Anyone had severe band tightness after TT?
ellen1224 replied to ellen1224's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Good luck with your upcoming TT you will love it !! I just saw my lap-band Dr. 2 months after my TT and I asked him if it was normal to feel tighter after a TT. He said it is very possible as the PS could have tightened the muscle around the stomach area leaving less room for expansion..... -
Has anyone tried ProJoe by Bariatric Advantage? They are sold in glass bottles like Starbuck's Frappuccino's and they come in Mocha, vanilla, and Chai flavors. I don't like most Proteins so I am wondering if these are any good. You have to order a case of 12. Thanks.

Kate's "The Works" special
ellen1224 replied to general_antiope's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hey Kate - Sorry you are having such trouble with itching. I just had a tummy tuck and breast lift on 12/17, and I am also having a lot of itching. My doctor suggest an antihistamine, so I have been taking benadryl, it seams to help. Hope you get some relief soon! -
Anyone out there who lost slow at first and ended up successful?
ellen1224 replied to headin_to_mxico's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi! I was a slow loser. I started out at 285 and it took me 3 years to loose 135 lbs. I am now at 150. I lost very slowly for at least the first 1 1/2 years, then the weight just started coming off. I felt like a failure for about the 1st year. Just try to relax, follow the rules and don't make weight loss your life's focus....it will happen. Good Luck. -

Thanks, and yes I have thought of that. Though my lap-band Dr. has a great reputation for being the best at bariatric surgery, I haven't heard great things about his plastic surgery results, so I have been reluctant to ask :-) ! -
Try dried/powdered refried beans, they taste a million times better than canned. I get a brand Santa Fe Bean Co, but I can only find them on Amazon.com, Albertsons use to carry them but not now.

Waking up with last nights dinner in your throat
ellen1224 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am wondering if this is happening to anyone else.... every once in a while I will wake up in the morning to find that some of last nights dinner is still in my upper pouch. Does this happen to anyone else? What do you think it means? Am I eating too much or not chewing enough? I am 3 years out and have lost 125 lbs, I would hate to have anything go wrong now ! -

But do look honestly at an unfill if you think at allt hat you may be a bit tight. Do you really think I might be too tight, I haven't had a fill in 6 months can it get tighter as you loose weight? -

I live in Pacific, I had my surgery in 8/06, I have lost 125lbs, but I need to loose the last 30ish. I haven't really exercised and I would love to find someone to help keep me accountable. I would love to find someone to walk/work out with in the evenings. Let's motivate each other ! -

August 2006 - Running totals and updates
ellen1224 replied to faybie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just found this forum. A few years late :-). I was banded by Dr. Oh 8/17/06, as of yesterday I am down 115.3 pounds ! -
My best compliment came from a cashier at a store. I used a credit card and she asked for ID. I gave her my driver's license, she looked at it and looked at me and said this can't be you... you aren't even half that size !
-
Yes, I have experienced the same thing. I have been banded about 2.5 yrs and lost 115lbs, I would like to loose another 30. Back in December I had the same problem, cough, coking, spitting up at night. I had to have a slight unfill also. It's better now unless I eat to much or too late at night.
-
I would do it again, I would first find out more information about the gastric sleeve, you can look up the procedure on the website, just to have more options. But I am very happy, I have lost 120 lbs in 2.4 years with very little trouble. Good Luck
-
I have had my band for 2 1/4 years, and I just started having the same issues. Waking up at night choking even though I quit eating at 6:30 pm. I had a slight unfill to try to correct the problem and it worked a little bit, I sure wish I had been given the sleeve as an option to the band. Good luck !
-
Can I ask why you are having a revision to the sleeve....I am considering it also.
-
Yes, I have experienced the same thing, I have had my band for 2 1/4 years. Try the suggestions from HeatherO, if this doesn't help then you probably need a slight unfill. I actually ended up having to have and EGD and the doctor found a large piece of undigested food in my pouch that would block my band opening (I think it is called the stoma) at night and cause me to cough and choke at night. So I would say definitely talk to your doctor about it as soon as you can. It is probably nothing and not eating after 7pm may be all you need to do! Good Luck !

Look up Dr. Oh at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way Washington (just south of Seattle). I am a self pay also, and it cost me around $14k in 2006. Dr. Oh is very good, and is a Center for Excellence surgeon. -
