeal their denial? -
Send a copy of the approval and file a complaint with the state insur dept It seems their delay was intentional

What's the every day difference? Band to bypass
Steven1954 replied to onmyway11's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you for your responses. I had the band removed in February 2016 due to massive complications lost 120 pds but gained back 50 and considering the rny. This answered a lot of questions -
Congratulations on your journey

holy hell **Confrontation or Enabling ?**
Steven1954 replied to Healthy_life2's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
In the eight years I had the band, I ran into many unsuccessful banders who were non compliant and drank their calories. They. Only fooled themselves. That's why insurance companies started refusing to pay for band removal for grossly non compliant banders. They also try to determine if there is "technical failure of the band" it's the same for any non compliant rny or sleeve people. If they cause a leak or do damage they could end up on a feeding tube. One thing I can tell you. After going from 305 to 175 for eight years. There is nothing as tasty as being thin. -
holy hell **Confrontation or Enabling ?**
Steven1954 replied to Healthy_life2's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost my band in February after eight successful years. This is the best website for obtaining info. It's one thing having a band put in knowing it could be removed. But revising to rny is irreversible and a tough decision That being said it's easy to ignore squabbling while listening to experiences of other rny ers. Thank you to all contributors out there
