Hi. I wasn't hungry until about an hour ago when hubby made baked chicken and mashed potatoes. I never wanted to just taste real food so bad. I'm on Clear liquids, Jello and popsicles for another week then I think I can go to Protein drinks and maybe Soup. I hope so! I find out at my next Dr. Appointment. I walked a little bit more today and only took pain meds once. I'm getting cabin fever and can't wait until I can shower, sleep and work like I used too. Glad everyone else is doing so well. I hope I can keep up this diet...it's so so so so so hard.

Also, I remember when I called before surgery the rep. at BCBS told me it is better to be "INPATIENT". Maybe that is where the costs might come from. If you are outpatient then you may not be covered as much as inpatient. I hope you find the answers you need.

Hi. I also have FED BCBS Basic and just got banded on 3/3/08. I stayed 1 night in the hospital so I had to pay the $100.00 and co-pay of $30.00 when I see my Dr. I was also approved very quick. I received a letter from BCBS and I'll quote parts of the letter. "The following procedure has been approved as medically necessary as defined by the member's Health Care Benefits booklet or Summary Plan Description" Goes on to state my Physician, facility treatment setting ; which states "Inpatient Acute". "Service Procedure Code: 43770 The service Procedure Description " LAPAROSCOPY, SURGICAL GASTRIC RESTRICTIVE PROCEDURE; PLACEMENT OF ADJUSTABLE GASTRIC BAND ( GASTRIC BAND AND SUB CUTANEOUS PORT COMPONENTS)" Does not say anything about "implant". I called to make sure my provider and hospital was a "participating provider" and in-network provider and facility, and thankfully they are!

For those who got banded this week and last
ronwifey replied to ronwifey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you guys so much! I'm glad I'm not the only one who still takes pain meds. As of now I might not need it anymore though, I feel ok. I can't believe I'm only 3 days post op. It feels like so long ago I had the surgery, lol. The only think I am eating/drinking is water, very little SF (sugar free) juice, 2 sf jello cups a day and 1-2 SF popsicles. Oh and last night had a cup of chicken broth. LAst night (tonight) was the fisrt night I slept on my side in my bed. It was great! I can't wait to sleep on my tummy again. Thanks again -
How Long After Surgery Do We Drink The Protein Shakes For?
ronwifey replied to Erika-PA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Did You See A Cardiologist?
ronwifey replied to dpj00024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to have an EKG too and I don't have any health problems it's just a requirement for all his patients to get one during pre-op appointment. -
I've only been banded 3 days but the last 2 have been awful with those gas pains. I do feel it's getting better the more I walk though.. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi everyone. I'm still real sore and with every move it feels like I'm pulling or tearing someting so I'm going to make this brief. Yesterday I had my surgery at approx. 1:30 ish. I remember getting wheeled in the hallway to OR then they put some "stuff" in my IV and that was it. I woke up in recovery still drugged, throat killing me and begging for pain meds. Got to my room, slept off and on all night mostly off though, lol. Had upper GI this moring (the crap you have to drink for that is soooooo disgusting:scared2: ) no leaks and Dr. said everything looks great so I was released from Hospital. I have read on here how people go back to work in like 2-3 days. OMG I guess I am a huge baby but there is no way I could. I'm in pain especially where my biggest incision is. It drained a lot too. The pain liquid stuff I'm on helps to take the edge off but I still feel everything. I am so glad they made me stay the night in the hospital and so glad it's over. Oh and with all the IVs and gas and stuff I gained 6 pounds in hospital. Sooo....where are the other 3/3 banders at???? Thanks for all your well wishes! :smile2:

There is no way I would be able to go to work so soon. I'm sooo glad I took 3 weeks off now. Feeling ok again seems so far away  Best of luck on your surgery! Look forward to hearing how it goes.

Whats Up with the Shoulder Pain??
ronwifey replied to destynee990's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right now I don't care what it is called but it hurts like HELL! I don't want to scare you but I wasn't prepared and I was very worried about the pain, if I knew how bad it could be then I wouldn't have worried as much. I think I have an average tolerance for pain and before I take my pain meds I am at about a 8 out of 1 through 10. I am taking others' advice and hoping it gets better by the day. -
Freaking out.....seven incisions?
ronwifey replied to rkilbury's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 4 little incisions and 1 pretty big one. They are covered with steri-strips. I had the same exact fears as you as far as what if I don't lose. But I tell you what, I had to force myself to eat a Jello today and I am full so you will lose weight. You'll do fine! -
I guess I was still out of it! I meant to start this thread in Post-banded. Maybe if a mod see's this they can move it for me.

Phospho-Soda Question
ronwifey replied to 2AHealthier Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If that's like the stuff I had to drink, I drank half the bottle then 2 hours later the other half. I just chugged it both times to just get it over with. -
It's a "bowel prep". Basically it makes you go #2 to clean your insides out, I guess. It tastes awful and havent went yet so we'll see.........

I'm scheduled to be at the hosptial at 8:00 am (3/3). At noon today I drank half the bottle of citrate then at 2 pm I will drink the other half. No more food just clear liquids here on out then after midnight...nothing. I'm nervous but excited. Can't wait to hear how everyone is doing in a couple days.

Hi everyone. Happy Saturday! Did anyone have to stay the night after their Lap Band surgery? My Dr said he makes all his WLS patients stay at least 1 night and 2 if GB. Just curious to why??? If you did stay, what did they make you do or not do that couldn't be done at home? TIA
-
March 3rd is the day! I'm nervous and excited but SOOOOO scared. I'm worried that I'll be in pain 24/7 for the rest of my life and wont be able to go back to work, etc...... I told my boss today that I needed 3 weeks off but what happens if I'm not OK at 3 weeks post-op? I lift very heavy boxes and stuff like that. Also, I have my pre-op appointment next Thursday, are they going to do an EKG? I hope they do, ya know to be safe, lol. In the paperwork I got it talked very briefly about my diet after the surgery and it said Water, chicken broth and sugar free Jello for 2 weeks. I thought you HAVE to be on liquids for first 4 weeks??????? Also it says I'll probably be staying in the hospital for 2 days. I'm wondering if this was a generic letter given to all WLS patients and that part is meant for Gastric Bypass Surgery patients. I have so many questions I know and I'll have probably 50 more before my pre-op appointment. Tonight I'm going to do serious research on this site and try to ease my mind a bit. :confused2:

If You Had To Gain Weight to Get Lap-Band Covered By Insurance...?
ronwifey replied to photo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had to take my shoes off. I had to have a BMI of 40. As far as weights.......those ones maybe that go around your ankles, like walking weights, and wear pants. There are some posts on here somewhere with ideas that helped others out. -
Were you drug tested before surgery?
ronwifey replied to Candle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now that you mention it........ at my pre-op they gave me a cup for a urine sample. They told me bring it in with me the morning of surgery with 1st "sample". I thought it was for a pregnancy test but maybe not, or both. -
What the heck do I do with all this damn protein???
ronwifey replied to Fenton's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to add mine to Fat Free Mootopia Milk and now I will make the shakes that were posted above too, great idea!
