What's the every day difference? Band to bypass
RJC5197 replied to onmyway11's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Ditto Cindy I was banded 23 yrs ago and dealt with issues for a looooong time. The revision to RNY is the best I have felt, and I like starting to get my life back. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I am a little over 6 weeks out and NUT moved me to 800 calories a day, and to increase fats if needed. I am getting in about 100 grams a day of Protein, and 50 grams of carbs, 25 grams fat a day. My NUT did not indicate the amount of carbs to insure I continue to lose at optimum levels. I am ramping up my daily gym workouts, as well as getting back on the bike, so I need complex carbs for energy, but do not want to over do it. Any direction, or is this mostly an individual thing, and why NUT did not give any direction? THX

Calorie Question for Big Men at Six weeks-two months Out
RJC5197 replied to UpandAtom's topic in The Guys’ Room
I only started at 303, but have no problems getting in calories. The first 6 weeks I was avg about 600/day with getting 90 grams of protein/day. My 6 week visit my nut said I need to up my calories to 800/day, since I am becoming more active. I just ended a full stall, and loosing slower than at before, but will see what I need to adjust to. Note: My original WLS 20 yrs. ago I was 410 lbs skinny and never was directed to look at calories for first few months. I was much younger, so the weight melted off easier. I lost 270 lbs in 1 year. Best to you. -
I use both PB2 and another brand peanut powder. Love it in shakes, with cottage cheese, or yogurt.
-
I get it from GNC and on line. It is sold at no flavor as well as fruit punch or grape flavor.

Prefer using BCAA Amino powder mixed with Protein shakes right after workout. The powder does not have any sugar or carbs and provides any needed amino acids to support recovery. I see improved recovery when using it, especially after intervals or hard workouts.
-
I had no problem with taste changing especially with Proteins drinks, but I used many for years before WLS. My son had Sleeve WLS and was not a big fan of Protein powder shakes, and he had even more difficulties after surgery. He gaged them done because he had to. Everyone is different, so stocking up unless you really already like them, could be costly. Best to you

How about some NSVs!?!?

My pile of clothes that are now too big for me is growing, and getting bigger than the pile I plan to wear after I lose all my excess weight. -
Co-worker keeps trying to feed me.
RJC5197 replied to SilentBotts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not directly to me, but between all the different departments in my large plant, there is a big party going on everyday somewhere in the plant. Food, goodies and huge amounts of it. After bypass it no longer looks good, and luckily no foodie pushers yet. -
At 1 week out you are still on liquids, and even into pureed stage my stop point seemed unclear. I really never felt "Full" like others state they got. But once I went to soft and regular foods, it really changed. It is true to take small bites and chew well and take a while to eat. The pouch will start to fill and if we rush eating, we fill it before the mind gets the pain signal---BAM. As I progressed into solids, I learned even more to not eat distracted and SLOW Down. I have never yet been so full to throw up-and hope I never do, but have felt very uncomfortable for a few hrs. till the food passed. Enjoy the journey.

Insurance for revision from VBG to Gastric Bypass
RJC5197 replied to Chelsea Pedro's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Yes I had the same issues, and my Dr. said that was normal with VBG. That and opening became so small that a scope could not be put thru. That is the reason that VBG could not be fixed and RNY was the revision. This was advised to the Ins Co after initial request, and they approved right away. I am sooooooo happy with my RNY and all the issues from VBG gone. I have lost 54 lbs and feel really good. So many days a week before revision I was so tired due to throwing up and eating the wrong foods. My family is very happy as well, that they do not have to change plans due to me being sick all the time. -
Congrats, I have 5 days left on pureed foods, and looking forward to slowly adding solids/regular foods. Pureed is much better than liquid only, but many foods lose their appeal after turning them to mush in the blender.

He helped Luke Skywalker learn to manage the force, he should be able to help with weight loss. (Oops, Yoga not Yoda) I found when I was doing Yoga, it was a pretty good workout, and took me a while to get up to speed, but worked up a sweat, and it did help me stay more flexible as I did other workouts, without injury.

Go Pro Camera - does anyone have one etc.?
RJC5197 replied to Margie122's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I Love my GoPro. I use it mostly for biking, mounted to the bike, and use both movie and snapshot options. I do have the chest harness, and will us it more this Summer/fall on hikes. The different mountings makes it easy to attach to almost anything. But the pics and movies are memory hogs so I had to upgrade my computer that was 5 yrs. old to manage the pics/movies. -

10 Days Post Op Cooked Breakfast For Daughter
RJC5197 replied to chele367's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My kids were thoughtful and did not have a BBQ/cookout, but prepared everything at home and brought over to enjoy together. This allowed me not be around when all the goodies were being made, and concentrate on my lovely pureed food. I have 2 sons that had WLS sleeve, and they understand the early challenges, but they now eat almost anything they want.
