Setting myself up for failure?
Joann454 replied to PAstudent's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been very fortunate. I am easily getting in all my protein and liquids and vitamins. I will just stick to sf popsicles over the halo top. Goodbye sea salt caramel, it was fun while it lasted. -
Setting myself up for failure?

My gut said it was too good to be true. I'm just so incredibly over this full liquid deal (two more weeks) I was looking for something to break up the monotony. -
Thanks for all these tips. I'm definitely getting those containers. Perfect size.

Since I'm not dumb (although that could be up for debate) I'm going to try it today.

Good luck! Thinking of you today!

I have one and it helps some. I can still smell it though. 🤢

Setting myself up for failure?
Joann454 replied to PAstudent's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can relate. I am working on accepting that I need new things to do when I'm bored and to always be prepared (healthy snacks available, good choices when they're not so handy). I used to think that you could eat anything but in small amounts but have quickly learned that's not the truth and sliders go down easy. I love m&m's so they won't go in my mouth. I did this to change but I also know some things never will. I have to make choices each day and it does worry me. I'm using my honeymoon period to learn as much as I can. -
My condolences. This broke me heart to read. I hope you're doing well since surgery.

Denied or Cancelled after arrival in Mexico?
Joann454 replied to Angieh1969's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
If there's a way for you to get the usual tests here in the states I'd do that. Even then there's no guarantee but you'd help your chances. My tests were Upper GI Hpylori test EKG which showed an abnormality so I had to do a stress test with an IV and X-rays. (Was fine) General blood work If you have insurance you could ask for these tests. I think getting down there to be sent home would be devastating as well. -
Yay you are learning how to navigate the site. Let us know what the Dr says

You guys stick around and help us out so much. I value all the input you have given me. Even if it wasn't a specific question I asked, I learned through others questions. Just thought I'd give a thanks to the many of you who helped. Priceless!

Ditto. I have little control with chocolate. I don't do the sf puddings because they offer nothing and make me crave real chocolate. I have been doing the halo top ice cream but I have to measure it out. It goes down so easy. At least it has protein. I'm on full liquids for three weeks and there is just so little to choose from. Do I need to worry about slider foods at only a week out ? Idk. I'm only getting around 500 calories a day. -
Oh and congrats on tossing out those clothes! Bet that felt great.

I have friends who will not comment on weight fluctuations either way because they believe it's rude and invasive. They're sociologists. I found that interesting.

Diana is new to the site and isn't sure how to respond to us. She emailed me and she ended up crushing her Tylenol and got some relief. I advised her to get some liquid Tylenol but I'm unsure if she'll know how to respond to my email.

I'm having protein shakes, yogurt, tomato soup, frozen sf popsicles, halo top (sf 12g protein) ice cream Besides weakness when I exert myself more than usual I feel fantastic.
-
Ok this is a relief. I can drink water easily. No tiny sips. I don't chug but it was concerning me. I won't expect restriction until then. Relieved.

Im always tired and weak. (12 days since surgery)

Karcares doing the math in my head your calories sound about like mine. This is the start of my second week and I've bumped my calories up to around 550 with the addition on tomato soup and halo top ice cream. I'd definitely be calling and letting them know how you feel. I hope you feel better! -
VENTING - can vs should

What's funniest to me about all of this is I have no idea where it stemmed from. I guess I missed the ice cream post. It's definitely devolved into something else. I still think it's a great thread and conversation. Most of the folks on this thread have responded and have been helpful to me. Even the posters some seem to dislike. I'm grateful. We all have different styles. Can't you just block/ignore the folks that annoy you? Unfollow on Facebook is my favorite feature! -

How many calories do you get daily? I'm getting around 500. I'm retired so I just stick my hair in a ponytail and haven't used any makeup. Showering has been ok. I don't get too tired. Are you back to work? -
I was too. For some of us a few months is far enough out to make it not feel real. I felt like I'd read all I could and had the worst time staying on any diet (as I always did). I was almost burnt out on all the preop stuff. Once my two week diet started and I had my date I kicked it into gear. Organized my vitamins, stuck to the diet etc For me, making all the dietary changes before surgery was so difficult. Chewing my food 20 times seemed dumb since for 3 weeks after surgery I was on liquids. I'm a week out and am doing well. I'm curious as to what you think he should be doing that he isn't.

Good luck to the last of the May sleevers! Thinking of you guys.

I'm a week out and could never sustain 15 mins on the elliptical. Hell, I just took a walk and am sitting here stunned at how weak I still feel. A tiny walk! Im happy to read this thread. I'm going back to being grateful to be able to get in all my protein and water and minimal pain. I felt kinda badass back then (this morning).
