Just wondering if there is any success stories out there with people who are banded and have Crohn's.

Is anyone banded and have IBD? Just wondering. I've always had problems with colitis but I was just recently diagnosed. Would love to know if the band has helped or hindered? Experiences and advice much appreciated! Thanks!!!

IBD is inflammatory bowel disease. It is either Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis and we don't know which one I have. I'm pretty sure it's Crohn's because my stomach has started swelling affecting my band. My last bad flare-up I had I ended up having to have 3 pints of blood and I continually struggle with low blood iron. I feel for you because I know anything to do with the bowels is no fun. Thanks for responding.

Thanks for responding Jacqui! I can't imagine what you've been through. Your weight loss is awesome! Do you have problems with low blood iron?

My name is Melissa and I am 39 years old. I have two children ages 17 and 10 and I run a daycare in my home, which I've done for over 10 years. I had surgery on July 5, 2006 and my surgeon was Dr. Oldham with Bluegrass Bariatrics. I've lost about 40 lbs. and know that I need to get serious and follow the band rules because sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I'm going Friday for another fill. I made the mistake of staying too tight and had to have most of it taken out. I'm now starting to get restriction again. Good luck to each of you wherever you may be on your journey!

Hi Annie, I live In Salyersville. I travel about 2 hours for all my follow-up but it's worth it. Although the gas prices do hurt the pocketbook. Congratulations to you! You are doing GREAT!:clap2:

Have any of you had your surgeries paid for by your State Vocational Rehabilitation Program? If so do you know how it works? Someone had told me they thought it was similiar to Medicaid. Any info or advice would be great.:help: Thanks in Advance, Melissa-preband
