3 month post op, results... please share
RJC5197 replied to jccanada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 3 months out and lost a total of 70 lbs, from the start of my pre-op diet. 56 lbs. since surgery. I seem to feel that it is never fast enough, but I am really very happy with this progress. -
I am going on my 3 week of stall as well. The first week I saw myself getting smaller, but the last 2 weeks no change on scale or cloths. I have just cut my carbs from 30 to 20 a day to see if that helps, while boosting my Protein from 100 to 110. I increased my workout intensity a couple weeks ago too. Hope something happens soon. Need to know what week post op did you start ab workouts please
RJC5197 replied to VSG@50's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Ask your surgeon, but I was given no restrictions after 6 weeks. I am now at 10 weeks out. I too got the same back pains from weak abs, and working on abs slowly to eliminate them. I was surprised how weak my core got during the weeks after surgery. -

Thanks for the info from your previous post. I was not given any direction on probiotics, but will now be taking them, based on what I have read, from you and others. -

Amount of food @ 6 months Post Op....
RJC5197 replied to Thecloude1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
At 3 months out I can eat a cup of chili, and most other foods without feeling full. i eat no more since that is the max amount for calories for that meal. I had a revision and Dr said I have a normal size pouch, but I took this as a less sensitive pouch. I also never felt other than satisfied, never full or stuffed like others say they do, so I am glad I am not alone. -

I use them, and only see them in large bottles. I buy from Amazon or Torani directly. -
I stop losing weight... Please help.
RJC5197 replied to marmsphil's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I agree with James Marusek Stalls are so common that someone here coined the phrase "Embrace the Stall". I am 10 weeks out and just got out of my second one that lasted 3 weeks. My shape keeps getting smaller, and I feel better, just the weight loss is stop and go. I have learned to take it as part of the long term process, and now sweat the short term scale. -
Before WLS it increased my appetite and sugar cravings. I glad to drop diet soda all together. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My full stomach was removed for RNY and I only get head hunger or when I go too long and weak and need to eat. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

No Regrets at all. I feel the best in many years, and the lack of issues from WLS done 23 yrs. ago are gone, so I am really enjoying life even better than before that. I work with a person that her husband has RNY and regrets it, but he never followed the Dr. directions, and refuses to get help with his mental and physical problems, so WLS really was not given a chance and is really his problem directly.

Slower weight loss second time around?
RJC5197 replied to PaulStephens1975's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too am loosing at a slower rate than before. I had VBG 20 yrs ago and lost 230 lbs. Over the years I have gained back 130 and lost 200 several times. I am sure this has been a shock. But, even though my current loss with RNY is slower than before, I still see the scale moving, and weeks where it moves slow my cloths fit much looser and my health is so much better. We have to measure the whole package, and not just the scale, and never let that little dial discourage us. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Which Food Did (Or Will) You Miss the Most?
RJC5197 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I have just the opposite issue, and do not miss the junk, but my food world has opened up. Because of the VBG I had, I could not handle eggs, and many meats & other quality foods for years. My revision to RNY, has reversed that, and I replaced the junk food (I scream shakes, chocolate and others that would go down easy) with eggs and meats again, in moderation. -
Feeling shakey in the AM
RJC5197 replied to applejenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you run this by your NUT? I would think complex carbs or even a piece of fresh fruit would be much better than fruit juice. i agree that juicewould jump then crash blood sugar. i ate cottage cheese or yogurt b4 bed and for me helped -
I find the same feeling when I eat to fast/too much with something with sauces. (Even though I eat sugar free sauces) The sauces go thru faster if I do not concentrate on eating very slow, and bang, I feel it. Only happened a couple times, but really got my attention on not what to do.

I fully understand your frustration. I have to walk past a department that has the same food area constantly, and 3 snack machines to get to the Finance area in my plant. No way around it. Thankfully, after the coming back to work a couple weeks after WLS, my sugar cravings are gone, and these areas no longer have the strong magnetic pull they used to.

Feeling shakey in the AM
RJC5197 replied to applejenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe too little or no carbs, especially B4 bedtime? I had a hard time sleeping and waking up in middle of night, as well as feeling sluggish first thing. I found out that eating low carb does cause this. I added about 10 of my daily carbs with Protein as evening snack, and for me it made a big difference. This is my experience, but would suggest talking to your NUT.
