  1. Do not stress the scale if you are following the program. Our bodies are going thru a lot and Water gain and loss can be big swings. Best to not weigh more than 1 time a week or less at this time, and go by how you feel. Most times you will be getting smaller, even though the scale is not showing it. Get ready mentally now for slow downs, stalls and other parts of the journey. In the long run if we follow what we are to do, we will reach our goals. Good luck

    Easy perfect turkey

The last couple years I have been putting our turkey in a smoker, with apple or hickory chips. Moist and very tasty, I will not do oven turkey again

    Gaining

I am speaking from my past WLS years ago, and had same issue. After weight gain, I realized I stopped food tracking and planning, and backed off of sensible exercise. Once I got back on track, it came back off. Not till my past banding deteriorated so far, that I could not eat anything healthy like meats, veggies and fruits without getting sick, did the weight come back on and I could not stop it. (Also caused my immunity system to shut down) I suggest you honestly evaluate your full program, and find what is missing. Feel free to post here and we may be able to support in more details.
  4. Did a great workout before which helped, but also cutting out a little carbs to even out this weekend and increasing cardio a little I feel so much better today than I did yesterday. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  6. This WLS is a life long process. We just shift from loss to maintain modes. We must watch and manage our food and activity daily, else the two headed dragon of weight gain will catch back up with us very quickly. I sill have a short while to go till I hit maintenance, but know it will take a while to correctly dial in my diet and watch daily to insure I never fall back again. As a note: My son had sleeve 3 years ago, and stopped his diet management about a year ago, thinking he knew what was needed. He has gained back 30 lbs. and I hope he gets back on track before it gets too far away from him. Good Luck

    Quest Chips

I thought their BBQ flavors were not too bad, but some others were almost as bad as eating the bag they came in. Got any hamsters you can feed them to?

    Ostrim

I like the taste, but the texture is not my favorite. I was hoping for more of a jerky feel, and these are much softer. like a very fine ground meat texture.

  11. Have you tried the patches from PATCHMD? I only take Calcium orally, and only because I am not sure calcium will absorb thru the skin like other do,
  12. I was told years ago that when we make fat cells we never lose them. They grow with weight gain, and shrink with loss, but still there. If we have enough from being very heavy, we need to get out fat % down to lowest for our best, but if we have a lot, will never be stealth like those that never got heavy. This is why liposuction is used to remove the cells.

What do you do when you are exhausted?

Picking the right time of day for your best energy level helps too. I like first thing in the AM, because end of day I am mentally tired from work, and too much going on. Everyone is different, but it will get better as you get used to it and get in better shape. Just go slow to what your body says is OK, and enjoy it.

    Carbs..

I tried keto and kept carbs under 20 but with only 1000 or less cals a day, I stalled weight loss. After a few weeks I moved carbs back to about 60 a day and started losing again. I may have been eating too low cals, since I workout 6 days a week for 1 hr+ at a time. I liked eating keto, any feedback? Sent from my SM-T310 using the BariatricPal App

How did WLS effect your marriage...

Good Topic I have no main issues yet, but I am concerned. I had WLS (Vertical Band) 20 years ago and my wife was very supporting thru all the years of being sick on and off, especially the last 5 years of severe sickness and fast weight gains. My RNY has now eliminated all my issues, and I can now eat anything I want to (But choose not to) She sees no reason for me not to eat the normal fair she eats. She is also very overweight but will not make any changes, so the "Unhealthy Crap" is always in the house, and I am finding it more difficult to resist. I do not see it as a big game changer to the point of break down, just wish we could get on the same page, for our benefit, as well as our kids and G-Kids.

    Oatmeal or grits

I love oatmeal, )The rolled or 6 grain type), not instant. I am avoiding it right now due to the higher carbs, but when I get to goal, I will fit it into my meal plan again.
  18. My test results came back good so I will be staying with them and only need to take Calcium orally Sent from my SM-T310 using the BariatricPal App

    Patch VS. Pill?

I have been using Patches for a couple months and my lab results came back good. I am staying with them and only taking Calcium orally Sent from my SM-T310 using the BariatricPal App
  20. Stalls are a part of losing I seem to have a stall every few weeks, and although it is frustrating it is still overall loss I also just learned my thyroid may have issues since my PTH levels are high. And that may why I have so many stalls even with working harder to lose faster Sent from my SM-T310 using the BariatricPal App

    Quinoa

I do and as long as I count these carbs and Protein it has in my planned eating, I am fine. I eat Quinoa on a regular basis, and it does have starchy carbs, but I only eat it after workouts in the AM, and fibrous carbs from veggies the rest of the day, after protein is covered.
  23. Good luck I took slippers just in case, but they gave me very stylish non slip socks to use. (HA) Walking early and as much as you can make a big difference.
  24. Just tell them you have 4 starving children at home and have to save some for them. . . That should really get them talking?
  25. In the beginning weighing more than once a week or every couple weeks will just mess with your mind I did that and it drove me crazy When I scale less and track the slow periods and losses even out and is reasonable As long as we follow the plan the scale is more of a distraction Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
