Anybody dislike their surgeon?
Joann454 replied to hermione53's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wtf?!! Glad the NP is awesome though. Sheesh! -
Maybe you could still eat what most surgeons recommend. That won't hurt you either. I too live in a very small town. Every appointment in an ordeal. My psych consult gave me names of therapists who specialize in eating and each one was over an hour away. So you'll have to decide if you really want this sleeve to be the tool it is supposed to be and help it with other tools. If you can't make long drives for consult then I really suggest following what most surgeons recommend and doing some reading. I am not berating you and I hope it doesn't come off like that. Just hate to see you go through all this just to sabotage yourself. It's not too late to reverse your thinking.

October 2016-Surgery Date. Where are you now?
Joann454 replied to Sleevie1981's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How many calories and carbs are you eating on average? Have you followed up with a NUT? was the bulk of that weight lost in the beginning or are you steadily losing even if it's slow? -
These were all so helpful. I know individual tastes vary so getting the starter pack seemed like the way to go. I did get the big chocolate because of the reviews. What I'm using now is not great. It's ok but I know in time I won't be able to drink it because it's just meh and I just started it.

I had to drink some special tart liquid, and 15 minutes later blow into bag. It was no biggie but I had the test a month ago so that if they started me on antibiotics it wouldn't have interfered with surgery timing. I was negative tho. Seems odd that they'd do it so close to surgery. Hopefully you're negative and don't have to worry! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Surgery may 2nd mini sleeve
Joann454 replied to tiffany44641's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've never heard of this! Must google it! super loose pants and shoes you can put on without having to bend over. Skip the bra i had outpatient gallbladder surgery and that's all I needed. Oh and a little pillow for your tummy on the ride home. -
For those that have had both the sleeve and gallbladder removal, which hurt more? Were they similar pain wise? I had my gallbladder out and it hurt way more than I was expecting! My dad was at the store two days after his and off pain meds, I was barely able to roll over after two days. Could it have just been my surgeon? What I really want to know is what the pain level was compared to your sleeve. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I have a low pain tolerance for sure. It's funny because I used to think I had a high one. Not so much. Luckily we have access to medicine that makes recovering so much more tolerable. My gallbladder surgeon prescribed me one 5mg hydrocodone every 8 hours. Hello? That was like taking a baby aspirin for me! I was miserable.

I'm starting to really think it's the surgeon and other variables like maybe the size or either the gallbladder or liver. Crossing my fingers that my surgeon is gentle. Thanks for the response, even if it's not what I wanna hear. 😐

PRE-OP AND MORE SCARED THAN EVER!

I'm so sorry. That's scary! I'm sure they will make that call for you. I don't have a lot to add just wanted to wish you luck. -
That's what I was hoping to hear! I hope my sleeve surgeon is more gentle than my gallbladder surgeon. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Congrats! I'm still waiting but truly enjoy watching people's journeys. Please post an update. Best of luck and I hope to be as peaceful before surgery as you are!

I have Hashimoto's disease as well. Diagnosed in 2005. I have ballooned since then. It's horrible. I only feel good if my TSH is under 1. Luckily my primary understands and lets me hover around .5 This thread was fantastic to read. Very encouraging! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
