Do you want premixed shakes, or recommendation on protein powder to make your own?
-
I use a teaspoon in every AM shake I make. It depends on your taste, but a tablespoon would be really strong. I also like PB2 powder at times as a flavor switch. I still take shakes daily because of my early AM workouts and then straight to work. Changing up flavors keeps it from getting boring.

Airport Security Curiosity

I have stainless screws in my hip and never set off the screening. I would be surprised if a few staples would do it. Did the Dr leave a few instruments in there? HA Do you have to supply your own white rubber gloves for the cavity check? -
I guess you are never too old to get on a bicycle.

I have ridden multiday 400 mile tours with men that are in their 80's, and they keep a solid pace each day. I am humbled by those that never give up and excel in the later years. -
Almost 4 years post op and I gained 20 lbs
RJC5197 replied to Nikki B's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My son had the sleeve almost 4 years out and has gained about 30 lbs. Mostly from no longer tracking and controlling his intake, and reduced regular exercise. Getting back to food type and qty control, with improved exercise will bring it back around. Good job to catch this early and working on it. -

I am so happy with how 2016 went. I had my revision from VBG of 20 yrs ago to RNY. I no longer deal with daily sickness and ammune system issues from years of struggle with VBG. I have lost 100 lbs, only 18 more to go, and fit in clothes I have not wore in 15 years. (32 waist, and medium shirts) I am the strongest and have more energy than I have in many years I am looking forward to 2017, rather than dreading another crappy vegetative feeling year. I wish the best to all on this forum, and thank you for your support this year.

If you look on line you can get Egg, Beef and Veggie proteins. I use both Egg and Beef proteins on a regular bases, but since I really do not have dairy issues still use Whey as well.

I have to get a new scale, and the Dr office does too. It has not shown any change in almost 4 weeks. . .they must be both broke. . . It cannot be me. . .

How has your family changed since your WLS?
RJC5197 replied to NWJill's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We too are empty nesters. We have really separated most of our meal prep and eating. My wife has made some small diet changes, but in general, does not follow the same healthy eating plan, so we pretty much make our own food. We do go out together a couple nights a week to break it up, but she refuses to eat lower carb or fat meals, like I do. I also plan my meals out multiple days ahead, and shop for them, so not to stray from my plan. Also, my tastes have changed some, and I now really enjoy spicy foods and some weird concoctions, to enhance nutrition and flavor. Most time my chili and other foods I make in larger batches, is not to my wife's liking. But it is working well for us. -

I have been using their product for about 4 months and up to now had no issues, till now. I got my last order and it was wrong, but my biggest concern is they are not responding to multiple phone messages or e-mails for well over a week. THX

Is it possible to build muscle after gastric bypass?
RJC5197 replied to Wasteoflife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. proper amount of Protein and carbs nutrition is important to support muscle gain. The amount is determined by the total maintenance cals you need each day, and some small increase to feed the muscles. (Based on your activity level) I recommend you look into nutrition plan and lifting plan and tailor it to you. I have been lifting the last few months, and now down to the last 20 lbs of fat to lose, so watching my eating and workouts closely. I use Tom Venuto "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" program, which gives me solid direction, but allows me to easily suit my needs for me, especially with limited eating volumes. We have special challenge to get in the calories we need to build. I used his program years ago, and it fits me well now. Good Luck. -
5 Hour Energy Protein Shots
RJC5197 replied to Redmaxx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very high in caffeine. I would check with your NUT. I was told no caffeine for a long time to insure proper healing. Since I had a revision, it may be never have caffeine again. -
So much calf pain after excessive walking and climbing
RJC5197 replied to trekker954's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I find as I get older that my muscles do not respond as before as well. When I am going to do anything more than I am used to, I have to stretch before and especially after to help, and most of all stay hydrated.
