  1. So true. Low fat low calorie is a miserable plan for me. Low carb has always helped me far more. I too had a cupboard full of low fat low cal cookies etc. I lost very little weight doing that and I was always hungry.
  2. I have a question. When you say "dense protein" is that meat and fish as opposed to protein shakes?
  3. I was just curious if anyone was on medication for these issues and now no longer has to take them. I'm on atenolol 12.5-prevastatin 20 and while I'm not on medication for diabetes, I was headed that way (pre diabetic).
  4. My Dr did say that cholesterol and bp would depend on genetics. Fingers crossed. Still. The numbers your numbers are down so that's good news.

four and half months post op

How many carbs do you eat a day?
  6. I'd bet your mom is right! How old is your dad? Those are great results!
  7. That's amazing! You must feel wonderful!
  8. Wow!!! That's amazing! What an inspiration! Do you mind if I ask how much weight you lost?

    A1C

This is so exciting! My A1C has been creeping into the prediabetic levels so I'm hoping surgery will correct it.

    Recovery timeline?

Try to think of the bigger picture. You may miss a game or two but being able to be there for her wedding and possibly your grandchildren is a much bigger deal. It's not selfish to want to live longer and healthier!

    Started the liver shrink today!

What are they requiring you to do for the diet? Thanks and same to you!

    Any May Sleevers?

I started it today. So far it's ok. I have issues at night though. Started practicing chewing my food thoroughly. Weaning off caffeine too. It'll all be worth it in the end!

    Started the liver shrink today!

    Great! I will try that!
  14. Oh yes. I have almost backed out twice. I'm two weeks from surgery and the nerves are kicking in hard! Can't wait for it to be behind me! Don't back out! It's scary but remember why you're doing it. Oh I also went to success stories and read all about how much happier and healthier people are. It helped a lot. Good luck!

    Any May Sleevers?

Best of luck! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Where do you see yourself Long term

I hope I'm living the same life I'm living right now just healthier and more energetic. I retired early, have a small farm in the mountains and married the love of my life a few years ago. Being healthier would just be the cherry on top of a wonderful life.

Where do you see yourself Long term

Yeah. Avoiding death is a good goal.
  18. That's comforting to me. I never understood why this happened but it does make sense (not to diminish folks who have been through horrific events that caused PTSD). At least if it hits this time I'll have some knowledge as to why. Might help to push through it.
  19. Maybe so. It's a big deal and pretty traumatic. I hope it passes quickly for you though.
  20. When was your surgery?

    Me too!

    Levinox injections

It's better for me when someone else does it. I totally get that! The risk of thinning your blood to a dangerous level is much lower than the risk of developing a clot. Once you have a clot you'll be on blood thinning meds for a minimum of six months. So these few shots could potentially save you months of Coumadin (not to mention the weekly blood draws to make sure your blood it in range). Gotta think long term. It's a dangerous thing to roll the dice with. I NEVER thought I'd develop a clot, yet here I am. Anyway I'm not trying to lecture you just trying to help you be safe.

    Still stuck!

This whole thread was great to read. I'm post op but trying to absorb everything and prepare mentally for the challenges. If you don't mind me asking, why were you depressed after surgery? Was it related to the sleeve (feel free to tell me to mmob). I've read a couple of posts where people stated they were depressed or sad after surgery.

    Sleeve and PCOS

I only wish I had this surgery so young. Will insurance cover it with such a low bmi?
  25. Ok. Nobody talked to me about hormonal changes. Any time I've had surgery I'm emotional after. I have no idea why. It's weird and I've literally laughed while crying because I feel ridiculous. Hope the good days are frequent and the bad decrease.
