Lets talk scales....
SHOTzY* replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have a 'HEALTH O METER' that my sister suggested to me. It seems to be very accurate. I use my sister's weight as a control check to make sure it stays accurate. She weighs daily and once a week she weighs on my scale, and so far it is the same as her daily weigh. That we we know if I'm truly going down or up. Also, the dr's scale is always within1.5-2#'s of my home scale. Works for me! -
Where are all the February surgeries?
SHOTzY* replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm waiting for everything to come together also. My healthcare team has told me to be ready by February 8, and that they are sure the insurance will be okay. I was told that this is common place in many cases, the ins company runs behind or drags their feet. Hope we all hear soon so we can put this niggling doubt to bed!!!???? -
I know what you mean!! I'm trying to get everything ready for post op: protein powder, clear liquids, the right size containers, etc. during all this preparation, trying not to let my nerves get the best of me????!! We all work hard to get to this point, and now that it's here, it's like "Okay, this is really happening!" It's exciting, relieving, scary, and happy all rolled into one big ball of emotion.

Any February Surgery Dates...
SHOTzY* replied to youngme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given a HUGE binder of detailed information and medical reasoning upon my very first visit in 5/14. They are very precise and very structured at my clinic. They make it clear that if you fail to be compliant with the concepts they set forth, they reserve the right to delay or dismiss your surgery if you simply cannot be compliant and as healthy as you can be. It may seem strict, but I respect my Bari team, and I believe they are there for me now and forever! Finding this forum has really helped me so much!! -
Any February Surgery Dates...
SHOTzY* replied to youngme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Bari program has a two week pre-op diet with 5 protein shakes a day with a list of soft protein foods you may have 6 servings of per day. If you have a bypass your hospital stay is 3 days. They advise against any nicotine, alcohol, or caffeine use before or after your surgery. They believe this is the healthiest way to be after your surgery. -
Hi Joni Lynn My bypass is on feb. 8th. Not exactly the same day as you, but I'm sure your excited, nervous, and ready to just get the "show on the road"! I know I am all of those things. Are you starting your pre-op diet anytime soon? I start mine this Sunday the 24th. I wish you and everyone that is a February surgery case the best of luck and great success ????

Post Surgery Foods You Can't Tolerate But Wish You Could
SHOTzY* replied to Cutwater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a huge binder that goes step by tedious step outlining my programs rules and foods after surgery. I want to be totally compliant, and it mentions eggs, fish, and vegetables at certain timeframes "IF" you can tolerate them. My program wants the individual to be on food only-no shakes-by around the 3 or 4th month. -
Post Surgery Foods You Can't Tolerate But Wish You Could

I thank you all for sharing your experiences with food post op. I have done nothing but research, ask hundreds of questions, and seek out those who have had bypass for information like this!! It is so helpful to me. I'm not post op yet-very soon. But I've started coming to this forum to read and learn. -
Any February Surgery Dates...
SHOTzY* replied to youngme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I start my semi-liquid diet this Sunday, the 24th. I am nervous, excited, worried. It's like a roller coaster ride. You go through so much to get to this point, you are afraid you will fail. I know this surgery is a tool; a tool to help me keep things under control and make the best choices. I'm happy about the Feb. 8th date for surgery, but my worries plague me. -
Thanks Spiceyfrog; yes, I've been taught at nutrition classes our program requires that BBQ sauce must be sugar free or homemade with no sugar added. I don't want to do anything that will cause me to become sick and get re-admitted to the hospital. ????

Thanks very much to everyone for the grilling advice ????. I was unsure if the grill marks or the smoked/charbroiled taste might make people nauseated or worse. I guess you really do just have to try things little by little and see how you do! Hopefully I will still enjoy very small portions of grilled and spicy foods.

Marijuana and Life after Bariatric Surgery
SHOTzY* replied to jadama22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm just curious to know if the program/dr or nurse practitioner said it was okay for you to use marijuana? I know my facility has a policy that states you can't and shouldn't use anything like that. -
