As the time for my surgery gets closer, I get more excited but also nervous. I have been going through my house and cleaning like crazy so while I am recouping I won't feel like my house is a mess. Anything else you can recommend as I prepare for my surgery? How did you deal with some of your fears? Melanie

Any other sleevers have PMR (Polymyalsia Rhuematica?
mdawncooper replied to iwillbeachitagain's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much for this post. I have Lupus and Fibromyalgia and deal with a lot of pain. In the last month and a half I have started having severe pain in my shoulders. I was looking up your disease and when I did I realized those are my exact symptoms. I am waiting until after my surgery to see a new rheumatologist but at least I have something to ask about. As you are very aware, these diseases lead to a lot of guessing and I just want answers about what is going on. Would you mind telling me your symptoms and how it was diagnosed. I am not on prednisone but I am sure I will be taking pain meds up until the surgery unless they tell me to get off of them. -

Anesthesia......
mdawncooper replied to aprilnicole's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The nice thing about anesthesia is they normally give you some feel good "cocktails" before you go to surgery and this helps with the anesthesia anxiety. I too worry but have done it several times and the "cocktail" always helps me relax. Good luck! We can do this. -

Mine is March 3rd. Right now that seems like forever but I know it will get here quickly. I am excited but also very nervous. I have been reading everything I can and I am already looking into good Protein supplements, etc. We can do this. -
How do teachers do when they return?
mdawncooper posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As my sleeve gets closer I am excited but nervous. My principal is very aware of my surgery and is super supportive. I am doing my surgery on Thursday before Spring Break. I know I will not be quite ready to go back on Monday after Spring Break but I am wondering if I should plan on the whole two weeks? I teach 2nd grade and my classroom is active. Any teachers out there who can give me thoughts and tell me what they did? Thanks in advance. -
How many days off work ?
mdawncooper replied to Amayor85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your ideas. I went ahead and planned my sub to stay for the week after Spring Break too. It looks like even if I go over my days I can use the act that allows you extra days for surgery at little cost to your paycheck. -
How many days off work ?

I teach too and I chose to tell my principal. She was super supportive and told me that I wasn't coming back until my doctor cleared me so we will see what happens. She is an awesome boss and she wants me to truly be ready to come back. -
I am new here and just had my consult today and set my surgery date. I will be getting the sleeve done on March 3rd. I teach school so I am trying to not be off from work too long. This date works into my spring break holiday. Many of you have mentioned going on a liquid diet before surgery. I know I will be getting more information but is this normal or is this just because your insurance is requiring it? Thanks in advance for the help.

Thank you everyone. I was told today no preop diet required. When I go in the Friday before that may be updated though. I am just rolling with whatever comes.
