Self pay and could cry over the amount, couple of questions
because replied to mmorris4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
12,000 for everything. In Kansas City. -
My ex husband came by today and brought doughnuts for the kids. It was 11:00 am. I did not care about the doughnuts because they are not my poison, its just that some people are insensitive jerks, hence the "ex" part. Keep your chin up and rise above. Honestly since I have given up on sugar I don't crave it. I'm gonna keep it that way! [emoji4]

Veterans - What Size are You After Weight Loss?
because replied to careya123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was a 11-12 about 18 years ago at 145 pounds. I've got big bones and even with weighing 145 my hip bones stuck out and I was thin. My bones will not be getting smaller... I accepted long ago that I fit in higher sizes for my weight and that is okay. I still looked good. (5'7" btw) we all have different body shapes and sizes I would hate for a young person (I'm 40 btw) to think they have to get into a specific size. So far the responses have been great, I just wanna put out there that size is a number, look at the "for real" you In the mirror and go by that. My downfall was always comparing myself to my stepsister. She is 5'4" and 4 years older. We wore the same size when I was 12 then I grew. I could not compare to her but I did it all the time. I was never good enough but you cannot change genetics, I was taller, had a larger bone structure, and boobs. So again, look at you, love you, and be okay with where you fit. As far as those low numbers you are all wearing, I'm jelly, but I'm super happy for you. What an accomplishment! I (hopefully) will be rocking size 12's in a year! And I will be happy for me! -
Awesome. I have my before's just need some afters. [emoji12] only 2 weeks out...I will get there though!

I was in an awful marriage for 13 years to a sociopath. Our beginning was swift, every sign pointed to us being made for each other. That's their ploy, they feel the same and make it seem that you are perfect and made for each other. That is until they have you. Then slowly they rip away freedoms, self worth, self confidence. Slowly, so you don't notice them disappear. You no longer become "good enough" and everything is your fault and your responsibility if something goes bad. With extensive ghost lighting you question reality and become a victim and see no way out. You are trapped. And they make sure you question whether you could even make it on your own. Honey, I left that man a year and a half ago and never looked back. I am just coming to my own and am two weeks out from my sleeve. I'm finally working on me and love me again because I am an awesome person! If this sounds like your situation. Find an opportunity (first disability check) and go! Life is too short to try and make someone happy who's only joy is the manipulation and misery of others. God does not want that for you and maybe he was put in your life to give you the warning to not get caught up in the trap again. My next Husband will love me as much as I love him or he will not be my husband. Sorry this is so long. I just hear you saying the same things I would say about myself when I was with my ex. His reflection is distorted and you need to see through Gods eyes. You are beautiful and the sleeve can only make you healthy. You are already worthy of love and affection!

Just talked to my surgeon, (two week post op) knowing my lower belly will not snap back (3 kids saw to that) I'm going to rock my plan because they will do surgical skin removal for 5,000. I was self pay because insurance does not cover SWL. They won't cover skin removal either. $5,000 is nothing compared to other places. See if your surgeon has a deal. [emoji4] good luck.

I'm claustrophobic and have no choice. I'm just looking forward to climbing up and not being out of breath. I noticed a difference today at my post op appointment! Woo Hoo, it's the little things! Keep hitting those stairs! Maybe sometime we will meet.

Did anyone not have a drain?

Well said, I'm a teacher and see the same stuff but what you say is true, it's new to someone and a great refresh to those of us that should "know better". Funny thing is, at 40 I get different stuff out of the same material. Different stages of life give new light to old subjects. Just my experience. [emoji4]

Yum! Hot coco! I've got those proteins, guess what I'm having later today? ???? glad I found this 2/9-for life!!! ???? I'll always remember this day as the day I finally took control of my life. ????

I had to pee too right out of the hospital. Sleeved last Tuesday, home since Wednesday. I think it's the IV fluids. After the first night home the flow slowed down a great deal. Liquids are still a slow go for me. I get stopped by a rippling cramp and a burp. My signal to slow down. Kind of feel like a baby learning how to eat all over again. Grateful for this! ???? Good Luck!

First, what a Beautiful family!!!! Second, you are my hero, you look fantastic! In inspiration! Thank you! I am only 6 days out but I have hope that my hard work will be rewarded. -
I left my husband over a year ago. He was a sociopath. Any mention of surgery and I was belittled and told it would never be an option. Was sleeved 2/9/16. I'm feeling great and can now lose more weight then just him from my life. One thing I realized is, if I lost weight when I was with him, he would lose control of me. His manipulation consisted of subtle pulls on my low self esteem. Just making this choice to have the sleeve gave me a jump in confidence. I would have undermined his whole reason for being with me. Side note: His true character showed when a month out from our separation he was living with a 21 year old. He was 37. (She is young enough to not see his love comes with strings) sometimes the crap in our lives is, in retrospect, is a true blessing! If he can't be with you, then he CAN'T be with you! Let this be a fresh start. You are doing the right thing this,to me, sounds like him manipulating you. There are men out there that don't manipulate women or give ultimatums especially when what is being done is for the loved ones best interest. My advice (based on my experience only) is to push on, don't put off the surgery. Find your voice and love yourself enough to embrace this gift. If he comes back only take him if HE is worthy of YOU, and not the other way around. Take care!

Sleeved on the 9th. Doing great! Still a little pain especially when i cough but other than that recovering well. Honestly I was in shock for the first few days, couldn't believe it was done! ???? From the time I first talked to the surgeon to the surgery was three weeks. Self pay puts you on the Fast track for sure! Now is healing and re-learning how to eat. How is everyone else doing?

I have a complete aversion to exercise--rant
because replied to LEILE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also loathe exercise. Walking I can do, and is the lesser of all evils, just Boring!!! Then, I went with a friend to planet fitness. I fell in love with the circuit room. 30 min workout where you are switching gears every two min or so. OMG, I found my "thing". It was not exercise that was the problem, it was my ADD. I need change and so far I never get board and by this time I get to the middle my heart is pumping, my face is sweating and I'm feeling great. At only 10$ a month I'm hooked. Running, elliptical's, and weight training by itself is not for me. Also the atmosphere at planet fitness is one of people getting healthy, not showing off. It really is a judgement free zone(says it on the walls) one perk, you can bring a friend for free. Best way to do it! good luck! -
When will I stop burping?
because replied to jhbeck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 days out and I think that is my full alert. Or drinking too fast. I slow down drinking and it goes away. I stop eating when the ripple gurgle burp happens. About 5 baby spoons of creamed soup. Even if I wait that is all I can hold. I was a volume eater so this was a real shock, but no hunger balances this. -
Lactose intolerant and sip able protein shakes

Keep it up girl. Lactate pills sound promising... ???? -
Had my surgery yesterday I was exhausted! Could not even play on my phone. Slept all day off and on, not even interested in TV. Today I'm home and feeling fine. Uncomfortable and rough when I get up, but it is all worth it. Three full weeks after meeting with the surgeon and I'm done. What was excitement is now shock! ????I really did it. I'm unstoppable!

If you hair is thin I would suggest getting a wig. There is no shame in it and personally I would rather ware a wig for several month rather that continue at my weight. Ps there are some good wigs out there. Good luck!

Sugar, sugar, sugar and the liver reduction diet.
because replied to Lucrezaborgia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, so let us talk about coffee. I went off coffee almost a week before my liquid diet and the caffeine withdraws were hell and I wish I had stopped sooner. Keep that in mind. Mostly the headaches were bad! The liquid diet has been awesome. I'm taking Quest protein shakes (Hy-Vee ) and they are delish! No sugar but still sweet tasting, high protein and low carb. The truth, There will not be any coffee after. At least during the healing, it is an irritant. I like mine with cream and sugar too but I am going to move to stevia and maybe almond milk. It might just be something You need to give up for better health. I know this is not what you want to hear and a lot to take in but sometimes a little time is what we need to make the permanent changes to make this work and wrap our heads around them. Good luck! ???? -
