  1. You should pass if it's a blood test. I passed after four days of abstinence.

    VENTING - can vs should

I've been involved in enough Facebook political posts to have developed very tough skin. I have a lot of empathy but also a short fuse for stupidity. I don't see myself changing so more often than not I just won't respond to a post where someone is clearly attention seeking. People are weird. That's why I live on a farm in the country
  3. I had no CO2 gas pain after surgery. I wish the same for you.
  4. I didn't weigh myself once during preop. I knew I was doing what I was told. Surgery morning they weighed me and I had lost 15 lbs. if you're following what they say don't worry about anything else.

    One week-Post op- HELP!

Any food item that has a sweetener that ends in "ol" makes me sick as a dog. There went me tasty sugar free pudding. I worry you might be dehydrated from all the diarrhea.

How much you can eat ?

You just keep losing steadily. It's been fun for me to watch your signature line. Congrats!

    VENTING - can vs should

Lol! The last line cracked me up. I understand what you're saying. The internet can be a cruel place. Take what ya need and...we'll you know.

    Regret

Yeah, I go back and forth with this. I had surgery 5/22 and I find myself feeling hunger and the desire to eat something warm and to chew. I don't even know how I would've prepared for this phase beforehand. Im just trusting in those before me that eventually, when we can eat, it gets better. I have made food my "go to" for everything. I know I can taste or have a few bites of favorites once in a while (if I choose) eventually. So I'm not going to focus on being sad about not eating again. I know I can. Even though I knew in my head what this would entail I had no idea what it would actually feel like. It's a huge change. I'm using this phase to work on changing my attitude with food. From preop to now, none of this is "easy" but we can and are doing it.

    Big Day Tomorrow!

Yeah, gotta love IV fluids! So glad it's behind you. It's just the biggest relief to be on the other side after all the build up. Congratulations on a smooth (ish) surgery. Now to heal!
  10. The lowest she got was 170. She's about 220 now and has been for a long time. She can drink and eat anything now. She started at 350 so it's still great for her and without surgery she believes she'd be close to 400.

    Pre-Op Feelings

Purchase all your vitamins and organize them and write up a schedule to take them. I also bought a honkin' pill holder. I didn't practice sipping and I've had no issues. Gulp once and your stomach will let you know. I also didn't practice chewing. I have five weeks till I can chew and figured I'd be out of the habit anyway. I did buy tiny plates and baby spoons for the time. I use the spoons with my yogurt now. When you're home and on the liquid phase you'll have plenty of time to read what your food phases will be. Oh, do get a digital food scale of you don't have one. You'll both be just fine.

On my own on surgery day.

Been thinking of you. Hope you did ok.
  13. Hi Terri! It's not too late. If you change your mind just tell your Dr why you changed your mind. This is your body and you have to do what is best for YOU. What made you choose RNY in the first place?

    Vitamin Gummies.

    No gummies allowed here either.

    Full liquid vs puréed

Oatmeal sounds so good to me right now. I'm on full liquids for three weeks. Ugh. I hate chicken broth and have no other warm/savory options. I'm eating a Dannon light & fit Greek toasted coconut vanilla. Yummy! I'll survive, just craving cottage cheese.
  16. Right. I'm not even weighing till my two week follow up.
  17. Ha. That's what happened to me. I was on fentanyl and felt GREAT. Yeah let's go jogging. Woohoo. That wore off and I was oh so sore. Day 5 and much better. Each day truly got a bit better I haven't had pain meds for a few days and it's ok.
  18. It's really hard not to compare yourself to others. I get it. Work on it though because I'd guess the folks who lost 30 lbs by now were much heavier than you to begin with. Are you taking your measurements? Losing inches?
  19. Are you sure you're only 22? You're extremely mature. I think your outlook and fears are all normal. I'm 30 years older than you and share almost all the same fears. Even being judged by those who love me. You look great and hulk strong sounds amazing to me. Just keep doing what you're doing.
  20. Are you the same weight as you were surgery day? I'm following this thread. This is my fear. I am sure this is so frustrating and disappointing. (5 days post op here)

    Boobs !

Breast lifts are usually self pay right? Anyone mind sharing what it cost them to have done?
  22. Me too and I have decided that the reason I know more bypass regains is because it was the more common surgery for weight loss compared to the sleeve. I'm pretty sure that long term results are similar for these surgeries. Both are good but I chose the sleeve.
  23. I was going to go with your doctor and facility. I've yet to read something negative anywhere about them. So at least you know you'll be treated wonderfully. Right up until surgery I had already decided that if they canceled me this is where I was going. Good luck!
  24. Congratulations! I was so relieved when I woke up that that part of the journey was behind me. I'm day 5 post op and did have the sore throat. They told me I don't intubate easily. I forget why. It wasn't too bad. Already gone. Keep us posted!
  25. I had to blow in a bag after drinking liquid for my hpylori test. I didn't have an endoscopy. Is that typical or did you all have some other issue that caused the Dr to order the endoscopy?
