    How much can you eat?

It really depends on how many fills you have had and how tight your band is. Most of the time I eat somewhere between 1/2 and 1 cup depending on the food. If it's soup, then 1 cup, if it's chicken then maybe only 1/4 a cup.
  4. I lost a whole size and went from wide width to regular in my shoes. My boobs left and I'm always cold now but I'm not complaining!

    Where is your port located?

My port is about an inch lower than my belly button and about 5 inches to the left. The actual scar is 3 inches long and my port is under the scar. You can feel it if you press on it but you can't see anything other than a straight across 3 inch scar.

    Clear Liquid Diet Question

Don't forget that you can have sugar-free popsicles too!

    Help! Im stuck!

What you can eat and the amount you can eat changes with every fill. You may no longer be able to eat bread, or it may be temporary. I think once you get stuck, your stomach or band gets irritated and there may be some swelling. Have only liquids for a day or so to let it settle down...then don't try whatever made you get stuck for a while.

    Confused with portion sizes

Ok so my doctor didn't allow me to eat solids for several weeks after surgery. I had 2 weeks of clears, 2 weeks of full liquids, 2 weeks of mushies and finally on to solids. Your stomach needs to heal! Don't push your boundries with the amount you can eat right now you could be harming yourself.

    HELP! Pre-op diet questions....

Just hang in there, you are doing great! Even after surgery I would easily go up and down about 3 pounds from one day to the next before the scale would finally settle down. Around that time of month it was not unusual for me to gain 5 pounds overnight! Keep up the good work!!

Am I making the biggest mistake of my life?

I think everyone is scared of surgery and has second thoughts. It's a big life change, but in a good way. I don't regret getting the band at all...I only wish I had gotten it sooner. Best of luck!
  11. It took me a couple of weeks to get my energy back after surgery. It has been my experience that after surgery you always THINK you feel ok then the slightest bit of over doing it just exhausts you. Are you getting enough protein in?

    I really need help deciding!

I too love sugar and have done fine with the band. The thing that really sold me on the band was the fact that if something went wrong it could be removed. You can't put back your intestines. Plus I know several people who had gastric bypass and have gained back all of their weight. Go with the band.
  13. I didn't really feel restriction like you are supposed to until my 3rd fill. The amount that you can eat and the foods that you can eat change with each fill. My weight loss tends to be a little sporatic rather than steady...everyone is a little different depending on your exercise and whether you cheat.
  14. Yep, put tiny portions on a very small saucer. That helps with the urge to finish. You could always go back for seconds if you have any room left.
  15. What you can eat changes with each fill, sometimes what you could eat easily before just won't work anymore. Also I've found that as you lose more weight the band gets loser and you are gradually able to eat a little more. It's an adventure!
