What is the march bandster's official name for this year?

I like shrinking shamrocks too. -
That is great! I'm so going to use that line! LOL Lauren, I'm pretty much in the same boat with you. I'm doing this pretty much by myself, well I should say totally by myself. My only friend is in CA, the 2 people at work I did tell at work look at me like a freak now and both said, "oh your funny, you don't need it, just stop eating". My husband dosen't want me to do it and if I'm in any pain or discomfort after surgery I need to make sure he dosen't know about it because he'll think/look at me like "I told you so", or "you didn't have to do it you know"! Won't say it out loud but I know his looks and the way he thinks! We are here for you and joining the hospital support group or somthing like that will help a lot too I'm sure.

protein drink samples
ronwifey replied to BIGDSWIFE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only one I know of is this website where my Dr. instructed me to get mine from: Bariatric Advantage - Nutritional supplements, Vitamins, Proteins, and Help for Gastric Bypass, Distal, Lap Band, and Duodenal Switch Surgery Patients -
We must have the same book, lol. I spoke to the nutrionist who completely broke everything down for me and explained at all in my terms. Every day starting at 2 weeks post op I HAVE to have 60 grams of Protein. So she gave me a list of drinks and how much protein. For example: EAS 100% whey Protein Powder-one scoop of that is 23 grams of Protein. Put that in a glass (8oz) of MOOTOPIA SKIM MILK, which is 14 grams of protein to total 37 grams of protein in that one drink. Do that 2 times a day and you got it! You can get the powder from HEB (or grocery store), WALMART or Sams Club. As far as liquid stage. I have to drink 64 oz of Water a day. So that is 8 sports bottles worth. So that is how I am going to keep track and becasue we can't gulp the Dr. told me to sip ALL DAY LONG! Also she said you can use crystal light and that "counts" as water. I was very panicked too but I just asked lots of questions. Hope this helped a little. P.S. Here is the website I am getting my Vitamins and Protein Drinks and powder from. Bariatric Advantage - Nutritional supplements, Vitamins, Proteins, and Help for Gastric Bypass, Distal, Lap Band, and Duodenal Switch Surgery Patients

Howdy from San Antonio!!
ronwifey replied to alicatcyclist's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I'm in San Antonio too. I know what you mean about taking control now. I weigh 242 and have a BMI of 39.1, I know a year from now I'll be at least 265 so I want to nip this cycle in the bud NOW! What Dr. are you seeing? I'm with Dr. Cavazos and am having my surgery at NE Baptist. P.S. Was it hot enough for you today, lol ? It does not feel like Feb. at all. -
You would think that Blue Cross Blue Shield would have same requirements no matter what state and or Company you have it through. I mean BCBS is still BCBS.

 You look wonderful! Congrats on an amazing job from the weight loss to out of your wheelchair! :tt2:

My Dr.s office has an office manager that deals strictly with insurance companies and also knows the in's and out's, luckily! I was APPROVED, YIPEE!

Banded yesterday in NYC
ronwifey replied to mediummike's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mike~ welcome to the boards and congrats on getting "banded". That's great you don't feel any hunger. That's one of my biggest fears of getting my band. I LOVE  food and what happens if I come home from surgery and just can't help it and scarf down a hot pocket or someting, lol. No but really, I'm kind of feeling sad about having that freedom taken from me. Anyways, congrats again and look forward to hearing your progress. Oh, one more thing. Do you drink Water? If you do then how much and how do you do it and if you don't how do you not dehydrate? Stupid question but curious. Thanks -
I have BC/BS FED Basic and the office manager at the surgery center told me that BCBS FEP has a "special department" now that handles nothing but Weight Loss Surgery. As soon as my Dr.s office got the OK from my psych eval they called BCBS up and got approval right then and there. The office manager told me that BCBS FEP is one of the easiest to get approval for IF you meet 40 BMI. They don't require a 6 month diet or anything like that. I went to my seminar like 3 weeks ago, had 1st appointment with Dr., dietician and psych eval about 2 weeks ago and got the call from Dr's office with surgery date yesterday.

Hi, we got a new boxer puppy and we are having the hardest time house training her. At first we let her roam as she pleased downstairs at night when we went to sleep but man was that a mistake so our vet suggested crate training. So my husband thought it would be "nicer" if we just put her in the laundrey room at night, he said, "it's like a big crate". UMMM OK! Well she has her toys and blanket and bed but she cries and scratches at the door for at least a couple hours. It breaks my heart . Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, she will be in the laudrey room for about 5-6 hours during the day. So will she cry the whole time???? Thanks so much. P.S> I love her to death already but my other 2 dogs didn't go through this (I guess I was VERY VERY lucky) so 1) I'm not used to it and 2) I'm wondering if I'm in over my head.

HI! Good luck for Friday, everything will go fine. Look forward to hearing all about it when you are up to it.

arde07~ HI.... I'm another Texan. WOW, you have had great results in your weight loss. WTG! I hope I can do as well as you. If you don't mind me asking, who did your surgery in S.A. ? Thanks
-
Sadie~ I have my surgery on 3/3 also. You must have read my mind, I have been thinking about this all day. I'm going to miss food so much  I can't imagine sitting at my computer and not grazing. Best of luck to us.

Mine was very very simple: she asked me why I want to get the lap band, and then handed me a 400 questionaire. Yes 400 questions. It's called the MMPI and it asks some pretty lame questions like "would you rather be a forest ranger or a florist ?" What that has to do with me not wanted to be fat anymore is beyond me, lol It's really no biggie and you'll do fine.

I'm so confused as where I should go. I have no idea which Dr.s are in my network or not. I tried to look on BC/BS FEP web site and can't find none. I have a seminar on Sat at NE Baptist but I haven't seen anyone here use them and it worries me. Someone help please, lol. TIA

Suzanne~ I know what you mean about the "monster out of the cage". My monster is out of the cage and completely out of control. Great job on losing! I hope I have the same results as you.
