After five months, I can eat almost anything in small amounts. I've noticed that I throw away a lot of food without guilt now. We just got home from camping last night. I took yogurts and fruit, fresh cheese ravioli and premade sauce, chicken with fresh mushrooms and zucchini w a box of rice, eggs and pre-cooked Jimmy Dean turkey sausage crumbles. Stuff like that. I packed too much food, I still put too much on my plate, and think I can eat more than I really can. My only advise to you is to stay with what you know you like and can tolerate. Just because we are camping, nothing really changes for us. Take baggies for the leftovers. Plenty of ice to keep everything cold and fresh. Hydrate and remember your vitamins. Take games and your camera. Enjoy the sounds of children. It's not about the food.. we are living life now.

My ex-husband and his girlfriend took me along to Disney World and paid for my trip. We have the best family. They rented a house and I had my own room. We also had our two kids, three grandkids and Peggy's three kids. Everyone got along. Eleven of us in our matching 2015 Family Vacation T-shirts. My friends said, Wait, you are going to spend a week with your ex and his girlfriend???? Yep. He paid for me because he said he was trying to make amends for being an ass when we were married. Yep, I'll take it. We are all going on a cruise together in July 2017. You are a good guy, Pirate. You won't have any reason to spend your vacations with your ex-wife.

HUGE NSV - Ziplining
SactoWendy replied to sharkgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always wanted to zip-line but was too heavy. I had no idea that skills were involved haha.I thought we just sat there and zoomed down the line enjoying the view. I am still 220 so I may need to keep losing, but it's on the radar at least now. We are going on a Norwegian cruise and one of the excursions offers zip-lining in Belize City. I'm so happy you got to go and happy you got to achieve a goal. It's the best feeling. -

An I just being crazy or have others gone through this?
SactoWendy replied to Icantbelieveit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery in January. Sometimes I still wear my old big clothes just because I am not ready to say goodbye yet. Silly. I love being thinner and I love my new clothes that are 4 sizes smaller. it's just hard letting go. I told myself that I don't have to give the clothes away until I am ready. I have already given a lot away but I am holding on to some favorites. Once they are gone, they are gone. PS enjoy the new life.. it's amazing. -
This surgery was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I had surgery in Jan 2016 and I feel great. I didn't get any of the nausea or other issues. I can play with my three grandchildren on the floor finally. My knees don't hurt so we can go hiking. I am camping again. I'm not in constant pain. I'm 62 and I don't care about some hanging skin on my arms. It's just not important anymore. I don't take all the meds I used to need and that is what's important. I CAN eat anything I want, but I don't because I want to remember what got me to 296 pounds. ugh! Good luck to you all along this path.

Transporting Protein Shakes to Work?
SactoWendy replied to Annek2014's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I keep a big tub of Costco protein powder under my desk. No one bothers it. Shaker cup in my cupboard. Keep it simple. -

HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!
SactoWendy replied to IrishGermanRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is a silly question, but what weight should I put as my starting weight. 296 when I started the process a year ago. 284 before I started the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. 272 the day of surgery 1-12-2016. Which one did you use?? I am 244 today 3/11-2016 I think I am loosing very slowly and I am frustrated. I see others have lost so much more so I am wondering if I am using a different starting weight. -

Anyone have RNY on 01-18-16
SactoWendy replied to Lyndzee104's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had gastric on 1-12..one month ago. I've had no troubles, no nausea, and I can eat anything...and I mean anything including sugar. salad and meats are not a problem either as long as I chew well. My concern is that I don't feel the restriction they said I would feel when I started eating solid foods. I have to really be on my game or this isn't going to work for me. At my two week checkup, the surgeon said I could eat anything. I took him literally and I haven't lost a pound since. Monday I started meal planning and weighing my foods so I can start losing weight again. I have to remind myself that the surgery was a tool and not a fix. -

Hi I had RNY on January 12...Is that close enough? Wendy -
My tips for the liquid diet are just to remember why you are doing it...The doctor told me it was to shrink the liver so he would have room to do his work. This is not just another diet...I looked at it as a way to help my doctor do a good job on my body. I envisioned him trying to move all my fat and innards around trying to staple the right areas. Graphic but it helped me stay strictly on the Protein drinks like my life depended on it and a successful, complication-free surgery and recovery depended on it. Do it for YOU.

Based on my recovery, I would say no. It's a little soon. On the 5th day post op I developed a bowel obstruction from constipation. I was also quite tired after I did anything. If all goes well for you, then yes you could probably play the violin and take it very easy. Everyone's experience is different on the forum. I would hate for you to say Yes and then have to back out the day before..It is the most special day of her life.

HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!
SactoWendy replied to IrishGermanRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my two week post op check up today. I'm feeling really good. Nothing hurts, no nausea etc. Dr Shadle said I could eat "anything" now and I don't need puréed foods anymore. I made three bean salad for dinner haha. Funny, the things I crave. Salmon. A green salad. I'm going carefully with small bites and lots of chewing. -
