I had Lapband surgery 1/20/2009 at 265 pds and it's been a journey of ups & downs on the scale & emotionally also. I lost close to 50 pds thru the years but put it all back on. I kinda was thinking I failed this journey & that my Lapband wasn't the answer after all Well 2015 was the worst year in my life, my sister died then my mother in law died too, so I found my self eating to console myself. So my weight went up even more. Well I stopped that in August 2015, I started weight watchers online. I just didn't want to be in a meeting couldn't handle that commitment at that time. I hadn't been to my Lapband Doctor since March 2014 & I was afraid to go. Well I received an appmt card from him in November 2015 stating he had made me an appmt for Jan 2016 so I had to go. So I went today very scared that he would be upset & know that I failed the Lapband but that didn't happen what I realized by talking to him that life happens & I didn't fail as I was 218pds today which is still 47 pds less than when I had the surgery 2009 & when I was in his office in 2014 I was 233 pds so I was losing. So you see it's never to late to get back on track ????????

After trying to get a copy of this document from a member & getting no response I'm sad to inform everyone the reason for no response is it appears tomander passed away a few years ago. I went to the Internet to search for his document thinking he shared it with so many it might be out there. Well I was successful !! So here it is. Thank you Tomander !!! Egg Timer Distraction Do you really want a snack? Countdown to less snacking.... Egg Timer Distraction: (make sure your egg timer has a bell on it)Try not to eat a large meal past 7:00 p.m… allow yourself an evening snack but if you really want something try this first… When you feel hungry after 7:00 p.m. set the egg timer for 10 minutes- When the timer goes off there is a chance you may have forgotten you were hungry- After the egg timer goes off the first time and if you’re still hungry... drink an 8 to 10 ounce glass of Water... then set the egg timer again for 10 minutes- If the egg timer goes off the second time and you still want a snack... drink another 8 to 10 ounces of water... set the timer again for 10 minutes- If on the third time your still hungry have a snack but make it a healthy snack... I eat a lot of cold turkey... I keep in cut up in the fridge and have it as an evening snack I also eat a lot of cut up veggies now... I was never a veggie eater before really but now enjoy them with a homemade dip The egg timer method really worked for me... Give it a try… you never know it may just work for you.

I had my surgery no problems but i was off work for awhile due to recovery time. A lot of pain i will let you know that, but i have no regrets & I'm still working towards my goal weight. I found people who aren't in your shoes don't understand how we feel. Do what you need to do for yourself. Best of luck i know you will do great!!!!

Where about in florida are you? Im near Tampa.

I looked it up & it appears to be a combination of gastric & banding. I watched the whole procedure on video. I think its just a matter of evolving to the next level of better banding. It made sense to me.

You should be able to have it removed by lapo surgery & no issue with the band. Im surprised they didn't remove it when they did your band??

Regretting This/Red Zone or just not following the Rules?/worried about slippage/ discouraged :-(
DeborahDav replied to Butterfly512's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I believe so, I would think if it slipped you would be in pain & have other symptoms. The fact that you felt the need to stop is a good sign. Just eat really slow, chew chew chew don't drink anything with a meal. When I 1st got my band I got sick & threw up all the time, it takes time to teach yourself -

Try doing some protein shakes for 2-3 days only Then try eating some chicken for dinner only on the 2nd or 3rd night, eat really slow, chew really well see how it does. This gives your banded stomach time to settle down, the go get a fill but not as much as they took out. Take it slow. -

Your band is too tight, have the doctor remove some of the fill. Make sure you chew, chew, chew & chew more -

I know exactly what you mean & feel I had my Lapband done 1-9-2009 lost about 50 pds then I started having problems band to tight to eat so adjustment after adjustment I finally just had it completely emptied and kinda gave up. Then Jan of 2015 I started over, had a small fill and I did well till July when my sister passed away so I put some of the weight back on. I haven't been back since March of 2015, but I have lost some. Tomorrow I have an appmt with my doctor to see where I stand. I think I have about 70 pds more to lose, not sure if I will get a fill or not. But this time I'm using weight watchers to log my food or I just got a Fitbit & it can log my food. I am very nervous to see my doctor tomorrow, wish me luck!!
