Pretty important due to the malabsorption. You need to go to a reputable site and do some research so you can know if you are up for the commitment this surgery or any WLS will require.

Vitamins forever is true. Diarrhea, doubtful. My sister has no issue with this. She had RNY years ago and is fine.

Please support her beyond healing. It's clear you love her and are worried about her. Please attend support meetings with her, meet her doctors, become involved. She has a lot of changes she will be dealing with after this surgery and will need her parents. I'm only 19 days out from surgery and only wish I had done this at a younger age.

No. The reason they're split up is because we can only absorb so much at a time. I have alarms set on my phone because I'd forget. Try the alarms.

Sleeved today, staff driving me nuts
Joann454 replied to Brick Daddy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right! Seemed like I just be dozing off and KNOCK KNOCK. I know it's their job but it's why I couldn't wait to go home. Plus it's a teaching hospital and I had the weirdest student who just sort of hung around and talked about inappropriate things. Awkward! Hope you get to go home soon so you can get some rest. -
Idk how much protein each of your shakes contain. If I use mine that would only be a little over 40 grams. Definitely up your protein and see if that helps. Remember the shakes count toward your daily fluid intake.
-
Focus on your water and protein and remember this is only temporary.

It was normal for me! I was a hot mess up until surgery. I read success stories, it helped to keep me excited and less afraid. Congrats on quitting! That alone is enough to bring on the boohoos!

I totally get it. I was hungry too and I was so over the liquid diet. We are all learning. I asked to move to purée because it was to the point I couldn't stomach another shake. How did the egg sit with you? I don't think it's the end of the world because many move to purée as soon as a week. It's best if you stick to your plan though. Forgive yourself and do better. My hunger has actually decreased since I moved to purée. You can do five more days or call your NUT Monday and ask to at least be able to have an egg a day.

Did anyone else not need a endoscopy??
Joann454 replied to rachel_babe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have one. 53, sleeved 18 days ago and all is well. I too did the h. Pylori and blood work an upper GI (checking for hiatal hernia) and an ekg followed by a stress test. -

I'm so sorry you're struggling. Maybe seek out someone to talk to that can help you embrace your new way of living? Are you eating/drinking enough protein and water. It doesn't have to be and shouldn't be unhealthy. It should be the opposite. I became lactose intolerant before surgery. It might have happened at some point for you. I hope you can find peace with your decision. -

Unjury protein is very low carb. I think 5 grams? It's what I use. -
Does it hurt to vomit after surgery?
Joann454 replied to TooneyNinosMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you ever had anesthesia before? If so and you were nauseous be sure to let them know when they come in to talk to you. They can take some additional steps. I had 52 stitches down my stomach when I had surgery as a kid and was so nauseous. I never forgot that experience. It was the worst! -
Gastric bypass or sleeve? How did you choose? Anyone 5 years out of surgery?

SW is surgery weight I believe. -
Yup, same for me. I stay off the scale. I'm doing what I'm supposed to so it'll happen.

Does it hurt to vomit after surgery?
Joann454 replied to TooneyNinosMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I vomited once and it really didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. I also had no gas pains and was off narcotics in a couple of days. Let them know if you feel nauseous and they'll medicate you for it. -
Approved in less than 1 hour

Ouch! Take it easy then. That sounds painful. -
You have to drink or you'll dehydrate and end up in the ER. How long ago was surgery?

How long did it take to shower after surgery?
Joann454 replied to Iwanttofitinmyweddingdress's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wasn't even in the hospital 24 hrs. I'd read they have people shower but they just let me wash my face and brush my teeth. -

Two days for me as well. It wasn't easy but it felt great. I couldn't bend down to shave my legs for about five days. -
