My endoscopy revealed the beginning stages of Barrett's disease. It is thought the hernia repair will improve the reflex . My surgery is this coming Wednesday... I am nervous

Today was my first day to start the Adkins diet. I have been instructed to eat this high Protein diet for 4 days and then go to Atkins shakes for 3 days. I had Breakfast around 0830 this morning and at 1030 my blood sugar had bottomed out to the 40s. I ate some lunch meat that I found, but i knew that was not going to be enough with my routine medications on board. So, I end up eating a fruit cup to get my blood sugar up. I guess going forward, I need to reduce my medications. I take 3 different medications. I guess, I am going to have to experiment with what to take. Have others had problems with their blood sugar and medications during the pre-op diet?

Calling all February 1st Sleevers!

I would love to group to chat with. My surgery is February 24th and today I started the pre-diet. This is really making it real. -
My surgery is in 10 days and I thought yesterday, I need to have a food funeral and eat what I like since I see the doctor on Wednesday and I am sure he will start me on a diet a week out from the surgery. Well, I had Mexican food yesterday for lunch with an " adult beverage", and I was miserable ALL day and into the evening from the reflex. I have a large hernia that needs to be fixed and that is going to be done at the same time as the sleeve. Even though the literature states that people can develop reflux and GERD after a sleeve, my doctor believes that fixing my hernia and doing the sleeve will actually improve my symptoms. I sure hope it will.

Removing nail polish was the "old school" way of monitoring capillary refill in the nail beds. Now a days, we use monitors to measure your O2 saturations. I actually plan of going and getting a mani and pedi a day or two before my surgery date of February 24th. Best of luck to you

How many days off work ?
bevewhite replied to Amayor85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I decided not to tell my employer that I am having surgery because I did not want to be subjected to judgement. I know that in time everyone will figure it out. I did not want the added stress prior to having the procedure done. I am going to take off 2 weeks -
Just wondering what's everyone's story and starting weight was?
bevewhite replied to nicky2221's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it true that the weight loss will be 60 % of what you need to lose with the sleeve? It looks like many people actually hit their personal goal. My personal goal would be 60 pounds. -
