    Vbg to RnY

I am having VBG to RNY revision May 17. VBG was done 20 years ago. I am having it done laparoscopic. All my Dr. asked is that I loose some weight to get as much weight out of my liver as possible. I am soooo looking forward to get rid of this damn band. Sorry you have to have open. May be due to too much adhesion or other issues? Good luck
  2. I just got call from Insurance and am now approved. It was a week ago Dr. sent in paperwork, and first round Ins said there is a 6 month wait. But after explaining my issues and need for revision soon, they quickly approved. Now just waiting for surgery date. Hoping for mid to late April.

    Can you eat chocolate?

I like the 80% dark chocolate with Cinnamon and Jalapeno's. it only takes a small bite to get the rich feel, the heat and satisfies my chocolate craving.
  4. Too funny to not pass on to others that take Protein shakes Gwyneth Paltrow drinks 1 shake every AM that costs $200.00/ea So glad I am not that exotic. I thought regular protein powders were costly. SERVES 1 ● 1 cup almond milk ● 1 tablespoon almond butter ● 1 teaspoon coconut oil ● 2 tablespoons vanilla mushroom Protein powder ● 1 teaspoon hair, Brain Dust to combat mental fogginess, Goodnight Dust when sleep has been evasive, Sex Dust, for, you know, and Spirit Dust to get that extrasensory perception going. ● pinch Himalayan sea salt ● pinch vanilla powder (optional)
  5. Update: I and Dr. talked to BCBS, and since my VBG cannot be repaired and no longer done due to complications, they will now only require a NUT visit and approve without delay. No 6 month wait period. Hot Dog..., getting rid of this band ASAP.
  6. At the beginning of the process I talked to my insurance company, Anthem BCBS of Michigan. They told me that there would not be a 6 month diet wait program requirement. With 40 BMI, revision I need for bad vertical band, and co-morbidities, my Dr. did not expect any problems either. Insurance just came back and said medical issues of band has nothing to do with WLS. If I was having band replaced, then they would approve now. But since I need revision to bypass, they want the 6 month documented weight loss trials. I have been admitted in hospital 2 times in last 4 months due to banding problems, and cannot see waiting another 6 months? Anyone else has this baloney? Any appeal on this that is possible? THX
  7. I love adding yogurt to my protein shakes. it thins the yogurt down, and makes the shake more creamy.
  8. THX My Dr. just advised that RNY is the only way he could revise my VBG, due to unable to make a sleeve without causing spots with low blood flow. I am expecting to get surgery in about 6 week and exited to get rid of this bad and all the crap I have put up with.

    Any bike riders out there?

I used to bike a lot B4 gaining more weightI used my road bike with no problems at 260 The seat will depend on what kind and distance riding you plan to do. For short rides on comfort bike the larger seat is OK. If you plan on road biking and longer rides, you will want a seat sized to you sit bones. If this is your direction, see a helpfull bike shop to guide you. Either way--enjoy--I love cycling Sent from my SM-T310 using the BariatricPal App

    Curious

Congrats. I cannot wait to get rid of my Vertical band and all the problems I have had for years. Did you have hard time eating with your band and now feel fee without the blockages when you eat? Why did you choose RNY? I am considering DS when I talk to the surgeon. THX
  11. Have you tried Powdered Egg Protein? I used to use it, but made shakes out of it with fruit and Water.
  12. THX LynnAlex I am in Jackson and look forward to getting back in the saddle again. My biggest concern was nutrition and ability to keep strength up for endurance rides. I have not done DALMAC or other longer organized rides in a few years due to my weight and look forward to going again.
  13. I am looking to have my banding revised to bypass in next couple months. When I was in shape, about 4 years ago, I used to love long distance road biking, 60 to 100 miles per day. I did have bad days due to my vertical banding, but overall found a sport I really enjoyed. I would like to do this again, after I lose my extra weight, but wondered if anyone that had bypass does the same and have any issues with eating or nutrition they have had. Or do I just plan on keeping my rides to much shorter distances? Thanks

    20 months out exhausted

Hope they can find out what is wrong. I had same issue about 3 years ago, and Dr. said they could not find anything, but I went from full activity, to barely having ability to get up and go to work each day. Due to my assistance, the Dr. did more testing and found I was positive for Barre Syndrome (Basically Adult Mono). There was no real cure for it but improved diet and slow recovery of my immune system. it took about a year for me to recover, but at least the severe tiredness went away.

    Mid life crisis after WLS

I had my VBG surgery at 35 and lost 230 lbs. Even though I had changed a lot, I had a very supportive Wife and family. I was able to spend so much more quality time with them after loosing the weight. But I agree, I did upgrade in clothes and physical activities that I thought were never possible since I was a kid. Now I need a revision and back within 90 lbs of my original weight, and kids are all grown up. Now it more for my health and to live longer.
  17. Can you advise update on how it went? I am looking into revision from VBG from 22 yrs. ago and hope all goes well with operation, as well as dealing with the Ins company approvals. It will be so nice to no longer be dealing with all the VBG problems for many years. THX
  18. I have banding from 22 years ago and been struggling with it, and constant weight gain and loss from just after 3 years after getting it. Until the end of last year I was told I had to put up with this, or only have band removed, but learned I can have revision to bypass and in process of having it done now. A new spring of hope has arrived, and thanks to all hear for your input.
  19. Thx I am having a revision done and looks like DS may be best option. Right now I am just starting the process, so will look to the Dr. for best options. I had Vertical banding 20 yrs. ago and went from 410 to 170 but started bouncing back within a couple years after that. Since then, I have I bounced between 200 and 300 several times, never being able to keep it off without severe diet and exercise that I could not maintain.
  20. "I'm new here and just had revision from sleeve to sips Dec 20" How long did you have the VSG before having revision? I am looking into the same and looking for what ever options & detail may be brought before me by the Dr.. THX
  21. I have had Vertical Banding done 20+ yrs. ago and dealt with issues for a long time, and just found something can be done. I am considering having DS done as a revision, but wondered if anyone else has done so with VBG from so long ago. THX
