@AmandaGillis. I have a stricture. I had bypass 9/14/16. Same symptons as you. First time ended up in hospital dehydrated for 5 days in oct. This mon ended up another two days. Both times could not swallow water more than a couple sips. Had two endoscopic dialations. Third one scheduled for week after next Hopefully that will cure it. It felt great to eat food again. Don't wait for appt. go to ER. Otherwise an easy fix turns into a major problem. Good luck

REVISION From band to bypass!
Steven1954 replied to Missbeauty16's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Ive had the band for eight years. Just revised to by pass. My surgery was sept 14. I lost 32 pds since 9/1/16 start of liquid diet The difference is when you were too tight with the band, they took out fluid. There is no letting out fluid with the bypass. You just eat less or you feel sick You do loose weight with bypass. It certainly stopped my weight regain when my band was taken out due to complications Also you must take your vitamins daily. As far as what I've been told by those with bypass, any complications can be resolved and all I've spoke to would have done it again if they had the opportunity. Best of luck to you -
Anyone eating with no restrictions

@@James Marusek excellent paper James. I've had a adjustable gastric lapband for eight years I went from 305 to 172. I learned it cold. Fill it a half cc and lose a few pounds. Take out a few and gain a few pounds. I never realized that due to complications the party would end I just revised to RNY last month. although I was use to working with restriction there were major differences. Your post and paper helped in the transition Thanks again. -

I had skin removed. Both front and back. Amazing difference. When I woke up I had a foley and catheter and four drains to go home with. After three days the foley and catheter came out and a week later the drains Well worth the week of of misery. -

Adjustable gastric LAPBAND card. After the lapband surgery they give you one to keep in your wallet in case of emergency. I had a port infection and needed the card so the hospital would have the right parts to change The card has the brand of band installed -

Is it normal to be nervous?
Steven1954 replied to semausmom's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@semausmom. Ive had so many people trying to talk me out of it I was very nervous but knew it was the right thing. I've had the band for 8 years and kept off 130 pds. When the band came out, 60 pds crept back. People will tell you how dangerous it is or how someone their friend knew had complications or died from it or other negative comments. I had the RNY. 9/14/16 From 9/1-now I lost 21 pounds. I'm on my way back to the. 175. Pounds I was for the past eight years. If there are complications in the future I will deal with them as the 1000 s of others in this group. I do know that we will all be healthier . Best of luck on your decision. -

Swan song—goodbye, and thank you.
Steven1954 replied to fatgirlsvelte's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@shedo82773. Years ago the procedure was much more dangerous. It was done as an open procedure and there was a high mortality rate. Now it is a relatively safe procedure There is regimented vitamin protocals and structured diets and numerous protein shakes that do not taste like chalk Hence the high success rate. That's why I chose the rny as a revision -
Swan song—goodbye, and thank you.
Steven1954 replied to fatgirlsvelte's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I ve had eight years of success with the band before major complications forced it's removal. I lost 130 pds. I started to gain weight back no matter how I dieted before choosing the RNY. WLS is a tool. It requires lifestyle changes. It is not a magic pill. That being said I have been over 300 all my life. If I lost 50 pds I gained back 60. That's why I chose wls. we are all work in progress and you are still young. You are always free to change your mind. The only one you have to answer to is yourself. best of luck to you. -

Steven1954 replied to nursey10465's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had band removed in February 2016. Weight started coming back just got revised to rny. Weight is dropping Proves if you follow the rules RNY works. Once you have the taste of being normal weight for eight years , it is hard to go back. Best of luck to you -

Had severe reflux and gerd from Band. After RNY reflux gone. The anticipation of pain and complications is much worse than the procedure. Just be prepared to follow the rules. Best of luck -
To Wait Until Later or To Do Surgery Now?

@icyblufrz88. Take a lesson from President Eisenhower in the 1950's. He said make the best decision you can from the facts you have and don't waiver It seems you already have made the decision as the rest of us had. Good luck in your decision -
To Wait Until Later or To Do Surgery Now?
Steven1954 replied to icyblufrz88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have lost over 100 pds approx five times in my life. Always gained it back until the lapband. Lost 130 pds for eight years until complications necessitated its removal. I gained back 60 pds. Now with the RNY weight is coming off again. It's almost impossible to keep it off for good w/o wls Also insurance coverage is getting harder and harder to approve I would seize the opportunity. Best of luck in your decision.
