My program only requires a 45 minute delay after eating. I was told it was okay to drink right up to the point of eating. I got used to it pretty quickly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I think it's unfortunate that bariatric dietitians and surgeons have not been able to come up with standards for post surgery diets. Maybe they have but I'm not aware of them?Obviously there would be exceptions but it does seem like there should be more agreement in Protein, carb and fat grams as well as portion size and calorie max/min. Why do so many people like "my 600 pound life" ?

I find it motivating to see how they overcame obstacles. I really like the doctor - he seems to really care about his patients. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Lol - I'm freezing all the time also. I've been told my body will get used to less fat insulation eventually. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What helps me is to tell myself I had my share (and believe me over the last 35 years of overeating I had more than my share of just about every food item I like)! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I haven't had any hair loss that I know of and I'm six months out from bypass. I was really worried about it cuz my hair is fine and sparse anyway. In fact I bought a wig before surgery. I began taking Biotin about six months prior to surgery and was super careful about getting enough Protein, Water, and fat after surgery so maybe that helped. My program's goal for me seemed really high also. It actually made me question whether surgery was worth it. I suspect a higher goal helps their statistics appear more successful. I am aiming for the high end of a normal BMI. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Why is weight loss a one size fits all scenario here? Different goals call for different approach
j16 replied to Tootsietoes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've actually found this discussion very interesting. At about six months I'm cleared for all foods. My counselor is pushing the moderation approach, my NUT is just worried about Protein, and the majority of folks on this site push a strict low carb approach. I am worried that I am not getting enough nutrients in from food versus supplements. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm sorry to hear about your recent struggles! I second the suggestion to talk to your professor. If that doesn't work you might want to contact the university ombudsman or if you have a counselor perhaps they could write a letter on your behalf. If you do qualify for an accommodation maybe you can retake the exam with an accommodation? If not, you can still be successful. Believe in yourself and don't give up! Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to keep taking my bariatric Vitamin until told otherwise. It will be interesting to hear what they say at my next appt. I don't eat seafood or soy but have been having more red meat since surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

No, I have never had a shot or B12 supplement (other than what is in my multivitamin). -
I was told that If you lost a lot right before surgery that can slow down your early weight loss. It sounds like you are doing very well. At three months I was down 23 pounds from surgery. I am continuing to lose though and at almost 6 months am down 58, 102 total. We are all different. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I've weighed every day for years. I find it very motivating. If my weight is going up for a few days I try to eat less or make sure my sodium intake is lower. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
