My sister in law just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy this past Monday. She was banded long enough to have lost 50 or 60 pounds. Her baby is just beautiful. Good Luck! -
First fill coming up...scared
texasgal2008 replied to bibo07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I had my first fill one week ago today. I was nervous, scared, excited! You name it, I felt it! It was NOTHING! The only thing I felt was this funny sensation when the fluid traveled thru the tube. But hurt???? nO WAY! and they numbed me first then did the solution! It was a piece of cake!! So don't be nervous! -
I am 51 and have had a major problem with constipation all my life. I am 2 weeks post op and I have found a great solution for this problem. We are allowed sugar free pop cycles so I started buying the sugarfree fruit bars and they work like a charm. They have about 30 calories apiece. I have to eat a few of them but they kick in and keep me regular. Hope this works for you

HELP! Started mushies today.....
texasgal2008 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Help! I started the mushy diet today and I am still not feeling any restriction. I am worried something is wrong. I ate some pudding and some mashed potatoes for lunch and it went down very smoothly! Is this normal? I keep waiting to feel a lump in my chest, but nothing happens. Can you help? I am a self pay and if something goes wrong I don't have another $10,000 to do it again. -

What Does This Mean??
texasgal2008 replied to azchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It means that someone who has been banded is having a very hard time due to some kind of problem related to the band! All of us who have had it easy should be very thankful. -

Yeah! I had my surgery on Tuesday and here it is Saturday and I am starting to feel like my old self! I am one of those unfortunate people that happen to be allergic to all narcotics and have to take the drugs with benedryl! Yuck...makes me feel terrible. But I have been on only Tynelol since Thursday and today I feel human again. I have to be on a two week full liquid diet. I had a protein shake this morning and a pop cycle just now. But this is my question for all of you.......I really can't tell the band is there. I know it is not tight right now, but I expected to HAVE to take very small sips but I find that my sips are not small unless I am thinking about it. Is this ok? Here is another question for you....when does the swelling start to go down? Thank you...I have so many questions running thru my head!

I would love to have a buddy also! I am VERY NEW to all of this! do you think we could help each othr?

texasgal2008 replied to tink128's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only a few days post op, but I have not experienced any gas pains at all. i came home from the hospital and walked and have walked everyday since . I just got back from a 30 min walk. I also took gas x strips everyday too. Hope you feel better soon. Take care of that infection! -
Hello...my name is Julie and I am scheduled for surgery this Tuesday. I was just told by the husband of-one-who-has-been-banded that during the surgery that instead of being on a table you are actually laying on a bean bag. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I don't mind being stark but on a bean bag????? Might be just a tad uncomfortable? Can anyone help me with this?

How about that Valentine's Day Liquid Diet???
texasgal2008 replied to minock's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also on the pre-op liquids. Isn't it fun? My husband does NOT want me to have this surgery and has expressed this opinion several times. But guess what he bought me for Valentines Day?????? a JUICER!! I thought that this was one of the most thoughtful gifts he has ever given me. I was very touched! -

Pix..I sure hope you are right...but he did not sound like he was yanking my chain. It is nice to hear that you didn't have to do this! Thank you for telling me. -
Please help! I went to the dr. today to set up lap band procedure. I need to loose about 80-90 pounds. Since I am self-pay he suggested the gastric sleeve. Can anyone give me advice on this? My research says that it is generally used on people who have 500lbs or so to loose and is part one of a two part process. He said his suggestion for this was based on the fact that I don't have insurance and if the lapband slipped then I would have to pay to have surgery redone. Can anyone give me advice?

can you tell me what would have happened if the diet would not have fixed it? would you have had to repay the whole amount for surgery?
