Vitomatic makes a protein powder that is pretty good as well. I have a hard time with breakfast in the mornings so I am more likely to make a protein shake to take to work with me first thing in the morning and that one mixes well and doesnt have the after taste I have noticed with a lot of them
-
I also use the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and I also use the Biggest Loser weight loss yoga dvd, both give a really good workout
-
The one I stumbled on through the dietician at my Doctor's office is by Vitomatic and is the one protein powder I found I can stand the taste of and it mixes very well. It comes in 5 different flavors and all of them are pretty good and I think its low in carbs as well.

I also usually avoid putting onions in my chilli beacause I really don't care for them. I am another one who hates dishes and they will sit until I run out and have to do them, however I got them all done and got ambitous and made some food for the week such as black bean burgers, the bacon cheeseburger quiche recipe on here which i cooked in a muffin tin for individual portions and home made granola bars to take as a snack to work. All of which came out pretty good. Now I just have to clean up again.

I actually have 4 small containers of homemade turkey chilli in my fridge right now. But sometimes with full time work and school its easier for me to use that if I dont have time to cook, though I dont get it that often.

The hormel turkey chilli that I get has beans in it, I havent seen a no bean version of it. Where did you get it?

My doctor also suggested adding zinc to my vitamins to help with hair loss. The other thing I use that seems to have helped is the Nioxin(sp?) shampoo. My hair was already really fine and kinda thin so when I started losing I freaked out.

Mayonaise-free Chicken salad??
blueangelkc80 replied to AngieW_RN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have made it with different vinaigrettes before and its turned out pretty good. You could try that. -
For me my cardiologist actually suggested the surgery and helped me get going, my former primary care doctor however was a whole other story, she was not very supportive about it at all and made it slightly difficult to complete the process but I did not let it get to me and went through with it and got the band October of 2008. She is also no longer my PCP after the lack of support and then with the physical before surgery my insurance was being a pain and denied some initial appointments from the surgeon and then denied the physical but the surgeons office resubmitted and insurance paid, her office did not. When I saw my cardiologist in July he sent me to a new PCP because I suffer from migraines so I need access to a doctor to get my meds for that.

Is anyone eating 60-70g of SOLID protein AND meeting other requirements?
blueangelkc80 replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Canellini beans are basically a white kidney bean, I think they are used a lot in italian dishes, I was watching foodnetwork a couple weeks ago (tv is usually background noise for homework) and Giada DeLaurentis made a salad out of edamame, cannelini beans and a couple other things that looked good so I found the recipe and tried it and it was pretty good. I know both the edamame and beans have decent protein so maybe thats something to try, feel free to message me if you want the recipe and I will email it to you. -
A lot of people on here use the daily plate or fit day and seem to like those, I am sure there are others out there as well.

Does anyone have a redi set go?
blueangelkc80 replied to audreysmommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had seen the informercial of the original one and was doing some looking and what keeps coming up is that the nonstick coating peels off quickly and the lid blisters, some people have it and love it and others hate it, personally I will wait until it hits stores to check it out that way I am not getting the run around or getting charged for a bunch of stuff I don't want or need. It is a cool idea though. -
I have my Bachelors in Criminal Justice from Indiana University and am back at University of Cincinnati working on an Associates in Forensics, as well as working full time for the Courts in Kentucky so I understand about the meal issues, I am still working on it and I had my band done 10/23/08

Covington, KY right outside Cincinnati, Ohio, I have been MIA on here for a bit due to some personal things happening and I am just now getting back on here and getting myself back in gear

blueangelkc80 replied to Odjii's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had mine on a Thursday and was back to class that Monday, so I only missed my 2 Friday classes and I was upfront with the teachers who were both very understanding and in one I missed a test that they let me make up and the other was our review for midterms that another student took notes for me and emailed them to me, I was sore but was able to walk campus alright at that point. -
Dr. George Kerlakian - Has anyone in the Cincinnati area had LapBand Surgery with Dr Kerlakian
blueangelkc80 replied to murphy5's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had my band done by Dr. Martin-Hawver with UC physicians and I have no complaints what so ever about the doctor or the staff everyone has always been incredibly helpful and responsive if I have had any questions or problems. I know they see bypass patients as well Kelly so it might be worth looking into. -

I am sorry for what you have had to go thru so far, my first fill was not a great experience either..My surgeon put 2 ccs in and there was 4 in there from the date of surgery. It took a couple of days for it to hit that it was too tight and I was absolutely miserable. I ended up calling the office and getting in the next day to have some fluid taken out, thats when I found out how much was in there, the second fill went fine and I was really close to restriction, 2 weeks ago I got my 3rd fill and I think I am slightly too tight I can eat but not very much at a time. I go back Friday to the surgeon so I may have a little taken out.. It will get better and congratulations on being close to goal -
I had my first fill yesterday the 21st and it did hurt. It wasnt the needle itself that hurt it was the pushing looking for the port and then moving the needle around that was the worst. At first we thought it might be too tight so the Dr went back in to try and take some out and couldnt find the port the 2nd time, after a few minutes of trying I said enough, lets just try it as is and see how it goes, if I have any problems I am supposed to call the office monday to come back in and try again to unfill. So far it seems like it might be ok but I havent started back to soft foods yet so the test is still to come. I did lose 8 pounds in the 2 weeks betweeen appointments so I was very happy about that. I am hoping the pain goes away as time goes on with the fills.

Those banded 10/22/08 KEEP ME POSTED
blueangelkc80 replied to mcornejo1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 23rd and can relate to the pain when you laugh or cough and change positions. Other than that it hasn't been too bad for me. I am not having the hunger issues like I was figuring I would, I am really not hungry at all and have been trying to force myself to make sure I am getting enough protein and water and its hard. I lost 14 pounds on the preop diet and I am not sure if I have lost anything else yet. I go back to the doctor on the 7th for my 2 week follow up and I figure I will find out then how much more I have lost if anything.. The one thing I can say is that I went back to work to quick...(I started back on Tuesday) but my boss has been pretty good about letting me leave early if we arent insanely busy.. I have been getting my walking in at school and I try and get up and wander around a little bit at work periodically, I am going to ask about starting back to the gym when I go back to the doctor...Keep up the good work everyone!! -
Any October Bandsters!??!?!

I survived my first day back at my apartment yesterday, I had been staying at a hotel with my mom right after surgery to help give me a break from my animals. Within an hour of being home yesterday my black and white cat managed to get ahold of a bag and get it wrapped around his neck and was running thru the house, and it took me forever to get ahold of him to get it off him especially since he went under my bed and my roommate was at work and couldnt help. I havent been feeling too bad, I have gas pains occasionally and I am trying to get up and walk around as much as I can as well. I have only been taking the pain medicine at night to help me get comfortable enough to sleep. I am on full liquids for a week, then pureed/bleneded food for a week then 2 weeks of soft foods and then back to regular food. Overally I have been doing alright, I just have to keep the cats from climbing on me like they are used to doing. -

Oregonirish: If you like chocolate, nectar makes a powder called chocolate truffle that is not too bad. I don't really notice the after taste with it. -

I go for my preadmission testing on the 16th, 1 week before surgery. I have surgery on the 21st and started my preop diet friday night and I am currently starving, I think my body trying to adjust to the shock gave me a migraine this morning on my way to the Doctors office for my evaluation with the personal trainer to set up an exercise plan to work with, so I was bad and skipped my morning classes because I was having a hard time functioning and I needed to be at my evening classes so I came home and slept for a while which helped. What has been helping me with the hunger is I keep distracting myself with, homework, my Mom calling to check on me 2 and 3 times a day, as well as playing a game on my laptop, plus getting outside and walking. Ok I think I am starting to ramble and its time for me to go to bed since its 4 am here. Congrats on everyones upcoming surgeries.
