  1. I have Anthem. I was required to do a 6 month supervised weight loss program also but I was able to do it with my pcp. I had to go in 1 time every month and log what I was doing to lose weight. I had my sleeve done in April of 2016. I would think the insurance company would cover it if you've already done it. I also had to have my pcp write a letter explaining all my health issues and that this procedure would be the best option for me and my health. Good luck Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Back Pain?

My back was killing me for the first 5mths post op. I started seeing a chiropractor and he said that it had to do with the drastic change in body shape. Basically, your back had to reshape and conform to "a new you". Because you weren't carrying as much weight. It does get better. I was getting adjustments for 6 mths after my surgery. I am almost one year out and it's alot better. Good luck and congratulations and the weight loss.
  4. I took 4 weeks off after my sleeve. I work the dock in the morning and then drive a city route in a semi. I just wanted to make sure I was full healed because of the strain of the dock work and constantly opening the trailer door. I had no problems at all when I went back to work. Do you mind if I ask what kind of work you do? My husband said he would be interested in WLS but he worries about work. He is in industrial maintenance. He could take off the time for surgery, but he worries about going back to work. There is no such thing as light duty for his job. Sorry for hijacking this thread, but when you mentioned boots, it made me think about this... carry on. Lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App I drive a semi and work the dock. I wasn't allowed to do light duty either. I couldn't go back till I was 100%. I took 4 weeks off after my surgery. I was worried about all the heavy lifting and I open my trailer door about 25 times a day and they sometime stick and get heavy. When I did go back I didn't have really any problems. Every once in a while my muscles in my stomach would get an achy feeling from the strain but it never kept me from working. I think if your husband listens to his doctor and does exactly what he is supposed to do while in recovery he should be fine. Good luck.... Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  9. I had my sleeve done on March 28th. I have 6 incisions. They are very, very small. One is a little longer than the rest. That is the one that he pulls your stomach through. The good news is that I sometimes have a hard time seeing them. They are very small
  10. With my work I was told that it was best to do both. I had my sleeve on April 28th. I am on intermittent fmla which covers me for all of my dr appointments from the day I started this process for a year and then I am on short term disability for the block of time I am off for the actual surgery and recovery time until I am released to go back go work.
  11. Procarenow.com has an affordable bariatric vitamin. They have it as a chewable or a pill. My NUT said that it was a good one instead of what the dr. Had and it's affordable.
  12. My surgery is scheduled for Monday 28th. After that I will need to take protein shakes to help supplement my protein intake. What are some products you have found that taste good and mix well?
  13. My doctor requires a 2 week optifast diet. It includes 5 drinks and 1 meal replacement bar and all the water I want. My surgery is the 28th and I am so ready to be done with this drink. Good luck to everyone on there surgery

    Pre Op liquid diet

My doctor requires a 2 week optifast diet before surgery. It's 5 drinks and 1 bar a day total of 900 calories. Also have to lose at 15 pounds before surgery to help shrink the liver to make the procedure safer. I start week 2 tomorrow and my surgery is Monday the 28th

    Blenders

I am starting week 2 of my optifast drinks. I just bought a nutri ninja with the auto iq. I have used it twice and LOVE it. I put some crushed ice in it and my drink for a smoothie taste for something different. No ice chunks at all in it. I have a full size ninja and this works tons better for single servings. Especially smoothies. Can't wait till I can puree some real food in it. Good luck
