It certainly should be worth the trade off to be thin! One of my main motivations to do the band was to not get diabetes. I have a strong family history of diabetes and that's one thing I REALLY didn't want! Of course I don't want wrinkles either! My birthday is May 26th.

Hey, I'll be 53 in May and was just banded 1/11/08. I've been worried that as I lose my fat that I will develop more wrinkles and a floppy chin and start to look my age. Anybody else had worries like this? Or if you are further along, has it happened to you?

Hey, I'm glad to hear from someone else in my area too. I was very pleased with Dr. Groves. He even prayed with me before surgery!

Hi, I was banded Jan 11, 2008 in Boaz Al by Dr. Groves. Blue Cross covered my surgery but I had to first go to a Lap Band seminar, then have a doctor's supervised diet for 7 months. I also had to have a physical theraphy consult and go to a nutrition class and provide medical records for the past 5 years. I think it really depends on your particular insurance on whether they require all of that stuff. I do know that if it is self pay the surgery cost is $15,500 at Dr. Groves. Hope that helps.

This is my very first posting ever! I just had my surgery on Jan 11, 2008 so I am still in the recovery stages. I'm on clear liquids and have been surprised at how very weak I have been feeling, just no energy at all. I'm really looking forward to the creamy liquids diet! Good Luck!
