No Negative Comments! Did anyone cheat during Pre op
Joann454 replied to Misha42000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're not the only one who has cheated. I've read stories. You have to keep in mind that your liver might be enlarged and that would make surgery harder. You have to try to do all you can to prevent complications. I know it's hard. I suffered through it too. It felt good to step on the scale pre surgery 15lbs lighter though. Eye on the prize. -
You'll feel better each day. I can get all my shakes and water in. I can go from sitting to standing without using my arms to lift me. Impossible the first few days. I'm only 11 days out and besides fatigue I'm amazed at how fast I felt better. You're on your way and should be through the worst.

Yeah, my wife is a professor and lives and dies by data. I know this logically but pre surgery I think I was looking for an out (wrapped up in the reason of being fully informed) and I sought out complications. I started to convince myself that I'd be the anomaly, I mean, someone has to be, right? She talked me off the edge and I'm so glad. Data and logic goes out the window if you're petrified.

If anything please WALK

Yes. That's a great idea. I feel so silly for not thinking of walking them a few times a day -

Wow! I live in the mountains and the hills in my street are killer. I can't wait to have the energy to tackle them. -
Scallops?
-
Incredibly sorry.

Excellent!!

Ok good. I won't give up trying. Even if I can only do ten minutes. -
How many calories per day is your pre-op diet?
Joann454 replied to greensleeves's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah they didn't give me calories either but I logged it. Two shakes, one meal, three snacks but very specific foods and amounts. -

How'd you both feel ten days out? I feel like this isn't normal but idk -
When I first started being active on here there was a poster that put a story about a woman who had to have her entire stomach removed. I was so scared. I almost bailed. Luckily a kind man who is pre op reached out (thank you Walter!) and talked me down. What's done is done, you have it now. Read success stories, think of how much better life is going to get. We're in the sucky phase right now. It won't last. If you didn't have GERD before and you're on Prilosec or similar your chances are low. Start thinking about what can go right!

Are you post op? I'm a weak wobbly mess when I walk. I'm ten days out. Moving around the house is fine but when I actually put my sneakers on and go for a real walk I am spent. Idk if I'm just not getting enough calories or what. -
How many calories per day is your pre-op diet?
Joann454 replied to greensleeves's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My preop diet was 800-900 calories. With my old stomach it was hard. Now I'm lucky to hit 600 calories. -
I went to a Center of Excellence. Researched my Dr. He's had no leaks. He's been doing it for many years. I felt very comfortable with his skill.

Can't wait to hear how it all turns out. Good luck!

Two more weeks and anxiety has shown up
Joann454 replied to kinipela24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're so right and that was exactly my fear too. People's responses are all over the map. From how they feel to how much they lose. It's a leap of faith! -
Also, wouldn't you want to wait to see what your body does after surgery. Skin shrinking could change the look
-
Depends where it is. I couldn't be on my stomach at all right now (exactly ten days out) and I'm tired. Like TIRED. I'm also 53 and ya know. You may be younger and bounce back just fine.

Joann454 replied to kinipela24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before surgery all you will think about is surgery. After surgery all you'll think about is water and protein. I spent a lot of time freaking out before surgery and it truly was just wasted energy. Learn all you can about life post op. It's really what's most important. -
Not sure if I have blown my chance....
Joann454 replied to Sweetazhoney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends a lot on your biology. I was clear of it from my blood stream. Cotinine and nicotine in four days. Pretty amazing. -
Thanks. I think I will bring my powder and a shaker. I can foresee eating lots of fish. I use the app called "lose it" and it's been a great help. I'll look at that app though.

How to decide on best surgery
Joann454 replied to fastfoodaddictnomore's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
When watching 600lb life I watched the patient eat tons of pizza and a batch of brownies. When asked by the Dr she said she ate hard boiled eggs for lunch. Hello? She did seek therapy and seemed better but it was shocking to see her lie. Idk if she was lying to herself or just the doc. -
I'm going to talk about my poop now.

Are you eating sugar free pudding? I could literally use that as a laxative. Check the ingredients list. Any sweetener that ends in"ol" kills me. I loved the title of this thread. [emoji23]
