Vitamin and Calcium Research for VSG

I bought these and my NUT said no but when my chewable vitamins run out I'll be on regular food. I'm going to try them then.
  2. "The difference is there is no quitting your diet post-op" Right! We ended up in the ER (nothing surgery related) last night and McDonald's is right there. Normally I would've just blown my diet but this sleeve made me think about better and safer options. This is exactly the type of tool I needed. In those moments of weakness it helps.
  3. I was very nervous about complications. I loved my life before surgery and was nervous that surgery might somehow alter my happiness. I think nervousness and some worry are perfectly normal. If you aren't sure you can handle the changes that are required then it might be time to rethink surgery. I didn't have any complications so I am very pleased I went ahead with surgery.
  4. I stand on a scale and hold these bars and supposedly it gives me my BMR but I'm skeptical it's accurate.

    June 14th!

I would like to see it when you get a chance
  6. My insurance required a year of telephone appointments with a coach. It actually took me two years because of some medical issues and my dad passing away. It felt like forever.
  7. I guess I shouldn't have complained, I was fortunate to have a private room and they kept the door shut.

    Just over a month away...

I wish you well. I was sleeved 5/22. This forum has been a great source of information and support for me. Welcome!

That looks amazing! "Stares down at fat free refried beans"

    Time to do this

Definitely depends. My insurance company is COVA (it's the insurance for state employees in VA) and it took one day. My friend has the same insurance and it took one HOUR. But yeah, it depends.

    Holy Dumping Syndrome, Batman!

I remember when my sister ate a Hershey's kiss after her RNY and dumped. She was petrified after that. Feel better!

    Holy Dumping Syndrome, Batman!

    Well that sounds just horrific!

    Losing breath

Please please call your Dr. That's not normal.

    Hospital stays

I was supposed to stay two but I was doing so well they let me go the next day. As long as you're drinking and pain is managed you should be released. I was so glad!
  16. Same boat. My NUT is ok with carbs (food pyramid) and the surgeon is all about very low carb.
  17. Talk to your Dr about it, not Diana in philly.
  18. I'm not positive but doesn't the surgery improve sleep apnea?

    Post op assistance

Oh yeah! A ride is mandatory!

    Post op assistance

I had help but I really think I could've managed on my own. As long as you don't have to lift anything. Make sure all your laundry is done, house clean, shakes and water purchased, vitamins purchased etc and you will be ok. Maybe just a drop in after work to help with dishes for a couple of days. Assuming there are no complications you might be just fine.

Did I screw up my surgery?

No. You didn't ruin your surgery. Just stay on track from here on out.

    Bypass Vs. Sleeve?

Dumping doesn't always happen and certainly doesn't always last forever. My sister had RNY and can eat sugar easily (which has resulted in her never hitting goal and gaining 50 lbs but she's still lower and maintaining that). There is no guarantee. I chose the sleeve because I had no GERD and wasn't on medication for diabetes and wanted to have absorption of nutrients. Both are good surgeries imo.

    Concerned Mom

It doesn't have to all be done before surgery. She can still do lots of mental work after surgery (it's when the bulk of mine has been done and is still going on albeit on my own). It's a journey and surgery is an event.
  24. I'm just 3 weeks out and not allowed to lift anything over 10 lbs. better to ask your surgeon.
